Time for Barn Charm

This barn in mid-Missouri was shot in late April.
Wonder why they put some silos so close to
the barns?
The building you see just over
the left side is the farmer's house.

I'm linking to Tricia's Barn Charm

Until next time...

  5. LOVE your picture. The barn is none the worse for wear. But that silo is HUGE and you're right, very close??? I take pictures of old barns too, though I've never posted any. So much history. They have all that character. take care.

  6. Pretty barn! Guess they don't want to have to walk so far to the silo.
The silo across the highway from us caught fire the night before I was born (I've been told). So that's a good reason to not have them TOO close!

  8. It does seem that the silos are always pretty close to the barn, if not right up against them. Maybe a farm wife out there can tell us why! Nice shot - interesting roof!

  13. Is the silo so close for convenience? I wouldn't think it would be so close for safety purposes. Another great barn!

  15. the farm i grew up on had them close - they had a chute that opened into a part of the barn so silage could be shoved directly into wheelbarrows to feed the cows while they were in their stanchions.

  16. The different designs of barns is fascinating. I'm sure, each has its own story.
    Beautiful capture, Cheryl.

  17. I like that silo!! They probably put it so close so they didn't have to walk as far to have access to it.

  18. The silo is awful close, isn't it... love the shape of the barn & that roof!

Did your area get much rain Sunday? It poured for just a little bit at my parent's farm just west of town, but not near enough... we need rain bad!

Thanks a million for joining =)

  19. You certainly live in a part of the state that has lots of wonderful old barns! Thanks for sharing these pictures.
In your comments on my post you mentioned your dislike of Prince Charles. A lot of people probably agree with you, but I like him a lot. I think he will be a fine King, when his turn comes. I admire him for the work he does to advance organic farming methods for food. I admire the work he does to help communities re-learn how to sustain themselves, and to educate and train young people in England that otherwise would not have opportunities. I admire his talent as a musician, artist and scholar. I admire him for his sense of duty to his country. It is very sad that his marriage to Princess Dianna did not work. They were not particularly well suited to one another, and he was not really free to choose the person he wanted to marry. The best thing to come from that marriage were their two boys.

  27. That silo is right up close and personal, but I see many that way in these parts. Not usually next to that shape of barn though. That style is usually nestled into the middle of a hay field some place. Nice shot. :-)
