Once again it's time for Barn Charm! My offering this
week is a barn that I've driven by many times in the past.
It is on a county blacktop road that takes me to the
farm where I grew up and once a year or so
I like to drive through the area.
It looks like they started painting this old barn and then
abandoned the project, doesn't it?
The house on this large farm is still well cared for, I
hope they take will care of the barn, too.

Until next time...
I guess painting a barn can be a pretty daunting project - especially if it starts soaking up the paint! Nice photo - looks like the field in front is pretty tall!
ReplyDeleteThey should have left it alone- the old wood is prettier without the paint!
ReplyDeleteIt's got a great, unique shape! Nice find!
ReplyDeleteIt's got a great, unique shape! Nice find!
ReplyDeleteAnother great barn!
ReplyDeleteI too hope that they are going to take care of and appreciate that old barn.
You'll have to let us know.
Warm wishes..
Kerin
This IS a great barn.

ReplyDeleteevery time i see "drive by" ... i giggle because i think that will be the only drive-by i will ever see ... or i at least hope so. (:
ReplyDeleteCool barn Cheryl! B.I.G. Hope you had some rain fall on you yesterday!
ReplyDeleteIt must be so difficult for many to make the decision to do upkeep in this rotten economy. We must all be more careful about where to spend our monies. Hopefully, you're right, and they will decide that the barn is worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteseems like a lot of roof for the amount of barn beneath it, or maybe the grass is really high. it is charming for sure.
ReplyDeleteGreat barn Cheryl. With that big roof and hay mow door it must have been used to store a lot of hay.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering about the shape of it also. Sure a lot of roof.
ReplyDeletePerhaps they just ran out of money. Half done is worse than not done.
looks like a great old barn. yes, i hope they continue to fix it up!
ReplyDeleteI have ten grandkids who could help finish that paint job ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat barn. I sure hope they continue fixing it up.
What a unique barn there - hope they keep it up. sandie
ReplyDeleteI like it just fine without the white paint. Maybe they decided it was going to be more work than they bargained for and they simply didn't have the time right then.
ReplyDeleteI teach in the midst of a big farming community and those kids are always busy juggling school, extra curriculars, and farm work.
I love the big opening for the hay and the way you've captured the surrounding field so it seems to be protecting it from outsiders.
I also enjoyed the background you gave about where it is located and when you pass by it. That makes the barns even more interesting.:>)
Very nice barn, Cheryl... This one seems to have character!!!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Maybe they simply ran out of paint and figured it added to its charm.
ReplyDeleteNicely done, Cheryl.
that is one huge roof! wow! really cool, Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteIt's a massive barn. Sometimes barns quit being used because the property changes hands and it has no needs anymore. This one looks like some of the roof sections are beginning to curl up. I would imagine it would be expensive to refurbish a barn this size so if the owners are not farmers they probably won't go to the expense.
ReplyDeleteI would not like to be the one that has to roof that barn. Looks like a huge roof.
ReplyDeleteThat is a TALL barn - unless it's just the angle...?
ReplyDeleteI love this barn too. I will be looking for another one soon. We drove up to Heber, Utah and on the way home we saw a really great barn. Next trip up I will be taking my camera.
ReplyDeleteoh cheryl, it's massive and massively beautiful.
ReplyDeletesomeone please continue to love it, pretty please!!
This barn certainly has charm, Cheryl!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sue
It is a charming barn.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have access to a whole lot of barns in your area!
Wow, great barn. Big!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful barn!! Painting a barn is a big job... hubby painted a barn one year...and it was a huge undertaking!!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, it looks humongous...looks like if they did a little TLC it would last many years.
ReplyDeleteYes, ma'am, I hope they take care of the barn, too... love these old barns & wouldn't you love to get inside! heheheee
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining, Cheryl! =)
It does look huge! Hopefully, someone will care for it.
ReplyDeleteOne day I'll have to post all my barn pictures. I just adore yours. So many different barns, so many stories we wish we knew???
ReplyDeleteI love that barn! Very weathered...
ReplyDeleteCute blog name too! I'm from MO, just outside of St. Louis :)
