The Color of Autumn

"The special gift of frosty days comes now; time to lay down the household tasks and shut the door on routine. For every October, when I see the trees over the meadow, I think, "I shall not look upon her like again." And every October is different, strange with new beauty."   ~Gladys Taber

"How beautifully leaves grow old.  How full of light and color are their last days."   ~John Burroughs

"Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn."
  ~Elizabeth Lawrence

I'm enjoying fall and the colorful trees all around my town.
I feel like I want to just sit on the ground in the midst of the falling leaves and pull the beauty of the season around me much like a cozy quilt on a chilly night.  To keep me warm against the cold and gray winter that is surely coming soon.

The weather is wonderful after the welcome rain over the weekend and it's hard to stay inside.  So, today I'll do a little road tripping and get a few errands done.  Maybe I'll even snap a few more fall scenes.  Happy Monday to you!

Until next time...

  18. I'm really shocked we've had such a pretty fall after the terrible drought. But this has been one of the prettiest, central MO has had in a while.

  20. Your autumn leaves are so vibrant and beautiful!

The pretty fall colors have run their course around here. I think the drought made for the short stay of lively colors.
