Random 5 Friday ♥ Happy Valentine's Day ♥ Giveaway

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Random 5

1.  We don't a lot for Valentine's Day at my house.  We'll be going out to dinner and not having to cook is more appreciated by me than getting flowers or candy.  As for what BG appreciates, see No. 2.

2.  BG came home with a box filled with an assortment of Girl Scout cookies.  A large box.  Seems he can't say no to those he works with that bring requests from their daughters who are in Girl Scouts.  He loves the cookies and will not gain a pound from eating them.  Lucky dog.

3.  I won't be making sugar cookies for Valentine's this year.  See No. 2 above.  It's not something I always do, but I was thinking about the blog and that maybe I'd make them and share my recipe.  I don't have to do that now.  Thanks, BG!  That might even be better than getting taken out to dinner.  (I'm not a big fan of making cookies you have to roll out and ice.)

4.  Daughter got a surprise bouquet of flowers at work yesterday for Valentine's.  Just made her day as she has been a little bummed out.  She called it off with her boyfriend a few weeks ago so they weren't from him, but the card said, "Guess Who?".  Don't you just love a mystery?

5.  I'll never forget that my son made the news in a Kansas City newspaper a few years ago on Valentine's Day.  Oh, in a good way!  He was snapped in a very long line at a local florist shop while he was waiting to buy flowers for his girlfriend.  He was unaware of the picture being taken and was quite surprised to see he made the news, too!

♥♥I'm pretending for the day that the birds in the photo are turtle doves, but actually they are mourning doves.  Hope you have a very Happy Friday and Valentine's Day!♥♥

The winner of my GYB drawing is TARYTERRE who was No. 2 on my list.  Congratulations!  Please email me your snail mail addy and I will get your win in the mail the first of next week.  My email is justablogger(at)yahoo(dot)com.  Thanks to all who participated!

  11. Well, first off I'm crying right now because I just saw the video about old barns and old people in the previous post. It reminds me of a very favorite old lady I know who just recently went to beautify the Lord's Heavenly house. So wonderful. I want to share that one with my mom.

Second, I love that your daughter got mystery flowers! Both of mine would love something like that. It's cute that your son was caught in the cupid act, too.

    Happy Valentines Day!

So, where does your dear man stash his cookies? Inquiring minds [and hungry bloggers] wanna know.

Enjoy your meal. I decided to go for lunch and then have lasagna, garlic toast and tossed salad at home. Glad I did...all the restaurants we frequent were booked solid!!

  37. My darling brought supper in this evening. Perfect. I hate going out in subfreezing temps and my boot sprung a leak. I did bake cookies today, but nothing that were so fancy that would have been a chore. My darling also told me that he had ordered Girl Scout cookies. It will probably be our last year given the recent changes in policy, but we shall enjoy them this year.
