First up is a weather report. We're still waiting on a nice rain. We had just a sprinkle yesterday. The next few days are supposed to be quite a bit cooler and that is good news!
Now, before I get into my Am I Crazy, Or What? spiel, I'm going to borrow a word from Susan Branch (who loves cats, too) and give you some musica to listen to. I've always loved this song, but the only thing it has in common with this post is the title!
Hubby told me the other day that he must be getting soft in his old age, because he was going to let me keep 2 of the 5 kittens. He had been telling me that we didn't need anymore. He is right, of course. But, he also has become very attached to them, too.
The two pictured above, Callie and Patches, will be staying and we'll be taking the other 3 to a home in the country. Something has to be done soon because the little explorers are getting closer and closer to the busy highway. I'm not quite sure I'm up to the challenge of having these 2 in the house along with Stormy, Peanut and Sissy. But we can't take the chance of them ending up like our sweet Truman, who decided to dash across the highway and got run over. Am I crazy or what? Probably.
I'm also looking out for my feathered friends by moving the kittens inside. They have been tree climbing and have been giving this robin fits. I do believe they were trying to reach the bird's nest.
I do have mixed feelings about our expanding fur family. I hope they all can get along and I always wonder if my furniture and curtains will survive. Or, if I will. It is a lot of work keeping them all fed, watered, and keeping the litter boxes cleaned and the cat hair vacuumed up. Am I crazy, or what?
I was wanting to keep Callie all along, but hubby has always favored Patches, he even chose her name, so that he why he is wanting to keep them both. He is an old softie, because I see him grinning at the kittens antics and I know he loves them, too. Yep, just call us crazy and a couple of big ole softies!!
Note: There is a HUGE possibility that I might change my mind about all this!
Until next time...
Nope, it's not crazy to keep 'em if you love 'em. :) Congrats on the two new permanent family members. :D
ReplyDeleteyep, you are crazy, but you have a lot of company in that category... we both know many bloggers who have 5 or 6 cats and that many dogs or more... once an animal lover always an animal lover... i must say when we had 3 dogs at one time, all weighing in at 50 to 60 pounds it was tough, but we loved it.... these little ones are adorable... have fun.
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww...not crazy at all, just incredibly sweet! I'd have a houseful too if my husband would let me. He's not as much of a softie as your hubby, although he has come a long way! We have three cats, all strays. The diva is inside, the two males are outside. I'd love to hear how you make out introducing the others to the indoor cats. Right now I can't imagine our diva accepting any other cat in "her" house...but I always have that thought in the back of my mind...
ReplyDeleteit'll be good to have 2 young ones to entertain themselves, play together and generally wreak havoc upon your living quarters and all that is confined in them. :)
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't sound crazy if you do it. It would be totally crazy if I did. Enjoy them...they're so cute! Lovely photo of the robin!
ReplyDeleteoh those kittens are cute and they should be fun to watch inside with the others!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl The kitten are so cute, if you want them, you are not crazy, for me, they would be too much of a tie as I go away quite a bit and I feel they would be my responsibility and I would not put that on others. Enjoy them. Margaret
ReplyDeleteWe have not had any rain yet, either, other than a short sprinkle.
ReplyDeleteWe love kittens and cats, but it's so hard to keep one here with Lilly around... so we will have to put it off for another few years. We still have cat litter!
I'm so glad you get to keep two kitties! My husband and I are both old softies when it comes to cats. I have a lovely big hole scratched into the corner of my sofa, and the dining room curtains have fallen off the wall several times due to cats climbing up them.
ReplyDeleteNooooo, no mind changing allowed! One for you and one for your husband! But I will tell you, when we had three it is a LOT of work! And money, visits to the vet and more food and litter. Hopefully because they have come in as kittens, they will all get along. They are beautiful and Callie is my favorite. When we were looking for cats last year, I really wanted a calico, but it was not to be. Will you have them neutered? This will make them much calmer and less moody and not want to get out as much.
ReplyDeleteNo, not crazy at all. At least that's my humble opinion!!! I love cats. And they make great companions and NEED their own kind to keep them company.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're keeping them indoors tho, it's just heart breaking to know that some let them out at night and knowing that a lot of them become feral.
I think if they make you smile and bring you joy, you are crazy like a fox! hugs and blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteCongrats on adding two to your family... Glad they will be inside --where they can be safe. Hope the other 3 like their new home in the country.
ReplyDeleteI have another blog friend who has five inside cats and they do fine... You'll be fine --and NOT crazy... (Love that song, by the way!)
Hugs,
Betsy
You will definitely have a full house. I am very allergic to cats, but we do feed three feral cats outside. Enjoy your expanding household. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteGee, I was thinking you were going to keep all 5. So glad you found a good home for the other three. You will survive--honest.
ReplyDeleteLOL- Okay- at the end you said you MIGHT change your mind. I'm sure you meant you would keep ALL FIVE of them then?!?! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteYou are not crazy...I cry my eyes out when I see those commercials about abandoned dogs and cats!! Your little kittens are adorable, and lucky to have you as their owner... :0) I totally get not wanting them hit by a truck, I've had that happen too many times, and it's always so sad. Food - litter boxes - a good trade off for hours of fun and love!
I love Patsy Cline, one of my all time favorite singers - such a beautiful voice.
Hugs,
Barb
P.S. Don't you just the way husbands turn into teddy bears?
Kittens are a handful. You may be crazy, especially when you see the indoor cat's reaction to them all being inside. GOOD LUCK.
ReplyDeleteJust remember, in about a year you will be very glad to have them. Just gotta get through those kitten days.
ReplyDeleteI guess you are 'or what'--it is going to be hard to give up any of them. Kittens are just so much fun, and if you are blessed, at least one of them will stay young at heart. I always say our Bubbie is worth his weight in gold for his entertainment value...
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of those little furry ones are so cute. I could want to keep them too. Kittens are so much fun and they play so much. I also like the adult cats. They don't play as much and then like to cuddle more. I had a cat for 18 years but I am allergic to them so we don't have any now.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with those sweet ones.
Blessings!
They are cute, and they sure are work! If ya love them, ya love them...not much getting around that! I think they've already claimed you and the hubs.
ReplyDeleteI would love hose kittens too. Can't blame you or your hubby:0
ReplyDeleteNot crazy! I so understand.. :)
