Rain...go away

This is the scene looking out of my dirty window this morning.  Rain...go away.  We've had enough for a while.  It's been so very bad in Arkansas with the tornadoes that I shouldn't complain too much.  Hope all our blogging friends are okay.  There are some places in the state here that have had flooding.  Hope the flooding doesn't get out of hand like it did in 1993.

-Today-
Comparing photos of today and 2 weeks ago, you can see a big difference in the trees that are rapidly leafing out.  The redbuds blooming stage is about over, too.

I must get ready soon to go to a visitation with Hubby.  I dread these things.  Really, I almost feel physically sick before I go.  Maybe it's because I've lost too many of my loved ones and friends, I don't  know.  All I know is that I've been trying to think of an excuse not to go and I don't have one.  Just call me a big chicken.  That's what I probably am.  My hubby's aunt died after a battle with cancer.  She was only 5 years older than I am.  It's always sad but I have to get ready to go and pay my respects.  I don't want to.  But I know Aunt's immediate family wishes with all their hearts that they didn't have to, either.

Until next time...

  1. Spring is springing and the rain is everywhere, even here. I am sorry about your husband's aunt. These things are never easy. I'll be thinking of you and the entire family. May it be a time of comfort and family support and the honoring of her life.

  2. I'm sorry to hear about your husbands aunt. I understand what you're saying though..I've lost too many friends and family lately...all to cancer.
I'm tired of the rain. We had it bad last night but not as bad as just further north of us. Tonight is our turn for the rough stuff here in S. Arkansas. The weather channel is already warning us and the Storm Chasers are here! That alone is a scary thought!

  3. Great comparison photos for the "degree of Spring" you've reached!

I often find myself looking for a reason...any reason...not to attend these kinds of events. I go, but find it so awkward and uncomfortable. I don't think you're "chicken" at all...just tender-hearted and sympathetic!

  4. So sorry about the loss. Sometimes visitations can be awkward, but I feel that it's so important to go. Partly out of respect, but mostly to comfort the family.
I know when we've had a death in the family, it's meant so much that people took time to come and be with us.

  5. Sorry about your hubby's aunt. I must say, Cheryl, I empathize with you on this. I'm the same way! Also agreed on the rain... it's getting just a wee bit depressing, although I too am thankful we haven't had the devastation that has been seen by Arkansas and other states. Let's hope we don't. Bless you and yours, and here's hoping for some sunshine and warmer temps soon! -Tammy

  6. My thoughts go out to both of you; it is always hard to lose someone you love.
It seems like it is going to rain forever here. The dark clouds seem to cause an additional feelings of sadness.
We do need to count our blessings that we are not in the tornado belt. However, I do have two daughters one lives in South Dakota and one in Missouri; so it's a concern.
Loved your pictures; there is spring coming I see.
    Blessings to you!

  7. All that rain, and we have been so, so dry. Needed rain so bad. our new pastor prayed this past Sunday for rain and guess what, it has been raining all afternoon. Praise God.
Hope the sun shines for you and I pray that your heart will be at ease.

  8. Good Morning Cheryl,
I'm sorry to learn of your husbands Aunt...it's so hard on everyone when a loved one passes away. I hope your rain ends soon...you could send us yours as we could sure use it over here in Kansas. We got some rain over the last few days but I'd be surprised if it added up to much more than an inch in our area. The strange thing is that even when we've had a bit of sun the last few weeks it seems to be very windy or cool. It's a strange spring for a lot of us. I hope you're feeling better tomorrow and I hope the sun is finally shining for you. Take care.

  9. I know what you mean about going to visitations, Cheryl. It is very difficult to do - especially when the person is close to your age. My husband works at a funeral home and it doesn't bother him a bit. I guess one can get used to anything.

I remember well the flood of 93! My 20 minute drive to work turned into a 3 hour drive because 54 washed out at Cedar City. So many lost so much. I haven't seen an update on Poplar Bluff. So many are in danger.

    Take care. Deanna

  10. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's aunt, Cheryl. I understand your feelings on going to the visitation as I am much the same.
If it's true what they say about April showers, then your May flowers should be beautiful.
