A Barn With A Quilt Block

My barn this week features a quilt pattern.  It's a very nice barn but I wanted to ask if they would move their equipment from the front.  I bet that would have gone over big.  This barn is not on a working farm and probably just used for storage.  And this was a drive-by snap, so the focus and lighting wasn't the best.

I did a post in 2010 about quilt barns in this area and told what criteria barns have to meet to be selected to have a quilt block placed on them.  If interested, see that post here.

Linking to Tricia's Barn Charm.

Until next time...

  1. Oooo excellent Cheryl. My barn this week has a quilt too! Rock foundation and all those tiny windows~charming! Yeah, snapping charming barns would be so much easier if people would tidy up a bit! Looks like it is in the rich bottom land somewhere.....

Good Morning! I can't believe I am up at 1:30.

  2. Very nice barn! I love the quilt blocks - apparently there is some sort of "quilt block barn trail", but I haven't done much research on it. They are so interesting - I am going to go read your post about the criteria.

  5. LOL! Maybe they would have been flattered that you wanted to photograph their barn, but I'm guessin' you were right about it going over big. LOL! I think the equipment adds a sense of continued function along with the beauty. ;) It truly IS a beautiful barn! blessings ~ Tanna

  7. Beautiful!
I really love the barn quilts.

I've been collecting pictures of barn quilts in the hopes of making one for our hay barn one day.
Either a barn quilt or a barn star...or perhaps a flag.

Thanks for sharing, and posting the info too :)

  8. How fun to find another barn with a quilt block. You need a bumper sticker that says " I Brake For Barns"

  9. I really like barns with quilts painted on them. When I drove thru Iowa last summer, there were all kinds of quilts on barns.

  14. I have to agree w/ you, they should move the equipment around back... lots of people love old barns & the way it's parked there is kind of a distraction... it's a beauty!

I'm going to link your other post on quilt barns, too, very interesting!

    Thanks so much =)

  21. Wow, that is so interesting that you have to meet a criteria for a quilt block. I loved this pictures. We were in South Dakota and I saw a barn I wanted to take a picture of and then we didn't get back to taking the picture. Oh well, I think I will look around here for a good barn to take a picture of. You are inspiring me.

  25. The is one of the best quilt patterns I've seen on a barn yet! Great barn - even if they so rudely left their equipment outside. I've run into the same thing... the barn is great but the modern stuff around it, not so much.

  30. I love seeing the barns with quilt blocks! We don't get those here in Arizona. It would have been nice of them to move the backhoe! LOL!!

  31. That was just as interesting the second time around as the first. Maybe I'll remember the next time you feature a Quilt Barn. This barn is nice and has lovely acreage presuming it goes along with it. Too bad they don't keep the equipment in the barn.

  34. I love the barn with all the equipment around it. Is that a river bottom I see in the background?

Now I am off the read about the quilt block thing.

  35. I know what you mean about wanting farmers to move their equipment - or other stuff - in front of their barns.

I wish we had quilt barns up here but it appear to be a solely American idea.

  36. I love that quilting on the barn. Interesting!

  37. Nice. I was unfamiliar with type of barn decoration until I started looking at the wonderful pictures on this meme.
