It sure is hard to keep your hair in place these last few blustery and rainy days. We've now had plenty of rain and are getting too much. Marble-sized hail fell last night, but at least we didn't have tornado warnings like some folks did. So far. The storms are still coming in from the west as I write this.
"Did someone just say my hair feathers looked windblown?"
I missed out on the Note Card party yesterday. My modem has been acting up and it finally just quit Tuesday afternoon. A new one has been installed and I'm good to go now. I really went through withdrawal symptoms without my computer! Of course, the first thing I did was look at blogs when I got back online.
The first thing I saw, on a blog I like to read, was how to make a burlap bow. I don't know about you, but I'm ignoring the burlap fad. It's just not my thing. And to be honest, I think it stinks. Yes, the fabric smells! Do you like burlap and have you made anything with it?
~My hubby, the lineman~
Thank You to my hubby and all the linemen everywhere for their hard work and dedication. They often work in dangerous conditions to keep the power on and sometimes it is a job that is taken for granted, I think. It's nice to see them recognized this way.
Until next time...
First, your cardinal photos are WAY gorgeous! The close ups are sharp and pretty and even show that little tiny tip at the end of his beak! No, I do not like burlap, it is coarse and itches. I have been known to run hairs into my skin like splinters, so this would be a nightmare. Your husband is brave!!! And dedicated. I see these linesmen here all the time and just marvel at what they do! In fact I have a whole picture folder of linesmen at work.
ReplyDeleteAmen! It's about time linemen ( and women?) are recognized for all the hard work in sometimes very challenging situations.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute picture of the windblown cardinal...that's how I look most days.
Hope the weather moderates for your corner...enough rain, but not too much.
Love the crispness of your Cardinal. For the past month it has been impossible to maintain a decent hair do. Only consolation is that every one else looks the same.
ReplyDeleteWe are expecting rough weather today. Stay safe.
PS.
ReplyDeleteI use to work for Florida Power and light. Line men are my heroes.
i can only imagine doing that job. i bet it is very stressful & i bet all the weather conditions you have to work is just plain tough. thank you!! ( :
ReplyDeletegorgeous cardinal.
Beautiful photos of the cardinal! I think that's awesome about the Lineman Day to recognize these hard and dedicated workers. Their job is dangerous and they are called out in extreme weather conditions to help restore power. I hope this weather clears soon. I see it's spread across the continent again from south to north. Hugs, Pamela
ReplyDeleteYikes, not a job I would like, :)...beautiful Cardinal, love them, Francine.
ReplyDeletethank your hubby for me and God bless all the linemen. without my electric i would go into a tailspin and spiral down and down.... beautiful cardinal even with ruffle hair. feathers i mean. glad you are back on line, when my internet goes out i go crazy
ReplyDeleteCute pictures of Mr. Cardinal sporting his windblown look.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know that linemen now have a day to be appreciated. It takes a brave and dedicated individual to do that job.
As for the burlap, I'm glad to know there's at least one other blogger who isn't into that craze. I can't stand touching it and personally don't see what the big attraction is.
I have to tell you that cardinal is awesome - I don't know how to say it better. sandie
ReplyDeletecongratulations to hubby, on his day.
ReplyDeletehmmmmm, i don't care to decorate with burlap either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty red bird- and yes! I think burlap stinks. I can't imagine any use except for horse feed or some such. I'm glad they have a day of appreciation. I remember how much I appreciated their hard work during a particularly vicious ice storm here in Arkansas. (and every time our power goes out, which is oftener than one would think, but we are rural) I know it is a dangerous job.
ReplyDeleteI sure appreciate Linemen. Tell him thanks for me too. It's a thankless job for sure since we are a society that believes we "deserve" power all the time instead of it being a blessing. And in MO, their job must be a million times more hazardess and difficult.
ReplyDeleteMost certainly appreciate our Linemen! Where would we be without them? Tell your Hubby thanks for us! Your Cardinal is awesome Cheryl! No burlap for me.
ReplyDeletenice! love the picture of the bird
ReplyDeletea huge thank you to your hubby and all of those that do the work to keep us in comfort and convenience! we take so much for granted!
ReplyDelete(like working internet!) :)
I agree a BIG THANK YOU to the lineman and your hubby for all they do. LOVE Red Birds. Ruffled feathers and all.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the cardinal!
ReplyDeleteA big thank you to your husband and all the linemen who work so hard and in tough conditions. Last week there was an ice storm about 60 miles from here and many homes were without electricity. They worked so hard to get things repaired.
