Shania and I have something in common

 (Picture from Internet)

I read this morning that Shania Twain had a fall walking on stage at the CMT awards last night.  If you're familiar with country music you know that Shania is beautiful and very talented.  So you're probably wondering what on earth I might have in common with her?  Well, I had a fall yesterday too.  I was traipsing through one of the stores at the mall when my toe caught on something and I just started lurching forward and ended up flat on my tummy.  It wasn't a pretty sight.  The good news is that I'm okay, nothing broken and actually something good may have come out of the embarrassing moment.  I had been having severe back pain for the last few days to the point of waking through the night in discomfort.  Today, the left arm hurts from trying to soften the landing and my right knee hurts to touch it, but my back feels somewhat better!  As for Shania, I read that she wasn't hurt much either, but may end up auctioning off her stiletto shoes!

In other news today, I see that new research shows that sitting for long stretches at a time may be just as harmful to your health as smoking.  That made an impression on me as I've been sitting too much and used to sit at work for 8 hours at a time except for an occasional break.  Here's the article  here  if you'd like to read it.  I guess we can allow ourselves to get stressed out over these health reports that pop up all too frequently and we all know that stress is not good for us either.  I wonder about those who sit too much and smoke too?  Okay, getting off my chair now.  Time to trudge downstairs and do laundry.

Until next time...

  2. OUCH for you both. I saw her fall and it looked painful, even when we replayed it to make sure of what we saw.

Hope your bruises go away quickly and glad nothing was broke.

  3. On that note, I'm leaving...

No, no, I know that sitting too long is not good for anyone. So you sound just like John who always says of mishaps..."I must've needed that." Glad that your back feels better and I hope that your arm and knee catch up.

Sorry for your fall -- my goodness you lucky you did not break something.. about sitting - umm -there might be a lot toward poor health - because I know a few people who do a lot of sitting day after day -- I can see how that can be NOT SO GOOD! 5. I saw a video of her fall and I'm not sure why she fell. Sometimes, those things just happen. I find myself walking and all of a sudden I'm on the floor or ground. I'm so glad nothing was broke. I'm familiar with the back pain....I fell out of chair one time and the back pain subsided that I had been having. My chiropractor said he wouldn't recommend that. I hope you are up and about soon without too much pain. I don't wear stilettos! Have a better day

  7. Hi Cheryl!

So sorry about your fall!!! I'm so glad you are alright... :0) Poor Shania, how embarrassing!

I was a legal secretary for 16 years - sitting everyday at a computer for 8 hours a day - no wonder my back hurts!!! Really good, eye-opening article!

Yesterday we took my mother to the Dr. She has gained about 24 pounds in the last 6-8 months, all because she got one of those fun little Jazzy machines that you just turn on and ride! The Dr. told her to use her walker, ASAP! Soooooo important to stay active!

Again, so glad you were not hurt!

    Gentle hugs,
    Barb

  8. Ok...I'm really not laughing right now...
I am so glad that you are ok...Falls can sometimes be (BAD) as we get older...
Must be the month for falling...One of my very best friends took a fall last week. It was the last day of school for teachers and they were all meeting in an assembly... Some 200 teachers already seated when my friend walks in...She falls FLAT ON HER FACE..she was ok, but her pride was deeply bruised...
I do hope you are not sore.
    XO shug

  9. Julie: Walking IS good exercise, as long as you don't fall down while doing it. lol

OBQ: Thanks, I'm glad nothing was broken too. That was my first thought.

Vee: The aches and pains haven't been as bad as they could have been.

Kris: Yep, I need to get moving too. It's far more healthy to be active.

Joani: I read where her high heels and tight dress caused her to stumble. I always wondered how they managed to NOT fall wearing those stilettos.

Kimmie: I like Shani'a voice too. She has some good songs.

Barb: Thanks, I'm glad it turned out okay even tho I probably looked like a dork! LOL!

Shug: It's okay, go ahead and laugh. It's probably pay back time for me when I smirked when someone else fell. We DO look pretty silly falling on our faces! I'm a little sore but I'll be okay.
