Falling leaves

Our leaves are really falling now.  There's not much color left.

This maple in our yard still has several leaves.  But
the ground below looks to be covered in gold.

These are our neighbor's trees north of our house.  They
are the hard maples that have beautiful reddish leaves
that fall quickly.  At the very top, I see what looks
like squirrel's nests.  They are rather large for birds.
I'll be keeping a closer eye on the nests to see if I
can spot a squirrel coming or going.

Here's one of the little scamps now.  I see them in
our yard nearly every day.  It's hard to get a
clear shot because they are never still!

They've been doing a lot of this.  Burying their food
for the winter, I presume.  I've seen one carrying
what looks like a walnut although the walnut trees
aren't very close to the house.

October is nearly over.  Halloween will be a fun night
for many tonight.   May each of you have a fun
night if you have plans and a great week ahead!

Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals!!!!

Until next time...

  6. My dear husband will testify to the fact that the leaves have been falling, since he is the one dealing with them.

Our squirrels are EVERYWHERE! They are fat and sassy, having fed on acorns the past few months.

    Pretty pictures. Happy Halloween!

  7. Oh I wanted to wish you congratulations on having your team come through so valiantly!

Still some color to enjoy for a week or more. I love it when the vivid hues mellow out to the bronzes, coppers, and golds.

  9. Your trees are so pretty! That squirrel is a cutie. And I'm pretty sure those are squirrel's nest. Sometimes I call them their condos because they're so large. :)
    Happy Halloween!

  11. You captured some beautiful pictures of the leaves before they all fall down. Hate to see that happen, but I am always amazed to find those huge squirrel nests that have been hidden so well all summer.
The squirrels are busy little guys and it's cute to watch them.
Congratulations to your Cardinals. So exciting!
Hope you are feeling better now, Cheryl. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on my last post.
