From Dreary To Sunshine In 30 Minutes

~starling~

It's 10:30 am as I begin typing this post and I'm still trying to decide what I shall do today.

Our son came home for a visit yesterday and spent the night.  He's still here doing some work on his laptop before heading back to work in KC.  I did press a shirt for him this morning.  No one wanted breakfast earlier, so I just had a glass of orange juice and half a bagel.

It is a very dreary, cloudy day which means not a good day for snapping photos.  We had a little icing overnight, but the main highways seem to be fine.  I've checked the local weather and they are saying we'll have upper 50's and maybe even reach 60 degrees this week!  We still have snow on the ground in my area and it now has formed a hard crust on top where it has melted and frozen back over.  Surely the warmer temps will melt a lot of it away this week.

~snow sliding off our roof a couple of days ago~

Okay, back to planning my day.  First off, I'll bring my ramblings to a close and call it a blog post.  Then I think I'll tackle some paperwork, as in going through a huge accumulation of old receipts, etc. that need to be filed away in my new file cabinet.  I'm also looking for some insurance papers that have been misplaced.  Oh, and I need to find my new insurance card to take to the doctor later this week when I go for my 6 month blood work.

I think I'll also spend some time going through the old magazines and tearing out the articles, photos or pages that I want to keep.  This isn't a chore for me, it's actually fun so I don't know why I keep putting this off.

Do you put certain projects off like I do?  Tell me I'm not the only one!  I'm off to visit a few blogs now and then I'll get busy on one project or another.  And, guess what?  After a few little distractions, I'm ready to hit publish and the sun is trying to come out from behind the clouds, maybe it won't be such a dreary day after all!  Happy Monday to you!

Until next time...

  4. Cheryl, I laughed when I read ,"do you put off projects?" I am so far behind on some, I think I'm ahead. I seem to take longer and longer, the older I get. :):) Nice you had some time with your son. I wish my girls would come stay over night. We are going to have nasty weather today...I see where some schools are closing early...fearing bad road conditions. Let's hope we have some good weather this week. xoxo,Susie

  5. I live the little Birdie in your first pic. So cute.
There is snow on the ground and sunshine too. I guess it is better than no sun and a lot of snow.
I have been putting off projects too. My excuse is cold winter days.

  6. Cheryl, it is 50 degrees outside here in Tonganoxie as I type this... I am inside, trying to do the SAME THING you are doing.. going through piles of paper, tidying up... picking out magazines to keep and magazines to donate. The mud is awful here... we need the moisture, but couldn't we just skip over mud season???

  12. HAHA, Cheryl. I could have written this post myself this morning. I spent the morning going through drawers in our bedroom, purging and reorganizing! It feels good. I also went through some of my magazines and tore out things I wanted to save. While I love having computer images I really like my notebooks full of real pictures/ideas.

Hope you had a wonderful day so far and that your son gave you a big hug for ironing his shirt for him. xo Diana

  16. the sun came out for the first time in forever for us too. Went in to town and everyone is smiling and happy. My desk has been a disaster since moving day eight months ago, it has finally worked itself to the top of the list but I'm not quite ready to go there.

  23. Our temps were in the low 60's today, Cheryl! Almost all our snow is gone. It was very windy the past two nights, however.

I have to attack my magazine pile soon--it is getting out of control. lol! I do the same as you before I recycle them.

S: You were fortunate to have been able to ride draft horse when you were young. They are such beautiful horses!

  24. I hope you had a very happy sun shinning day.
Seriously, I have similar struggles with getting things completed that I need to do. I get so sidetracked. I call myself a "Sidetracked Home Executive". Maybe tomorrow; I say that often.
Blessings for you and hugs too!

  25. Do I put off projects? Cheryl, I am a charter member of PCA (Procrastinator's Club of America).

So glad you were able to enjoy a lovely sunny day today. The sun shone on our neck of the woods, too, and it was glorious!

  30. Hi Cheryl!

Spring cleaning must be in the air - yesterday, I completely went through the spare bedroom, cleaned the closet, and the chest of drawers, thoroughly vacuumed, washed down everything in sight, and filled the car with Goodwill stuff! Good luck with the receipts, that's not my favorite job, but I too, love going through old magazines!

We don't have any snow - temps in the 40's, which is so unusual for February in Idaho. We are suppose to get about an inch of snow overnight, so we'll see how that goes, the weather is usually wrong these days! Have a wonderful day, and safe driving for your son.

    Hugs,
    Barb

  35. Sure do put projects off and find they are much easier to get done on cloudy vs. sunny days.
