The redbud trees are rapidly fading now and the leafing out has begun.
So this is probably my last photos of the redbuds this year.
Here's a closer look at the same tree, zooming in.
I took these photos yesterday evening as the sun was going
down and the sun glow turned the tree into a
lovely bright pink.
lovely bright pink.
We had a nice weekend with beautiful weather. The lawn
was mowed and trimmed. Flower beds were inspected
and a few stray weeds pulled. Mulch was bought for needed
areas. And I remembered the seed block for the birds.
The roses are looking great. Of course, I mostly have the
very easy to grow Knockout roses. They already have several
buds. If you look closely, you'll see them in the photo below.
Our son came by Friday evening and stayed until Saturday
afternoon. We always enjoy his visits. Saturday mornng, he went
walking around the Back 6 with his dad, looking for morel mushrooms.
Many in our area have found them by the bucketfuls, but they didn't
have any luck. We grilled some steaks Friday evening and
Saturday at lunch time, I fixed a very good salad that I'd seen
on the Pioneer Woman's website.
I'm sure everyone has heard of PW by now and if you'd like
this yummy recipe, you can find it here. The only thing I
did differently was that I bought the croutons instead of making
them as she does and I didn't have a red onion so used a white one.
It still turned out very tasty. I'd made this recipe one other time before
and it was declared a keeper. Many of her recipes are keepers!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Until next time...
The redbuds are pretty. Glad you had a nice visit with your son. Dinner looks tasty. I just got The Pioneer Woman's new cookbook. Great recipes, indeed. Do you watch her show on the Food Network?
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of seeing redbuds. I have Ree's first cookbook, her romance book about Marlboro Man, and her children's book about Charlie...I would have to say I'm a "fan" of Pioneer Woman.
ReplyDeleteI know I am in the minority, but I am not a PW fan! I do admire how she has marketed herself.....
ReplyDeleteI do like some of her recipes. I do her lasagna and now I will try the salad. It does sound delicious.
Love the redbud tree. Very pretty!! I bet you are going to miss the flowers when they go away.
ReplyDeletered buds are so beautiful and so are the leaves to the roses. the plate of salad looks so good i popped over and read the recipe. the burger is how I make mine to put on buns. my hubby calls it bbq burgers. i have never tried it on salad or thought about the pickles. yummmy
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, I never tire of seeing Redbud trees in bloom and Knock-out roses are my favorite rose, I love their simplicity.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day,
cheers :)
And I miss my forythias blooms. They were so pretty this year.
ReplyDeleteYou better set another plate next time, Lady!!
T
Sounds like a great weekend! And the redbuds are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWe have the beautiful red bud trees here and I love them. Our snow ball bush is blooming and so pretty and we have violet & white small delicate irises blooming in the front. I love springtime in Tulsa/Coweta. Don't care so much for our HOT summers :o(
ReplyDeletei did some mowing and weeding here, too. :) glad you remembered the seed block!
ReplyDeleteCheryl the Red Bud is beaautiful. Even before I read when you snapped it I was thinking it had to be at the golden hour either at sunrise or sunset. The light is beautiful and you can just tell that light in a picture. A cheeseburger salad! Oh MY! you know that would make me happy! Nice you had some time with your son. It was gorgeous yesterday, a little to warm for April first. Maybe that was Mom Nature's April Fool's joke! It better cool down and rain soon or the plants will be suffering before we even get to Summer.
ReplyDeleteThe rosebud trees are still lovely. And the evening sun is a magnificent part of a Photo Op, I think. :-)
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about the light, at that time of evening...
"A gush of bird-song, a patter of dew,
A cloud, and a rainbow's warning,
Suddenly sunshine and perfect blue--
An April day in the morning.”
~~Harriet Prescott Spofford
Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love those redbuds!
So glad that you are getting a little Spring there.
Hope that this is a great week for you!
Happy Monday :)
The tree is so beautiful with the sun hitting it just that way. You're so far ahead of us. I can't imagine when we'll have to mow the lawn. I love PW's recipes so I will follow your link. I don't recall a salad.
ReplyDeletePretty photos! The redbuds and dogwoods have been glorious this spring (summer?)
ReplyDeleteOff to check out the salad recipe-I love a good salad.
Spring seems to have gone by so quickly this year... hate to get to the end of it. PW has LOTS of keepers! And, your salad is making me hungry, Cheryl! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteThe salad looks like a whole wonderful meal!!!! Sorry to see the red buds go, but more cool things are coming!! For instance, the crepe myrtle, and the peonies and poppies! And the crab apple trees!
ReplyDeleteI think the red bud in spring is my favorite tree- next to the pear/plums (white) That salad looks delish!
ReplyDeleteThe redbuds are very beautiful. I wish I could grow them in my gardens but I am one growing zone too cold.
ReplyDeletethe roses are looking awesome!! we have been triming, pruning, hacking and pulling weeds....my, oh my, those gardens are a lot of work!!
ReplyDeletenow how about a nice salad!!
The salad looks really good! I've never made croutons myself either! The tree is so pretty! Love the red color! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOur RedBuds are almost gone too... Even the Dogwoods are going FAST. It's been almost too warm for some of our Spring flowers...
ReplyDeleteYour salad looks great. Gonna be out-of-pocket for a few days...
Hugs,
Betsy
One of my friends went morel hunting this past weekend and ended up with tons!! I love mushrooms, but don't know if I've ever had that kind before.
ReplyDeleteThe redbuds are so beautiful. Mine is fading fast too. It's right outside my office window, so I can see it when I'm on the computer. (Well, not now, because it's dark.)
The redbuds are sooo pretty! Flowers just make you smile don't they?? :) I don't care for mushrooms, but I love steak! Your salad looks yummy! I need to eat more salads. Have a great day Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteNo, I had never heard of this...but sure want to remember it now. Sounds delicious.
