Just want to say...

Thank you dear blogging friends for your sweet comments on my last post.  I was really feeling a bit depressed and, as you know, didn't want to go to the visitation.  I'm not one to pretend everything is hunky-dory when it darn well isn't so I just let it all hang out.   Aunt was a beautiful lady and she'll be missed by all her family and friends.  And, yes, I did go and I'm glad I did.

Hopefully, the weather will behave itself for a couple of days and we can return to our work outside.  Hubby brought the equipment home to locate our electric lines so we can begin planting.  Here are the pretty flags decorating part of the yard...I doubt we'll plant much close to the tree, but I'm glad to know where the lines are.   Just a reminder...if you don't know where your utility lines are buried, please find out before digging!

The next photo shows what we've been doing inside the house when we can't work outside.  Getting rid of 20 years accumulation of stuff!  I hate to admit it, but we had the dumpster unloaded once and we filled it again.  I really didn't need magazines dating back to 1988.  Ha!  Or the old resin table that graced our patio once upon a time.  Or the other hundred and one things that I wouldn't want to give away or put on a garage sale.

We had the dumpster picked up a week or so ago and I really think I've found enough stuff to fill it again!  Just call me a pack rat.  Make that former pack rat as I'm determined to rid myself of stuff that I don't need, use or love.  I have quite a bit more to do.   It may take all spring and summer.  Wish me luck.

As soon as I get a photo taken, I'll show you some of the things I'd forgotten I had.   I guess it's as they say, out of sight and out of mind.

I pray that all of our blogging friends in the states where the tornadoes hit are safe.

Until next time...

  1. Greetings from a fellow pack-rat. And my habits haven't changed....yet.

My thoughts are also with those affected by the latest tornadoes. Such frightening weather recently....

  2. I am so into the de-clutter thing too!
It's great that hubby can bring his work home with him. LOL, I've done that myself.
    Looks like sun today!!
I will be absent for a few days, we are taking the camper to Sedalia for a blacksmith meeting!
    Blessings

  3. That de-cluttering is a lot of work, but I always feel such a sense of satisfaction when it's done. Once in a while I watch "Hoarders, Buried Alive". That show is enough to discourage me from keeping a lot of unnecessary things. LOL.
Good advice on calling to locate the utility lines. It reminds me of the time my husband was trying out his new rototiller and hit the gas line. It was an anxious moment, but in fairness the gas line wasn't buried as deep as it should have been.
    Good luck with your projects.

  4. Glad you are okay, Cheryl. We are also--but had a very rough day yesterday...There were storms and severe weather south of us and east of us. We got lucky--but I'm sad for all of those affected by yesterday's storms.

Good Luck with getting rid of 'stuff'... We face that HUGE job when we clear out G's parents' home... Yipes.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  6. So glad that you went and I'm sure that it was appreciated by your husband's family.

Oh I want to hear more about your decluttering. I need to do so much of it.

  7. I did the downsizing thing last year and got rid of tons of stuff. It amazes me how it collects over time. I ended up having a rummage sale to get rid of most of mine. Now I need to do it all over again. I vowed never to, but somehow stuff has creeped back and I need to de-clutter.

  8. Why do we accumulate so much stuff? I can clean out a drawer and within a few weeks, the thing is crammed full again. Our youngest daughter, oh my...she never keeps junk..
I sometimes wish I could be more like that. I just get to thinking I might need something later...

You have to admit though, that it does feel good to get rid of a few things.

  9. Hi Cheryl!

It's been a few days since I've posted, and I was sorry to hear about your loss. Visitations are hard for me too, but I know that your aunts family probably drew from your strength and beautiful spirit.

I have been doing tons of cleaning out too! Last week we cut the limbs of our four huge pine trees up 9 feet!! It was hard work - and I felt it the next morning... ;0) I have also been cleaning out inside, going through old pictures, and just old stuff!! I find it to be emotionally draining, but necessary.

We got 2 inches of new snow last night - I too am sick of the weather. We still have sooooo much snow in the mountains, so if it gets warm too fast, we will flood, and that's no fun either! I guess we can't win for losing sometimes! But, I know that Spring is on the way! My prayers are also with those who have had to suffer through the tornadoes, what a tragedy!

Can't wait to see your fun finds!

    Hugs,
    Barb
