Friday - Random 5

1.  I love all flowers of all colors, but yellow flowers just might be my favorite color.  They are just so cheerful, you can't help but smile!

2.  We got over 4 inches of needed rain night before last.  That made me smile, too.  The clouds moved out yesterday and we were left with pretty blue skies for the afternoon.

3.  Today is cloudy and cooler but still very humid.  I decided to take a walk on the trail at one of our smaller lakes after my doctor's visit yesterday.  It was just a routine checkup, but after discussing my tiredness the good doctor, after reminding me that at 60 something I shouldn't expect to feel like 40 something, suggested that I needed to start moving more.  So, I hit the trail today and I had my little camera in my pocket.

4.  We did not get one peach off our tree this year.  We were watching them and waiting for them to ripen.  One day I went out to look and not one was to be found.  I think I know who to blame for the disappearing fruit.  I zoomed in on the culprit while she was walking to the pond for a drink the other day.  Is she sticking her tongue out at me???  Maybe she's just licking her chops after polishing off the peaches!

5.  Do you ever wish that school started after Labor Day like it used to many years ago?  I don't have kids in school, but it seems to me that the start of school signals the end of summer and even though I'm looking forward to our September vacation, I'm not ready for summer to end!  What say you?

I'm late with my post today, but I am joining Tanya's Willy Nilly Friday 5.

Happy Friday to you!
xo Cheryl

  4. Love your photos . . . The one leg lift brought a smile . . .
School days in hot August weather seems like a bit much. What happened to school beginning in September?

  5. Beautiful pictures! Especially loving those cheerful yellow flowers!
Durn deer.. next year you'll have to spray some deer deterrent.
So far, the deer deterrent has worked on my tomatoes.. Yay!!!

Oh, yes.....school starts much too soon!!! Poor kids!!!
Also, the school years are getting longer and longer.

It's hard to endure the last days of Summer when we have Fall in our hearts ***smile**

    Happy weekend.

  6. I do believe that school should not begin until after Labor Day. I even had parents who informed the school that they would not be returning their children to school until after the holiday. The principal would fume and I would secretly cheer. Now that deer is pretty cheeky! Licking her chops like that! Lovely photos as always... I need to move more as well.

  7. LOVE that dear deer. Sorry about your peaches though. I LOVE autumn more than summer, but with the cooler summer we've had, I don't mind it sticking around a little longer.

  8. That's a good picture of the deer. Today was the first day of school in Tipton. The boy next door got on the bus...and I wanted to cry. He was in kindergarten when we moved here and now he's in 8th grade. xoxo,Susie

  9. What a pretty deer...but I'm sorry you didn't get any peaches. We're getting the rain now so I'm not sure we'll get to walk any the next couple of days. Enjoy your weekend! Hugs!

  10. I wish school started after Labor Day too. I have little great nieces that have been in school over a week now!
Your yellow flowers are so pretty and the snap of the deer is priceless. I say, she is licking her chops after enjoying your peaches!

  11. I didn't know deer ate peaches. That's interesting....and she's licking her lips!
You're not the only one wishing school still started after Labor Day....every kid in America does, too, I'd be willing to bet.
I LOVE sunflowers. I take WAY too many pictures of them. But, each one is different. We need rain desperately here....probably won't get any until the hurricanes start and push some clouds up this direction. Hate that others have to suffer for us to prosper!

  13. Is this the same doctor that prescribed antiques shopping? Better listen to him! I'm afraid I need to move more too. Sigh...

Your peach-eater sure is cute! I think I'd almost be able to forgive him...

  14. Hi Cheryl!

Your pictures are gorgeous, as always! I love photos of clouds, and flowers and peach thieves!!

I really need to start moving more, I can feel it, every time I stand up, my feet complain a lot! My mother decided that she would get an electric chair, because she didn't like to walk to the dining room where she lives. That was about 5 years ago - she can barely walk today, all because she chose to sit! Walking is so important! Kudos to you for deciding to take that walk!

