White barn on a Missouri farm

This barn photo was taken on a little drive in the country
one afternoon last month.  The grass hadn't turned green yet and
everything looked kind of brown except for the white of the
barn, so I decided to use sepia as my color for this shot.
I couldn't tell if the barn was being used, I hope it is.  The
white paint looks to still be holding up well.  I think the
vine adds interest to the barn, but probably should be
cut down before it does damage.

  3. Sepia is such a great way to compensate for a world that isn't yet green...and makes the barns look so vintage at the same time. Very nice shot!

  4. beautiful! i always like the viney look on things but yeah, they should come out there and tear that off before it's too late!

  6. I agree the paint job is doing wonderfully -- but the roof will need some work if the barn has any chance of remaining upright!

    Great capture, Cheryl. :)

  9. A beautiful shot. I love old vines crawling over everything, but you're right, it can do so much damage.

  14. This is a first for me...I don't think I have ever seen a White Barn.
It is adorable though. Makes you wonder how the "RED" barn thing came about in the first place.
    Have a great day!

  15. I always love vines on buildings, and bet this is really gorgeous when they are growing. But if it were my barn, they would be down. They really do a lot of damage.

  16. Lovely photo effect!!!

Mmmmm, I think that barn is being used. It looks well taken care of.

    Yes, the vine adds interest.

Do vines damage all buildings? Seems they kind of dig into brick. Suppose they dig into any siding... Which doesn't sound good.

RE: Your comment in my blog... Oh my Dear, I have to really work on not letting Political Stuff, raise my blood pressure. Ugh... I used to be able to follow it closely. But the older I get, the less I can handle it. More Ughhhh...

But not paying attention is terrible too. Oh sighhhhhhhhhh...

Guess you YOUNGIN'S have to carry on. Where we "OLDEN" folks have lost our ability to handle getting upset.

  19. Your decision to use the sepia with the landscape and the white with the barn was a great idea. You now have one stunningly pretty picture. It actually looks like a painting to me. What nice processing work. genie

  23. Someone evidently cares or they wouldn't have painted it. Sepia really brings out the white. Really nice shot.

  29. Great capture! The sepia processing is gorgeous. If this charming barn were mine, I'd cut down the vine too... unless it's poison ivy. Then I'd have to get someone else to cut it down.
