On one of my day jaunts a week or so ago, I came upon this charmer. Of course, I just happened to have my camera with me and took it's picture. The old barns with a quilt pattern haven't been around all that long in our area. I took a few photos of other barn quilts last year and if you would like to see them, you can find them here.
This nice old barn is just a short distance down the highway from the red barn. I wondered if perhaps they belonged to the same farmer. It looks deserving of a quilt, too. I took the liberty of straightening this one. The barn looked like it sits a bit crooked otherwise.
Thanks for all your well wishes this week, I'm feeling much better now! I hope to get out this weekend and enjoy this beautiful weather we've been having. We have tentative plans for a little jaunt. I'll tell you about it later! Have a wonderful weekend.
Until next time...
two beautiful barns, i would prefer mine without the quilt though.
ReplyDeleteI love old barns too. I live on a farm but we don't have a "cool" barn in sight :)!
ReplyDeletei like the buzzard sitting on the first one too! :)
ReplyDeleteThe first picture is wonderful!!! We live surrounded by barns, but I have never seen one with a quilt square on it. And you even got the hay bales and a bird on the roof, picture perfect!!! The next barn is quite a contrast, making the first one look even better. Yes, it does need something to dress it up a bit, although it looks in better shape than the first one.
ReplyDeleteSomething about old barns that I've always loved also! We're planning on going out a bit this weekend also as long as the furnace man cooperates and gets our furnace fixed by morning! I'll take my camera also but can guarantee you nothing I take will look as good as your photos!!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt is very possible the red/quilt barn was the same one we saw on our way to Arrow Rock last weekend? It sure looks like it!
ReplyDeleteI love old barns.
Am very glad to hear you are feeling better. We are heading to wineries towards St. Louis this weekend with son and DIL and their two little ones. Am really looking forward to it!
The trees are changing oh so pretty!
I think those barns are becoming a thing of the past too. I like the red one with the big bird. Is it a buzzard? It's huge whatever it is. I like the quilt square.
ReplyDeleteHope you're up and around soon. It's no fun being down.
Hi Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that you are feeling better!
I love old barns! We have a few in our area, but really, the weather used to be worse than it is now, and some of those beautiful old barns just could not take it; they either caved in or had to be torn down!! I really think that the quilt pattern painted on the barn is beautiful - what a fun and unique idea! So glad you had your camera at the ready!
Hugs,
Barb
Both are lovely to look at and appear to have eyes peering back at me.
ReplyDeleteNice shots, Cheryl.
Hugs,
Pam
Interesting how the barn needs repairs but the quilt pattern looks new. I do have a fondness for old barns.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better. I've never seen a quilt on a barn before. Both are nice photos.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI love the barn quilts too. I passed many as I was traveling through Wisconsin, but was in too big of a hurry to take a shot of them. Thanks for sharing your pics!
I didn't know about this project. What a good idea. My first thought was maybe you lived in Amish country.
ReplyDeleteThe barns appeal to me even without the quilt patterns. I love old barn. I have one!
Love those old barns! We live in a mountain valley that is all farmland, and we are lucky enough to have quite a few old barns. I never get tired of seeing old barns :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and became a follower. I am so looking forward to reading your posts. You have some gorgeous pictures and I love to read your thoughts.
Hope that this weekend is a great one for you!
Love your barns today! I'm having quite a time with Blogger...I can't hit any other sites on the web instantly, but Blogspot blogs just don't want to load, then will suddenly "energize" and pop up...so I haven't been on very much, but glad I was able to see this today. Now, if this dang comment will post, I'll be in business!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful barns! I love barns of all types and styles. The quilt barns are something I've not seen in my corner at all, but I wouldn't mind seeing them here.
ReplyDeleteI love old barns, and when I see them I wonder about the stories they could tell. The two barns on our farm were here even when my dh and I were dating, little did I know that we would one day own them. God is so good.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, enjoy your weekend.
Sue
these are two great old barns!!
ReplyDeletei think barns are naturally crooked!! i often tilt my camera to get them straight as i don't know how to straighten the pictures after i have taken them. i think perhaps i should learn!!
have a wonderful sunday!!
Such pretty barns - beautiful photos. We are getting rain as I type this. Yay! Have enjoyed the beautiful weather too.. but wow, are we parched! -Tammy
ReplyDeleteBoth of the barns are wonderful, but I especially love the barn with the quilt pattern. Have you seen the blog called "Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail"?

Beautiful! We have a great old red barn of our own, but it's in pretty desperate need of repair.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining, I'm so glad you did!
ReplyDeleteI really like the first barn. It has everything...nice sky, quilt square, that wonderful roof, and the rolled hay!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. I love the curviture of the roof on the first barn. :-)
