This and That

This is a Keeping It Real post today.  We're going into the third week of August and fall is knocking on our door.  I'm more than ready for our vacation next month.  I won't deny that last week was not my best.  Having a woozy head most of the week, the depressing news around the world, a mix up in an appointment, plus a plumbing problem didn't make for a great week.

More appointments are on the calendar for this week.  A redo of one that I went to last week.  When I got to X-ray on Wednesday for a bone scan, the technician told me that I was just there in February and nothing would have changed in 6 months plus my insurance wouldn't cover the cost if one is done more than once a year.  So I went back home.

My memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I thought all the way home that she was wrong.  I got home and looked on my calendar at my February appointments and there it was.  Yes, I'd gone in to the same place but it was for an ABI, not a bone density test.  An ABI is a test for peripheral arterial disease.  Which I don't have, btw.  So, I called back and explained and they looked again on their end and said I was right and apologized profusely for the mistake, so now I will going back this week for the test.  Oh well, maybe I'll get to see the geese crossing the highway again.

Another appointment this week is the dreaded dental appointment. Folks, I hate going.  Hate it.
I'd rather have a gyn exam.  Seriously.  I'll be glad when that day is over.  Am I the only one with dental phobia here?

The water problem in the downstairs bathroom reared it's ugly head again last week.  Just when you think you have a problem solved...surprise!  There it is again.
.
I didn't know what would be involved in the bathroom water fix.  I'm afraid I lost my hearing after I heard the words jack-hammer and breaking up concrete.  All I could think about was that I was going to have to change our home's name from Pond Hollow to Grumpy Villa.  Oh, I wasn't being pessimistic...just realistic!  Of all the household problems BG dreads the most, it's plumbing issues.

The good news is that a little ole 9 dollar sewer tape threaded through some pipes this weekend cleared out what was stopping up the pipe and causing the water to run out a place in the wall.  Okay, I'm not sure how it got to the spot in the wall because Grumpy BG wasn't much in the mood to answer too many questions.  It did take a lot longer to fix the problem than my telling about it, but he seems to think that the problem is solved because the water, which was coming from the kitchen drains, did stop running in.  Yay!

Happy Monday to you!
xo Cheryl

  3. Your cone flowers are TOO cute, your water worries, it seems, ACUTE, and those geese, a hoot, which, btw, a visit to the dentist, isn't, but at least your memory is working better than you had thought, and that's always something to 'remember'!';))

    Have a happy week!

  6. First of all, you have such gorgeous photos, I love all of them!! I understand about the mix up on your appointments. I had someone tell me one time..over and over that I'd had this test done a year ago...(I would have remembered...) hard to convince them! Dentists..yuck ..I know! But it's so much better in these days, compared to yesteryear! (Probably where we got the fear!)

    Blessings,
    Gert

  13. It's the little annoyances that seem to wear a person down. And I can be so annoyed when the medical community messes us. Really! What do the truly infirm do when dealing with such incompetence? It is annoying and having just had some firsthand experience with it myself, I am annoyed for you. Not helpful, but at least you know I'm sympathetic. Glad that the plumbing issue is fixed. Phew! The days and nights are cooler here as well, but I am NOT saying that word because it has been such a fall-like summer.

  14. Can't tell you how many appointments I've been late to, skipped all together or scheduled too early. This is just in the last 6 months. I worry about me. :) Now I'll worry about you.

  15. Love the flowers, hate the dentist...

  16. Cheryl, I have said the exact same thing about the gyn versus the dentist. I HATE.HATE.HATE being at the dentist. I have to get my first crown this week and I dread it so, so much. We have plumbing issues now too, but thankfully, they are not urgent, but just maintenance. Love your flowers. Hope you have a better time in the coming days/weeks.

  17. Your photos are wonderful, especially the glorious coneflowers!! so you have come back strong and beautifully from a bad week!! Speaking of dentists, I have has three root canals, one in which the anesthetic did not work so I had to have it done in three stages. I also fell last year and knocked out my front teeth. So this has kind of cured me of just a regular checkup. I'm so glad the water problem was fixed so easily!! Bathroom problems are my most dreaded!!!

I hope the dental appt. goes smoothly and that you have a better week.

  20. Oh, I hate a week like that one. I have a dentist appointment too and I actually have too. One is for the regular dentist and one for a dentist that treats TMJ; which I think I have. Yes, I have Dental Phobia too.
Loved the flowers and the geese. We had about 20 plus across our street a couple of days ago. My husband got some pictures we will have to post.
Blessings for a good pain free dentist appointment for you!

