Spring Is Here!

Happy Spring!

I want to thank each of you for your very nice comments on my birthday post.  Thank you!!  I had a wonderful birthday and getting to celebrate in Branson was the icing on the cake!  To be honest, it's been a little hard to get back into the swing of things since we got back home.  I've not yet started on the dirty laundry we brought back.  The kitties have wanted lots of attention and I've had one or the other on my lap each time I've sat down.  Stormy started off with her usual pouting which lasts only a day, then she was all about getting attention.  She makes us laugh because she does this every time we go away for a few days.

I want to show you these beautiful flowers, another birthday surprise from my handsome son who had gone shopping while I took a little nap the afternoon of my birthday.  Later that evening, we went to dinner and I wore the pretty bracelet my daughter had gotten me.  I must say that it was a special birthday and I didn't mind a bit turning 70 years young!  I only wish our daughter could have stayed longer, but she had to get back to work.

The photo above shows the sun coming up on our last day in Branson this trip.  I didn't want to leave, but we'll be back!

I love spring!  The redbuds and other flowering trees were blooming all over Branson.  So pretty!  We have much the same here except the redbuds aren't open yet.  Which is a good thing as we have a freeze warning for tonight.  One of our fruit trees has blooms, so we covered it.  After a couple of chilly days, it's supposed to warm up again this week.

I snapped the forsythia at The Project aka the rental house.  BG worked on the electric wiring there this weekend.  I think he may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...at least as far as figuring out where all the wires went to.  Now that he's traced them all down and written on his chart where each one goes, it's time to replace them with new.

I have to make a run to the home improvement store tomorrow for some outlet boxes.  He's had to take out part of the sheetrock to get the old ones out in the living room.  It couldn't be helped, but that means some repair to the walls and repainting will be needed.

And, it's that time to think about spring cleaning.  That may be all I do...think about it!  How about you?  Is spring cleaning on your agenda?  If I can get a couple of closets cleaned out and a couple of new blinds hung up, I'll probably call it good.  :)

Have a nice Monday!
xo Cheryl

  1. Cheryl, Glad your trip and birthday was fun. The flowers are pretty. I know you loved your family time. The trees look so beautiful. Spring cleaning...what is that? LOL..I used to wash the walls down and shampoo carpets and such...not any more. :) I just clean all the time and think why clean on clean. Oh I still see dust and dirt here....and wonder where does it all come from...Blessings to you for a nice new Spring. xoxo,Susie

  3. I always think the next decade sounds better than the old one. Forty sounds "younger" to me than 39 for example. I know. I think funny. Glad that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Always a positive. The blossoms are beautiful in your corner. (ackkk...your blog is one that blooger bumped...grrr...teying to get it back.)

  7. You and your cool family made your Birthday special as it should be. Now back to normal--yawn. I need to think about spring cleaning but I will let the brief freeze put it on the back burner for a while. Procrastination is the jewel of retirement.

  8. Hi Cheryl, Sounds like an awesome Birthday Trip... Congrats on hitting 70.... I'll be 74 in August and George just turned 74 on 3/9.. SO---we're hear to tell you that the 70's (so far) have been wonderful for us... Hopefully they will be for you also!!!!

I know how much you love Branson... AND---from experience, I also know how hard it is to get back in the swing of things once you/we get back home from a vacation....

    Great set of pictures....

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. Happy belated birthday! Sorry I missed it. Love all the spring springing out in your area.

When our kids were young and we would be gone for a few days, Sarah's cat would pout and hide when we got home. She would have to hunt the house over and drag him out of places and hold him by force for just a few minutes and then he would be fine.

  14. Gorgeous flowers indoors and blooms outside, Cheryl! I have a forsythia in my backyard...I love bringing a few branches in when it blooms.

I'm wondering about the rental house. Just got a little lost as to how that plays out...do you own it and rent it out? Or is it a place you will be moving to? Am I nosy? lol!!!

    Happy Spring!!

  16. All those blooms in Branson were so pretty! I love forsythia--my Mother had many bushes of them in her backyard when I was growing up and they were the first flowers of Spring.

Usually in spring we have to do a lot of yard work. When the snow melts we see all the deer and rabbit "presents" that we have to scoop up and dispose of

  17. Hi Cheryl~

Happy late Birthday!!!! Beautiful flowers! Sounds like you had a perfect day, filled with family, just like it should be!

Your pictures of Branson are so pretty, the blossoms are gorgeous! We are still in the deep freeze here, I don't expect to see blossoms for another month . . . at least! The grass is getting green, and the trees are starting to get big fat buds on them, so it won't be long now.

I have been spring cleaning - it was so needed! I'm almost done with the main part of the house, but I still have lots of work to do! It has been more than a few years since I have really just scrubbed the walls and ceilings, so it was a good thing! After it's done, I will start on the outside, yikes!!

    Have a wonderful Easter!

    Hugs,
    Barb