The cardinal is so beautiful. A great big thanks to your husband and the others. Have a great day.
ReplyDeletePower - we don't miss it until we don't have it! Thank your husband for his loyalty and courageousness. Thank you to all lineman.
ReplyDeleteMy, what wonderful pics of the cardinal. Perfect. Enjoyed it so much.
Susannah
A big thank you to your hubby and all of the other faithful linemen. It definitely has been blustery! The creeks and ponds are overflowing with all of the rain. I hope we don't go from drought to flooding!
ReplyDeleteYou little feathered friend sure is cute.
Hi Cheryl, Glad you have your modem fixed.. I'm like you ---would hate to be away from my 'puter for long!!!!! ha
ReplyDeleteI don't care for burlap much either.. Used it once on a outside wreath I was making to hang on my door... You are right: it does stink!!!! ha
Yes, KUDOS to your hubby and the linemen who work hard to keep our electricity on!!!
Love your Cardinal photos.
Hugs,
Betsy
Cheryl
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear they are honoring our linemen!
Honestly, I don not like burlap either and it does stink! I think I did make an out door bow for a wreath once, but I don't want it inside at all!
Pretty Red bird.
your cardinal is sooo handsome, i like his spikey do!!
ReplyDeletemy dad was a lineman, they work hard in all kinds of conditions. we sure were lovin' them after super storm sandy!!
I am with you on the burlap smelling. I don't like it either, ... maybe if my home was more of a country home I might like it.
ReplyDeleteSuppose to have bad storms here tonight. I need to make sure I get all my plants in.
Saluting your hubby today, Cheryl!! And, all the others like him who work in the bad conditions so the rest of us can be comfortable!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteps I know. That modem business is a bummer!
Thank you to your hubby and all the linemen. They have very unappreciated jobs...like it is THEIR fault when the power goes out!
ReplyDeleteI am not in the burlap thing either- It makes me itch like crazy and I do think it is a fad that will pass before long...kind of like the wreaths made out of torn up book pages. Haven't seen any of those for a while now either.
Hope you have a great day- xo Diana
I'm glad you're back and give your hubby an extra hug for his good work! I don't use burlap...I don't like the smell or little fibers that fall off! lol Enjoy catching up! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you may have ruffled a few feathers in those pics:@) Your hubby's job is very dangerous and much needed, glad to see the recognition too!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely thankful for men like your husband that keep the power going! Thanks to your husband too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to recognize the hard and dagerous work linemen (and women) do! Kudos to your hubby!
ReplyDeleteLove your cardinal photo -- they are among my favorite birds.
Burlap is not my favorite fabric either. I like soft and colorful fabrics.
Glad you got your computer back online -- I know that awful feeling when they don't work.
The bird pictures are beautiful. Wow, I admire your husband for the work he is doing. I would be so scared to be up high and working with electricity. You have a very brave husband. I don't think we realize how much the lineman do for us in order to keep our lights on especially in bad weather. They then have to go out in the bad weather to fix the line.
ReplyDeleteI for one do not like the smell of burlap and the material is so rough.
Blessings and hugs!
If it's not one thing, it's another. Too dry, too wet, too hot, too cold. We were to have bad weather last night, but thankfully, it weakened before it got here. Yep, burlap stinks . . and sheds . . and is scratchy. I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteYour husband does have a very important job and we really do appreciate him.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
Gorgeous cardinal!
ReplyDeleteWe really appreciate our lineman! We very rarely lose our power. Glad they have a day dedicated to their hard work! :)
hugs,
Marie
Ohhhh... the linemen are working hard here now with the wind and flooding things are a mess.
ReplyDeleteFortuantely I live on a hill.
No burlap in my house. Uh uh!
P.S. Beautiful Cardinal Portrait.
ReplyDeletei love the look of burlap, can't stand the smell so i never use it but it is trendy right now!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Cheryl, I can remember lineman like your hubby coming to my home in the early hours because of our transformer blowing. When you have health issues in the house, you need your lights. We appreciate them at our house and admire them for doing what they do in all kinds of weather. Thank you for stopping by my blog. What part of Missouri are you from? I live in the NW part. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteGood morning..love this post..as I love cardinals!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gert
I thank your hubby and others for their dangerous work.
ReplyDeleteI have a few things in burlap...mostly 'cause it's so HOT right now. I don't like working with it, tho...I have a burlap runner that I love to the moon and back.:)
Beautiful bird photos
ReplyDeleteYour cardinal photo's are gorgeous! I do have a burlap wreath, and I agree, it stinks! Thankful for the lineman!