  21. Hopefully, your nasty plumbing problem is over... I feel the same way... Plumbing problems are the WORST... Glad you are feeling better... Please be careful and take care of yourself.

Sorry about the mixed-up appointment.. Shame on them for getting it mixed up... Oh Well.. We are all human --and we can ALL make mistakes I guess... Hope the Bone Density test comes out okay... I had one this past year --and so far, so good for me.

I am not a 'dentist' person either. I hate spending the amount of money we have to spend when we go there. Another reason I hate going to the dentist is because when I was little, my family dentist did not use Novocain or anything to numb the area... YIPES ---hurt like crazy!!!! That's why I hated and still hate going to the dentist.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  22. Hey, you have had a rough week but the good news is that you won the memory battle. That is huge. Also, no jackhammers, another biggie. Now if you can get that dizzy stuff to go away--life will be good again. Hope it is soon behind you along with that dentist.
The only problem I have with a dentist is the price they charge. Yikes.

  23. Hello Cheryl,
You certainly had less than a stellar week. May this week be much better for you!!!

Here's hoping that your plumbing problem is indeed fixed, and stays fixed.

I too HATE the dentist!! Could be when I was a young girl, the tooth the dentist was drilling wasn't numb enough.
I winced, and tears rolled down my cheeks. The dentist slapped me. Yes. Told me to stop being a big baby.
He should see me now!!!!**Ha**!!! I'm the biggest baby of all.

Take your ipod, and tune out :)
I'll be sending good wishes your way.

    love,
    K.

  24. Oh, Cheryl, I feel your pain with it all. I think the older we get, the more this stuff bothers us, too.

  25. Hey there Cheryl.....so sorry for your somewhat depressing time last week. Just makes you want to crawl back in bed and stay there until the difficult times pass. Love, love your photos today...so very clear and pretty! Just think, you have vacation time just ahead....enjoy!

  26. Cheryl, Sounds like a bad week...that plumbing problem is scary. I really like my dentist, but hate going. I some times think I will just get dentures and be done with the drilling, filling, root canals , caps , and crowns, and it goes on and on. Sure I have a million dollar smile, that's what it is starting to cost. LOL I have been praying for peace in Mo. and around the world. Blessings and good wishes to you. xoxo,Susie

  28. Glad the plumbing fix was that simple.

I am a like you about the dentist. I find myself gripping the chair with white knuckles and my body is so tense it is almost off the chair. I have to tell myself to relax. This dentist is so good and never has hurt me too badly other than that first needle prick.......now have I got you really scared? Hope not.

  29. We had a week like that last week Cheryl! Tests for CH and we have a leak some place in the house that is making the blue thingie in the basement that does something for the well click on when it shouldn't. I have been hoping for a quiet no drama week this week. I have a dental appt in October and I am already dreading it!

  30. Hi Cheryl, I am using me time on my birthday to catch up with my friends today. It has been so enjoyable doing what I wanted to do. I am glad that you are feeling much better. It is not fun when you don't feel good. I don't have to worry about the dentist since I have dentures, but oh how I hated them especially when the dentist capped my two front teeth without deaden them. The weekend was beautiful, but the heat is back. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

  31. I hate the Dentist too! But it is a necessary evil if you want to continue to chew..old age sucks. I hope your week improves, I hate weeks filled with appointments and stuff that must be done. Glad you got your plumbing problems solved:)

  32. Love the flowers a couple of my favorites. I would rather do just about anything else than go to the dentist, nothing against dentist's (LOL) I hope your week is going good.

  33. The photo of the purple coneflowers is so bright and cheerful! Very pretty. Glad your plumbing problem is likely solved. I don't like going to the dentist either. Once that's done, you will probably feel much better.

  34. first off..love your coneflowers...one of my favorite flowers.
I'm sorry for the rerun of the doctor's office. And, just the THOUGHT of going to the dentist almost makes my hair fall out, my arms fall off and go into heart attack mode...I. HATE. IT.

  35. Nice photos, but annoying about the appointment mixup on their part. And yikes on the plumbing problem. There's always something, isn't there. I hate going to the dentist too, now that my dentist so selfishly retired. Lol he was so good and always pain free. I don't trust the new guy. Plus the new hygienist I swear is reincarnated from the Spanish Inquisition. It was terrible. I bumped my next cleaning forward to September but now I'm dreading September! Hope things are getting better for you. :-)

  36. gorgeous shots...ugh, i hate the dentist too and missed my appointment last week. the dumb place never sent me a reminder card so it slipped my mind and now i can't get in until sept or october...just a cleaning but still, ugh!!
