Today I thought I'd share a little about our Branson vacation. The view from our deck that BG is looking at isn't quite as far away as it appears in the photo.
Lots of folks say they don't like to go to Branson because of the crowds of people. I'm not into crowds, either, but I just love this area too much to let that bother me. The scenery is beautiful and the people are so friendly here. There are any number of things to do if we decide to leave our beautiful condo and of course there are a gazillion places to eat if you don't want to fix your own meals.
It's all about the food...when I'm away from home. And there are certain things I just have to have everytime we go to Branson. One is a yummy old-fashioned chocolate soda at the Hard Luck Diner where they have singing waiters. Another is a fish sandwich at Danna's. And I love the skillet bowls at Silver Dollar City.
I don't have a photo, but we also ate dinner at another favorite place, Shorty Small's. They have the best bbq ribs I've ever eaten!
Most mornings I fixed breakfast at the condo, but one morning we drove to Billy Gail's. I had heard about this place, but in all the years we've been going to Branson, we'd never been there. Boy, have we been missing out! This is such a cool place! It was a gas station at one time and they've added on to it. The rustic look inside and out is just what I love. Apparently a lot of other people love it, too, because there was a bit of a wait to get in.
The food was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. We ordered a pancake besides the usual bacon and eggs...sausage for BG...to split between us and it was bigger than the plate.
Another great meal was during a show at the Dixie Stampede. It was more than I could eat!
If you are in Branson and want to see a good show, this one is excellent. Upon arriving, you walk past the beautiful horses in their stalls and enter the building to watch the Carriage show before the main show in the arena where you are also served a 4 course meal. Fun!
We have season tickets to Silver Dollar City and always visit there each time we go to Branson. We were greeted by roosters and chickens and lots of flowers were still blooming, and they were beginning to decorate for fall.
We always stop in at the Wilderness Church. There's BG checking out the pews. It was going to be a hot day, but it was cool inside the church.
A group we enjoy seeing each visit is called the Homestead Pickers. They were playing in the pavilion this trip.
Here is a look at the kitchen in the condo where we stayed. I didn't do a lot of cooking, mainly breakfasts. Who wants to cook on vacation? Actually it was fun to cook in a different kitchen for a change.
I hope you enjoyed my little tour of Branson as much as I enjoyed looking at my photos to share with you, while remembering the fun and relaxing time we had there.
There are lots of things we want to get done before the snow starts to fly this winter. Now that we are rested up, it's time to get busy again.
We've had a few little showers since we've been home. The run to the home center had to be canceled because it rained. We were going to get some more sheets of drywall and a few other things needed to work at the other house. I'm going to start on a few things here at home as soon as I shake loose a few kitties that missed me. They have followed me from room to room. It's nice to feel so loved. lol!
Happy Thursday to you!
xo Cheryl
Hello Cheryl, the condo looks beautiful. I would like that kitchen. But, I am with you there should be no cooking while on vacation. Your meals all look delicious. and the view is pretty. I like the cute roosters too. It looks like you had a great time, love the photos. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good trip with plenty of good food and views. Love the funky chickens and rooster
ReplyDeleteThank you for the Branson overview . . .
ReplyDeleteLooks like great events and FOOD too!
Nice view from your condo!
it has been years since we went on a vacation, but when we used to take regular ones, we ate 2 meals a day, because once we ate out 3 times and because we were to full the next day could not eat breakfast until lunch time. i never cooked on vacation since i hardly cook at home. i love the wilderness church, the Billy Gail restaurant. i love log cabins and rustic. that chocolate soda looks mighty fine..
ReplyDeleteWell that sounds like a truly wonderful trip! Your condo looks so homey and all your photos are great. I really like the colors and decor of the restaurant that you visited. Now I want to go to Branson more than ever!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us along on your vacation!! Your condo was lovely! There really is something appealing about cooking in a different kitchen. I wonder what that is? But one of the great parts of vacation is being able to relax and eating wonderful meals that you didn't prepare (or clean up!). Good times!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome view. You all do Branson right. Someday I will catch the Dixie Stampede. It is on my to do list. So glad you got some well earned R&R.
ReplyDeleteWith all that good food around,I might not be able to walk to the events.Silver a Dollar a City has lots of good shows,or so I've heard.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Branson. Your view is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your pictures of Branson, it's on my bucket list!! I have a friend who is going there in a few weeks with her sisters, and I am so jealous!! It just looks and sounds like an amazingly fun place to visit!
I'm ready for fall, I have been canning and freezing like crazy, because October is such a busy month for me. I'm hoping to get everything out of the garden and have it tilled by the first of October! Maybe life will settle down enough that I can post a few blogs by then!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures, and letting me live life in Branson through you!!
Hugs,
Barb

ReplyDeleteWe have never been to Branson...to many people..LOL! The food looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteBranson just looks like my kind of place. I will hope someday to go there. I really think I could have just stayed in the condo and enjoyed the view. We are like you guys; we love to visit places and go to our favorite eateries. These looked like a great places to eat at. I loved the pictures and the thoughts. Have fun working on your projects and taking care of the kitties.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs!
I love Branson and I love SDC. If I have to choose between a show and SDC, SDC wins! Our family went there on a rare vacation the first year it opened. I believe the road into SDC was gravel and the entrance was across the swinging bridge. We slept in the car because there were only a few motels. Then Jim and I honeymooned at SDC. We know all of the back roads and the heck with the crowds. Love the old Branson!

ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had so much fun in Branson! It brings back so many good
memories for me as we spent 6 months in Blue Eye and had comps for
all of the shows. My Sis lived there for many years too, so there were lots of visits too.
At that time our favourite place was Shorty Smalls and McFarlands (I think that was
the name). It was right down by the IMAX theatre where I would take our kids to the shows.
I'd sure like to check out that Billy Gails restaurant, it looked like my style all the way! Oh
heck, I'd like to revisit it all.
Glad you had so much fun-Kim
My husband and I have been to Branson only once, we didn't stay too long but did take in a show we saw Roy Clark. Your photos are wonderful and now I want to take a road trip there.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I love Branson and Silver Dollar City is a favorite with all my grands. We usually stay in a motel- where is this condo at? We are thinking about a Christmas visit.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post...I like that view, and the kitchen looks so nice. And I love the roosters in that one shot...
ReplyDeleteI can see why you like it there! I want to try all the food. :))
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you had such a lovely time!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to Branson, one of these days.. .though I'm not too keen on the heat.
Have a happy week, and hope you are able to get to the store to get your supplies.
