Dessert for breakfast

You know what they say...life is uncertain, eat dessert first.

This is all that's left of the dessert from the weekend so I thought I might as well have it for breakfast.  Hey, there's fruit in this dessert!

Cherry Delight is the name of this quick and easy recipe.  To make it, you will need a graham cracker crust, a can of cherry pie filling, an 8 ounce container of whipped topping, 8 ounces of cream cheese, and 2 cups of powdered sugar.  Mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar until well blended, then fold in the whipped topping.  Pour into the graham cracker crust and top with 1 can of cherry pie filling.  Refrigerate a few hours before serving so the filling will firm up.  That's it.  Easy, delicious!

I'm still puttering around the house, trying to decide what to toss and what to keep and do some spring cleaning.  It's been slow going as I had dizziness to contend with the last 2 weeks.  It's nothing serious as I've had this for several years now, it's just that it always strikes at the worst times.  Not that any time is a good time.

Our son was here for the weekend.  It's always fun when we are all together.  I can't wait until it's warmer weather and we can sit out on the patio.  I've been thinking of ways to spruce up our outdoor room.  I have a few ideas floating around.  Now, I just have to double down on the inside and get it done.  It won't be long now and I'll be able to work outside.  Can't. Wait.

Until next time...

  3. Cheryl,
Growing up Mom didn't care what we ate for breakfast as long as we ate something. Yes, Sister took that to heart with the occasional slice of ice cream cake to start her day. It was someone's birthday keep the celebration rolling!

I am not a fan of clutter, but still seem to collect more stuff than I can use.

Good luck with your cleaning and glad you got to spend the weekend with your son.

  8. Good Morning Cheryl, Your breakfast looks yummy. We all are probably guilty of eating dessert for breakfast. A belated Happy Birthday. I have been hit and miss lately with leaving comments. Keep hoping to have more time, but I don't think it is going to happen. It is so nice when family comes home. My oldest will be home this weekend. I can't wait to see him. We had snow Saturday night enough to make my car white. Have a great week. Hugs and Prayers from Your NW Missouri Friend.

  17. Love the clouds in the sky. Sounds like you had a nice weekend, too. I sure need to do more cleaning and sorting. I can't eat sugar...boohoo! Sometimes I miss it but most of the time, I don't give it a thought. I quit eating sugar years ago. But I'm still sending you SWEET hugs!

  20. Nothing wrong with dessert for breakfast one in awhile. I have had BPV (benign positional vertigo) for years. One attack, I literally had to crawl on the floor. It is not fun, and I am so sorry.

  23. This reminds me of what I always tell peeps, "can you imagine how many woman on the titanic skipped desert, because they were watching their figures. What a waste" I never skip desert, unless I'm too full and I also eat whatever I want for breakfast!!

  26. What, do you mean there are those out there that would NOT eat dessert first. My favorite choice would be cheesecake with cherries on top.

I do hope your dizziness goes a way quick.
I need to get into the spring cleaning but it hasn't happened yet I have an awful allergy cough this week; so I do need to dust good.

  29. Hi Cheryl!

Might as well enjoy life! When my dad was a little boy, his mother made apple pie for breakfast all the time, they ate it with milk or cream on it! I still, to this day, eat apple pie with milk on it - and I would definitely eat it for breakfast!

I hope you start feeling better, vertigo is no fun... :0(

We worked outside all day today - so much to do - problem is, we will pay for it tomorrow! Already have a sore back!

    Get well soon!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  34. This recipe sounds simple (which I always love) and delicious. Thanks for sharing it with us! I love this sort of thing for breakfast but for some reason PH thinks this sort of thing should only be for an evening desert. :) Silly man!

  35. I hope you are feeling better, Cheryl! My daughter suffers from vertigo sometimes, and when she does she knows she is dehydrated and drinks a few glasses of water.

Your cherry delight looks delicious--my kind of breakfast any time ;)
