Good Fences And A Few Thoughts

I have a few more photos from Branson's Silver Dollar City
to share.  When I spied the first fence at SDC, I immediately thought of Theresa's Good Fences at The Run*A*Round Ranch Report.  See what blogging does to you?  You even think about blog posts while on a mini-vacay!

I've been getting a lot of Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
in my email.  It will say something like this:
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
(email address here)
    Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the
recipient domain ______.
What is not being delivered to the bloggers email is my comment, I suppose.  But I'm not trying to send my comment via email anyway!   Any ideas why this happens?

Have you ever changed your blog name?  I've been
pondering this idea for a while.  I have a sneaking
suspicion that there is an online game or something that
I probably don't want to associate my blog with from some
of the hits I see on my stats.  There might be 200 hits about
the same time of day.  I wouldn't hesitate to do it if I knew I wouldn't lose my followers.  Tell me what you think, please!

One last fence shot that was edited in PhotoScape using the Watercolor Pencil.  You just knew I'd still be playing around
with that, didn't you?  :)

Thanks so much for visiting this busy month!

Until next time...
xoxo  Cheryl

  1. i love these! they really do a marvelous job of augmenting their flowers with great fences. ;) thanks for linking in!

re: the email delivery failure notices you're getting, it is the blogger that has changed an email address and closed an old one that is still referenced in their blog dashboard to have comments sent to it. nothing you can do - they have to remove the now invalid email address from their blog so it stops bouncing that message to everyone who comments.

i can't advise you on changing a blog's name. hopefully someone who has done it can give you guidance!

  2. Hi Cheryl Tex seems to have answered your question. I don't know how to change a blog name but if you did I am sure every one would still follow you. Try writing to someone who has more than 1 blog, they may be able to help. Ilove how your fences have plants all around them so softening them.

  3. Great fence shot! Love the color of that fence, too.
I have never changed my blog name. Do you think the hits are coming from the Farmville game? If so that is pretty harmless. You might check with Laurie- I Loved A Cloudy Day. I know she changed her name and had to start all over from scratch. I don't know much about it- Good luck-xo Diana

  4. I love the last two fence pictures! I also like the little wheelbarrow with flowers, and the color of the fence. Sounds like TexWisGirl knows what she is taking about, so sorry!

  11. These are beautiful fences and flowers!
I can't say anything about changing your blog's name, but it is something I have thought about as well.

  12. What TexWis said. I am getting some too.
You can always start another blog with a different name and leave a link to the new one on your last post. Lots of people do that. That way you won't be lost.
I hardly ever get any spam...and yet others a plagued with it:(

  13. Lovely flowers and lovely fences. I started with my first and last name on the blog so I would never have to change it. Sometimes I think it would be fun to change it to a "code name" but nah...I'll just keep it. I don't know what to advise you.

  14. The problem you mention is pretty common just now. It may be a blogger or google issue. It only means that your comment is not showing up in the blogger's email IF that blogger has comments delivered to email. Currently, I am getting about 50% of mine. Of course, I can read the comments at the blog. (I have not changed my email addy. Eventually, it rights itself.)

I wouldn't change the name and most of us enjoy 200 extra visitors. = D

  15. Ok...I think you have convinced me that I do need to make a trip to Branson this year.....Beautiful fences and great colors.. I have experienced a lot of these issues as well.....

  16. I left blogger as Rural Rambles and am at Wordpress as Under the Oaks! You stayed with me and I am staying with you!!! But the decision to change your blog name is a decision for you to make.

  17. You found some lovely spots that's for sure. Great fun this was.

  19. Great photos from Branson. I certainly know why you enjoy going there.

I think (not sure though) that people sign up on blogger --using a certain email. They then may change their main email --but just leave that old one with Blogger... If you try to use that Blogger email--by sending an email to them, you may get that message... Tell them to change their Blogger email too!!!!

Several blog friends really confuse me by continually changing their names on Blogger. I have 5-6 Linda's ---and need to be able to tell them apart... One gal keeps changing her name (don't know why) --and it always confuses me... ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  20. I love your fences....I am looking for some so I can play with ya'll at the Run Around Ranch....:)
Not sure about the email problem...but, I think you can safely change the name of your blog...just not sure it will stop those suspicious hits. I'm not sure how to handle that.....

  21. Cheryl, love your fence and flowers pictures! I posted a fence picture just a little while ago too. I've been getting that weird email thing too. So strange! I am just ignoring them. I have changed my blog name in the past. If it messes up your follower list, you can always just leave a comment on their blogs with your new blog info and we can all re-follow.

