Tomorrow is Valentine's Day

Do you set a special table for your Valentine?  I don't know where I'd put it or if I'd ever use it, but I've always admired silver coffee and tea sets like the one above.  It doesn't really fit into our casual lifestyle, but it is so pretty.  I also love pretty dishes and stemmed glassware and have several sets.  If I had the space, I would have dinnerware and glassware in every color.

Will you fix a special meal or go out for dinner?  I don't usually do anything special for Valentine's anymore.  If it were the weekend, we'd probably go out to eat.

This is the scene that I woke up to early this morning.  The snow is still falling and the weatherman says we will get between 2-4 inches.  I hope he's wrong!

It's time for me to go check on my feathered friends and see if the feeders need filling.  I'll say Happy Valentine's Day now.  Enjoy your day!

Until next time...

  1. I will try to make a healthy dinner for my husband and our daughter. My husband had an open heart surgery three years ago. Thank God he is doing good. My daughter is into healthy eating. So we make it a day for our physical heart as well as our emotional heart. Happy Valentine's day to you:)
Pretty dishes are always nice. When we sold our house, I sold a lot of things, but did not have the heart to sell our fine China. It is still sitting in boxes, but I may be able to use it some day, so it can stay.

  4. We don't do anything special for the holiday. It's just another day. I keep hoping one day hubby will surprise me, but I'm still waiting.

  5. We'll probably cook steaks on the grill at home. :)
The snow is so pretty! I'm so happy we're finally getting some cold weather, but not for long. Suppose to be in the 80's by the end of the week.

  6. Happy Valentines to you too. I know what you mean - some things would be so pretty to have - but where would I put them - I am really trying to downsize now instead of increasing the size of my home! sandie

  7. No plans for us this year as it's not the weekend and actually hubby was sick with a cold all weekend so we didn't go out then either! I am planning to make a beef stew and biscuits for supper and we'll have heart sugar cookies for dessert. That's it. Happy Valentine's Day! Pamela

  8. No, like you, I rarely set a beautiful table. If it looks neat and tidy, I call it good. Perhaps we should both work on an element of surprise. ;D

  9. I love beautiful dishes too but I am trying so hard to simplify and downsize that I am beginning to give stuff to my daughter.

It's gotten colder here but still no snow...looks like you are getting more than a dusting....

  12. Our tradition for years has been candy. He gets maple nut goodies and a package of burnt sugar peanuts.

I get a heart shaped box of chocolates. Dang I wish I had saved every box!

    Sweets for the sweets!

  13. We are in Las Vegas so I am not sure what we will be doing. I do know I don't want to fight the crowds so we will probably just grab something quick and celebrate the next day

  15. We are getting a skim of snow...won't be celebrating Valentine's here...normally we would probably go out to eat, or for a drive but Roger has a sore throat and just feels kind of run down...like he may be getting what I had.

  16. Happy Valentine's Day!!!! I am the same as you, I LOVE the stemmed glassware, and beautiful dishes. But we are very casual. So I have things that can be used either way. The cracker recipe looks yummy, and so easy!
