Beautiful Lights

As the sign on the door says, come on in!  Let's take a tour of one of my favorite spots to visit during the Christmas season.  We're at Silver Dollar City in Branson.  Many of you have seen my SDC posts and photos from past years, but for those of you who may not know about SDC, it is an 1880's theme park that is always beautifully decorated at Christmas with over 5 million lights.  You can read the history of Silver Dollar City here if you'd like to learn more about the park.  Okay, let's see some photos!

All of my SDC photos were taken with my little Canon Elph pocket cameraIt did a fair job, but I don't think any camera could fully capture the beauty of all the lights.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of SDC.  This is only a small sampling of the park which covers around 100 acres.  I did a lot of walking up and down the hills and, yes, I stopped to rest quite frequently!  We sipped on hot chocolate and sampled some of the goodies all around the park.

I had a video that I took of the 5-story special effects tree on the village square to share with you, but it wouldn't upload.  The tree changes colors frequently and the music plays to the special effects every 15 minutes or so.   It's enjoyed by kids, both young and old.

After being dazzled by the sights and sounds of Christmas, you might think that I hurried home from Branson and put my own tree up and have the house ready for the holidays.  Nope.  I'm still awaiting a bit of help getting all the totes carried upstairs.  It's been a little hard getting back into a routine after our little trip.  How about you?  The decorating all done at your house?

Until next time...

  6. Very pretty pictures of the night lights! Our decorating is done. Wreath on the door, snowman flag, my Mom's foot and a half ceramic tree lit up and a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree on the The Porch. That's all I am doing this year. Stormy still cracks me up when I see her little face in that tree.. :)

  15. Beautiful lights! I'll have to take your word that your camera didn't capture it the way you saw it, but it looks terrific to me. If I could get the lights on this tree figured out, I'd be farther down the decorating road. Hope that you soon get the help you need with lugging.

  24. Hi Cheryl! Like you, I love SDC. It has been quite a few years since I have been there at Christmas. Such a wonderful experience. My family went to SDC the first year it opened - when the roads leading in were still gravel. It was one of the few vacations we ever took and I immediately fell in love with the magic. Jim and I went there on our honeymoon and have been returning almost every year since. Thanks for reminding me that it is time to return again! Love your pictures.

  28. How gorgeous! They really do it right with the beautiful lights. We've been to Myrtle Beach at Christmas and they decorate with lights, too. We're not doing as much this year....but I do a little more every day! lol

  29. Wow, would love to see all those lights. I seem to put out less and less stuff for Christmas.

  30. Is all the decorating done at my house? Heavens NO! The tree is still all bagged sitting out back and soaking wet from the rains. Tomorrow I will try and get it washed and ready to come inside. We also cannot find the tree stand. :(
I remember we put it someplace we wouldn't forget. but...we forgot!

  31. They really had everything lit up beautifully! I was all carried away in my previous comment about decorating and forgot completely what I was here for. LOL Anyway..lovely lights. I was at Branson once and we had a great time there.
I thought you did great on the pictures..certainly better than I would have done!

  32. Enjoyed all the holiday lights in Branson, Cheryl, and the Elph did a good job considering its limitations. I have one as well and carry it everywhere as it is handy and small. No decorating for us this year as we will be separated and in 2 different states with family members who are having their own difficult situations...maybe next year will be different.

  33. I would love to visit at the holidays some year! Looks like a lot of fun! Maybe after both kids are settled on their own, and we end up with a year when no one is going to be home... Sounds like a good excuse to travel! :-)