    Have a wonderful week-end!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  15. School doesn't start here in Ontario until after Labour Day weekend. They do start earlier in Quebec, though. Glad to hear all is well with you, Cheryl. I know what you mean about forgetting that you are not 40 anymore. I'm the same. Yellow flowers are my favorite, too. My #1 flower, though, is the daisy. Have a great weekend and make time for yourself. Hugs, Deb

  16. Beautiful pictures. I love watching the clouds, but you already know that from seeing my blog.In Canada we do start school after Labor Day.Yes that does seem to signal the end of summer.

  17. I like yellow flowers the best too! School starts in Minnesota the day after labor day. North Dakota starts earlier than that. I am tired too..I guess moving more is possible. No peach pie for you..darn deer:(

  18. Yellow flowers are like mini morsels of the sun and they spread cheery and vitality when you greet them, wouldn't you say? Walking is definitely the way to go when one needs to incorporate some form of exercise in their daily routine. I love walking in the winter and swimming in the summer, as I need to cool down with the sizzling temps, here on the island. Thanks for the sweet pics! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  19. I am sorry about the crop failure. The cute Bambis ate my new McIntosh apple tree down to the trunk last fall. It was so disappointing. I think the schools here start after Labor Day but for many years they were starting about the 3rd week of August. That's too soon. Now they just go longer in the springtime.

  21. Hi Cheryl! I am glad school didn't start till Sept. when my kids were in school. I love summertime and was always sad when my kids went back. Have a nice weekend! Twyla

  22. I need to get moving too! We didn't get four inches but we did get a bit over two. I heard the Oaks sigh. Sorry about your peaches! I have been craving peach cobbler!!!

  23. Maybe the deer is doing both...sticking her tongue out at you and licking her lips after polishing off a peach. ;)

Our schools go back after Labor Day. I think it's too early to go back before too.

  24. Lovely photos! We have a herd of deer that visits us every evening. We leave out deer corn for them. There are four fawns this year --- so sweet. Our dog doesn't bother them at all. He watches them as they hang out with the chickens. One of these days I need to take a video. The only trouble is that the deer run when they see me!

  25. Awesome post, so glad you're able to get out and walk. It's such a great exercise! Hope it makes you feel better!

  26. Can so agree with you on needing to move. I've strapped a pedometer to my shoe and am cranking out the steps.
You are lucky you have such a pretty place to walk.
I had a very similar bandit in my fruit trees last year. They can be quite thorough. But as pretty as they are, I don't fuss much.

  27. Very difficult to deer proof the yard. My roses are gone. Funny how they can delicately lift off the leaves and petals and not get the thorns.

  28. Cheryl, Your photos are beautiful. The squirrels wait for our tomatoes to start turning red and then eat them all. We did get some Roma tomatoes that we planted on the patio--I guess they were too small!
    Love,
    Marie

  29. I love yellow flowers too, they just brighten everything up. It seems like school around her keeps starting earlier and earlier. They are talking about year round school for the kids. I just turned 60 a few months ago and I seem to be more tired too. So he said if we move more that we will get more energy. Than I need to do that too. HA! HA!

  31. sunflowers always make me smile! that deer is beautiful and you're kind to share. :) It has been so nice here, the rain cooled things off so much that I've had the air off for two days!

  32. Lovely pictures and I especially liked the one of the deer. He is probably the culprit for eating the peaches. We had deer come up to our yard when we lived in Washington and they would eat a lot of our foliage.
I feel tired too and I am older than you; and should realize that I can't do all I think I can do. I am finally back riding my stationary bike which is good. I hope it will increase my energy a little.
Yes, I liked it when school started after Labor day. I feel sad that children don't get to have as long of summer.
    Blessings and hugs!

  33. Such lovely photos.. that deer is so sweet. You Amurikans do send your kids back to school early. Here, in Canada, (at least in Quebec and Ontario.. where I've lived) the first day of school is always the day after Labour Day. But the kidlets do have a later school year.. ending around the third week in June.