  22. These pictures are fantastic and I just love the fences. You are getting very creative with the PhotoScape. I love your title now; but I would follow your blog no matter what. You are one of my favorites.
    Blessings to you!

  23. Beautiful images. I think it is fairly easy to change a blog name. I know I did it a few years back and all went well.

  24. I like your fence selection and especially the misshaped size and height of the milky green fence in the first photo.

  25. Beautiful fence and flowers, Cheryl! Love it. I'm so ready for flowers up here. So far it's only my reliable daffodils that are in bloom. We need some warm weather! I think the big problem, at least the one I have with getting undeliverable e-mail are those bloggers who do not have their email attached to their blog profile. They show up as 'no-reply bloggers,' so there's no way to reach them except to go to their blog and leave a comment. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow for conversation.

  26. Love that first fence! It is shouting "photograph!", don't you think?

I'm not sure what happens when you change your blog name, but I have had blogs that I follow via GFC that have done so, and those blogs still show up on my dashboard. But techie stuff is not my forté...

  27. I LOVE that wheelbarrow with impatients. Lovely pictures as always. I will follow you wherever you go as long as I have a link to get to the new website. I think I have too many emails in my list and it may be blocking people from sending more. Will have to check.

  28. Hello Cheryl, I love all your pretty fence scenes. The wheelbarrow with the flowers and the last shot of the wagon wheel are just beautiful. I will follow you what ever your blog name will be, but I am not sure if I would change it. Lovely photos! Have a happy Friday and weekend!

  29. if my opinion matters ... i love your blog so i will follow anywhere ... i love your views. change is fun & good. so change away. i get that blogger/comment message every once in a while. not lately though. hope it will clear up for you soon. i know it is a pain in the rump. you are one of the few who continue to follow me & make me feel super special with your comments & such (emails too). & i appreciate that big time. 30. Your blog is fantastic!! I always enjoy coming here. No matter what title you choose...AND I changed my blog title in Blogger from Hootin' Anni's to Hootin' Anni's Chronicles and never lost anything/followers. As long as you keep your original url, your title can be changed. At least that is what I did.

    Your fences are great images.

  31. Take a look at your spam function on the blogger dashboard. There may be some weird stuff there. Then check your e mail; it may have been compromised. In that case, you'll need to change your e mail password. Sometimes spammers get hold of e mail addresses and send their trash to everyone in the address book. That may be the source of those messages.

On a much nicer note, I loved your photos!!! Have a greatly blessed day, full of more wonderfulness than you can contain!

  32. I'd follow your new place. :) I like the post, the pictures are pretty. And I think of bloggers when I'm on vacation too, lol

  33. Your photos are wonderful. Such lovely garden scenes.
I don't know about the rejected email but I changed my email address in my profile and some comments still go to the old address. Not sure why.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I was getting a "ton" of those messages too and called my ISP about it. They said that I was being hacked by spammers and that I would need to reset my e-mail password. Once I did that the biggest majority of those messages stopped. I was getting over 100 or more a day and now it's down to about 1-5 at the most.

Love your wonderful and pretty fence shots. The one with the little wheelbarrow of flowers is so charming.

  35. I really like your blog name but it's your blog and you can do what you want to as the song goes. Just leave us a link so we will know how to find you.
I am partial to weathered fences also.

  36. I love that wheel barrel filled with flowers!

I have also been getting those returned e-mail messages, Cheryl. It's very disconcerting. I read the e-mail above and just changed my e-mail password to see if that makes a difference, but I don't know why my blog comments would be returned to me--I look at the message and it's what I wrote to the right person. I also heard it may be a google or blogger problem --hope they iron it out soon!

I often think I should change my blog name to something easier to remember, but then if I did not change my URL with a whole new blog I think I'd still have the same referrals from google searches. Plus I just don't have much time to sit and play around with it all these days--maybe in the future! :) I think if you leave a message on this blog about your new blog name and URL if you change it most of your regular people would follow you over! I

  38. I have considered changing my blog name...and actually on Time Stand Still, I added the A Photo Blog to it....but that did not change my URL...are you thinking of just changing the name or starting a new blog with a new URL. If just changing name, you could do it in steps...have the new name in the bigger, bolder type, and then in a little bit smaller type, say formerly known as The Farmer's Daughter.

If you go with new everything, be sure and let me know cause I don't want to lose track of your blog...even though I have times I don't blog at all, I always come back to it.

  39. Love that aqua blue fence and pretty flowers. I hope you figure out what's going on with the returned mail. I see you have a spam comment that has published....I got the same one today! Happy weekend my friend! Sweet hugs, Diane

I think you should change your name if you want to - just let everyone know, and I'm pretty sure you won't lose any followers! Do what your heart tells you to do!
