Back Yard Birds

Today I'll be showing a few of the birds I've seen in my backyard at the feeders this winter.  So, if you aren't a bird lover like I am, then you might want to just skip on along!

White-breasted Nuthatch

Juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Downy Woodpecker

Blue Jay, who just turned his head as I snapped.

I spotted the first Robin this year about a week ago.

In front is a Chickadee, in back is a Goldfinch.

 Chickadee and Tufted Titmouse

Red-bellied Woodpecker

"Where's the corn?"  asked the Cardinal, Junco and Sparrows

Goldfinch and Junco

Red-headed Woodpecker that I snapped yesterday.

In front, a Song Sparrow.

A very cold, icy tailed Cardinal.

It's been a long, cold winter for so many of us and we are all ready for spring.  I'm going to be doing some sorting and tossing and spring cleaning the next couple of weeks, so I'll be posting and commenting as I have time.  Think spring...it'll be here soon!

"...How can one know color in perpetual green,
and what good is warmth without cold
to give it sweetness?"
                                                 ~John Steinbeck

Until next time...

  5. Wow Cheryl; what a wonderful study of birds. If I had all these different song-birds coming into my yard I'd be at the window constantly. You do live in the country though so I guess that is common to see such a variety. I love the Chickadee. Have fun Spring-cleaning. That is one clean-up I love to do. Deb

  8. You and I have about the same crop of lovelies. Such fun to watch. My first robin arrived yesterday only to have to walk around on rock hard 4 inch sleet looking for food. Sure felt sorry for him. Wish they liked seed.

  22. I do love the bird pictures and these were beautiful. I loved them all but I did like the red headed woodpecker. When we lived in Spokane we saw so many birds and other critters. I loved watching them. Here we don't see birds that much. We did have Doves last year that I enjoyed taking pictures of. We have some geese and ducks that live across the street by the river.
I think I might take a short break too. At least I need to get some important things done.
    Blessings for this lovely one~
