This sunset photo was taken last week. There was a nice breeze blowing which created a ripple effect on the lake which marred the reflection in the water. It got me to thinking about the ripple effect of words spoken or written. A careless word tossed out can create a ripple of hurt that is often not intended, but once said it can cause hurt feelings or heartache. Likewise, a kind word spoken or written can bring joy and comfort which can last for some time.
The comments I received on my post written for Kris were so kind and I thank you all so much! The feature was fun to do, but at the same time a bit scary as I'm not one to talk about myself too much.
But, those ripple effects of kindness have carried me through the past 48 or so hours as I've been really sick with some kind of virus. I've had fever, chills, sore throat, headache and stomach cramps. I have been fortunate not to get very sick the past few years, so this hasn't been much fun. My head has been so befuddled that I barely know what day it is. The worst is over now, I think, and I'll catch up with everyone as soon as I can!
PS To my new followers: please leave me a comment with a link to your blog and I'll be happy to follow you back. Thanks!
Happy Tuesday to you!
xo Cheryl
that photos is spectacular.. phooey on being sick, and glad you are some better. that is the gospel truth about ripples caused by words. i can remember every hurtful word anybody said to me from way back at age 6 and onto today. like it digs its way in the brain. glad the good comments helped

ReplyDeleteA beautiful post Cheryl. The photo is just stunning and your words are so true. Our words carry so much power...hopefully for the good but unfortunately can cause damage if we are not careful...such a great reminder! I'm sorry you have been sick. You sound a lot like me...I never get sick but when I do, I don't know how to act. Feel better soon, friend!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have been unwell but glad you areon the mend now. I totally agree with you on the ripple affect for good or bad. People do not realsiethe power there is in wordsspoken orwritten. Now this is a spectatular image.
ReplyDeleteGlad the worse is over. Keep getting better! Lovely picture. Words are very powerful.

ReplyDeleteHowdy, I've been meaning to tell you how much I love your post about yourself that you wrote... I knew most everything about you --including Branson and "The Project" ---but didn't realize that you had owned a little craft shop before. How special. I have NONE of those kinds of talent at all!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose wicked viruses are not much fun... Hope you feel better today. Love love love your sunset picture.

Betsy

I do hope you feel much better soon. Being sick is not the way you want to spend your days.Beautiful picture and words.
ReplyDeleteYikes, that sounds like the flu. I do hope you are feeling better and are able to keep hubby safe from your germs. You are so right about the power of words. Hope the kind words helped make the illness a wee bit better. Be totally well soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl~
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your illness! I know that there are several really bad viruses going around the country, sounds like you got one...big hugs to you sweet friend.
Words are like ripples, the good words can carry us through for a long time, and even ripple down to friends and family, even to people we don't know. If they are bad, or degrading, they can wear us down, and again, ripple down to friends and family. On Sunday, I was teaching a lesson to young women and our lesson was about; words we speak, words we read, and words we write. In the scriptures, it tells us that we should, speak with the tongues of angels . . . I like that. You are such an angel, and you always say such nice things!! I hope you are up and feeling like yourself very quickly!!
I adore your picture of the sunset and lake . . . so gorgeous!!
XO
Barb
What a beautiful photo, Cheryl and I agree with your thoughts on words. So true.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you've been so sick. I hope you are now on the road to recovery.
Hope you are feeling better, Cheryl. Enjoyed reading the post you wrote about yourself, interests, family, etc. it was very nicely done. Thanks for sharing with all of us fellow bloggers. This post about the ripple effect of words was so true, sadly enough. It's far better to look at ripples like in your photo, than to cause them. And, yes, I have also slowed down my blogging and not doing daily posts as in the past.
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by from Junk Chic Cottage! Wow, what a sunset photo - magnificent! Hope you are feeling better by now!

Well, Cheryl, this is my third trip coming here today, I just had to come back to tell you how much I enjoyed reading about you at Junk Chic Cottage, and I now know why we get along so well, ~wink< ... we have so much in common, I too am a middle child, a romantic and married a very special guy too! my decorating style is eclectic, and love it, we are very close to our children too, though they live far away, but we remain close! I wish you and I lived near, we would really enjoy visiting one another for now I will settle for blogging, ~smile~

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to learn that you've been sick!! Those are some l-o-n-g days, aren't they? Hope you're on the mend...but do take it easy!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about words! They can be a balm to the soul, or they can wound.
Wising you fast recovery. As a precaution I always eat a lot of garlic and I drink a cup of tea with lemon and honey during Fall time. It has kept me running without any colds so far:-)
ReplyDeleteGreat sunset!
gorgeous shots. so lovely. hope you will be well again soon. we are having lots of rain. is the middle of the US doing the same, with bad weather? sometimes i think our news is just not that great. i had to wait until the National news to hear of the sad shooting ... so broke my heart. that is just too too sad. i hope you have a good weekend. all the best. ReplyDeleteI've heard about a few people getting that nasty virus, I hope that you are feeling much better soon. And what a treat to have Kris do a feature on you! I will have to stop by and read it. Donna interviewed me and she is such an amazing writer I honestly didn't recognize myself. LOL.
