Hoping For A Better Week...

It was just one of those weeks.  First of all, the kitties were into everything.  There's Stormy trying to tell me that she didn't knock the towel off on the floor...that Peanut did it.  Yes, she talks to me and understands what I tell her.  Too bad that Peanut hasn't learned what "no" means yet.

Peanut is also responsible for the throw rug in the kitchen being messed up.  Not Truman.  He's a pretty laid-back kinda guy and he doesn't bother much.  Peanut thinks anything that is not nailed down is there for her to play with.

See that poor plant above?  Peanut jumped up into the midst of photos and knickknacks to tackle the plant.  Which came tumbling down on the carpet below.  She loves to mess with my plants.

I'm glad the photo is a bit dark so you won't notice the dust.  On top of having so much fun picking up after Peanut, we had our water off for a good part of 2 days and were under a boil order for most of 4 days.  That was a good excuse for me not to clean house.

I have begun to think about gardening and planning some new flower beds, so I picked up a gardening book at a flea market that looked interesting.  Gladys Taber is a favorite author of mine.   I love how she tells about her life at Stillmeadow.  She loved nature, the country life, gardening and her pets.  She also loved to cook and often told how she made a particular dish.

Being under the weather. with battling BPPV for several days. and under a boil order both gave me a good excuse to just relax in the recliner and read.  Except I really didn't feel like reading too much at a time.

I'm still keeping an eye out for the birds, in particular the Red-Headed Woodpecker.  Here is another SOOC shot that I couldn't resist taking and showing.  Isn't he a pretty boy?  Looks like he got his feathers a little ruffled about something.  It was a bit windy.

The weather warmed up over the weekend and we had rain begin late Saturday night and into Sunday.  Our pond is as full as it can be with much water going out the spillway.  As you might expect, a lot of the snow is now gone.  I do hope that is the last of it, but there are still patches left and my dad always said that it was hanging around waiting for the next snow.  I hope not.  We're ready for Spring.

Happy Monday to you!

Until next time...

  2. What in the world happened that there was a boil order? Sounds so labor intensive. Guess that I'll really think to appreciate water. It certainly would bring life to crawl. Do your kitties go outside? Fiore doesn't and she gets a little skitzy in spring. Sounds as if your loves are a little skitzy, too.

  5. Ha,ha-- Minnie and Peanut are cut from the same cloth. At night I will hear something skittering across the floor and wonder what on earth I had left out that she is playing with and will eventually end up under the couch. Minnie is also convinced throw rugs look much better in balls. Gotta love them.

  7. Mayo Clinic site says you can receive effective treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo during a doctor's office visit. Did you?

Also I get a kick out of the first word BENIGN. Hehhhhhh... I guess I understand their meaning, in regard to this but..... The sensation must hardly feeeeeeel BENIGN. -sigh-

And a boil order. Ugh!!!!!! Plus the kitty-revolt. You certainly have had 'A WEEK.'

    Hugsssssssssssssssssssssssss...

  9. Oh Cheryl, that does sound like a trying week. Sending wishes that this week will be much better for you.
I am a fellow lover of Gladys Taber's books. I have several and find myself frequently pulling them from the bookshelves to read.
Your header is so pretty... like a breath of sweet spring air.

  13. He is a handsome woodpecker!
I can relate to the kitty messes! Foxy is starting to realize how high she can jump..lol! She is into everything and sometimes she gets all three of our pups playing a game of "Chase" in the house! It drives me nuts, but I love them all!:)
P.S. Hubby says he's going to teach Foxy to use the toilet because I can't stand a liter box in the house. :)

  15. Peanut sounds like our Dara who never outgrew her playfulness, unfortunately and still wrecks havoc with everything here.

  16. Look at that pretty little girl telling mom the truth!! My Abby used to try an kill the throw rugs but thankfully she grew out of that. I'll throw and old towel on the floor now and then and she'll go nuts on that.

Hope your feeling better soon, you've been under the weather for awhile. Take Care.

  17. Stormy looks so innocent(and cute) there with her little mouth just tattling away. Has she forgotten her trip up the middle of the Christmas tree? I hope you have a better week Cheryl, it is suppose to be good weather. I didn't hear about any boil orders on the news. I know that's no fun! Great picture of your Red-Headed, you must have focused right on his/her eye. Nice shot.

  18. Seems like most of us are ready for some spring now... My Crocus blooms are so pretty and our Daffodils are starting to bloom.

Vertigo problems are not fun. Bless your heart. Hope you feel better this week.

Is Truman a 'better' kitty because he is male or because he is older? Good Luck training Peanut and Stormy!!!! ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  19. The puffed out redhead is gorgeous!!! I have never seen a real one! Our cats chew on the peace lily, even though it burns their tongues. And unroll the toilet paper when we are gone or in bed, so we have to keep the bathroom door closed at those times. So sorry about the boiling, that is for the birds...pun intended!

  20. Your kitties are so cute -- even naughty Peanut :)

I love Gldys Taber! It is hard to find her books as I think she is getting more and more fans because of word of mouth.

Hope you feel better soon! Sprig is on the horizon!

  21. You had me here for a bit until I read a few comments....I have no idea what a BPPV is and I had no clue about the boil order....I do understand now!

  22. Cheryl, I hope your vertigo stops and you feel better.
Kitty should be aware that a lot of house plants at toxic and should not be played with.

  25. Kitties can be such brats! I hope you are feeling better, and I hope that your water is pure again. I don't feel much like reading when I'm down either. Sounds a little like spring fever to me.

  26. So sorry for your bad week. Everybody gets them but no one wants them!!!!!! I am sorry. I am so jealous of your red headed woodpecker. He is a beauty. We had them here but not in the last year. My, yours is beautiful!

  27. Oh what fun Peanuts had. I remember a few of our cats being just like that. We had one cat for 18 years. He was very mild and often hid if there was too much activity in the house. I miss him. Now we just have Sammy our dog and he has such a cute personality. Maybe I will blog about him someday.
Not having water for two days would be difficult. I guess I would just take the time to read a good book.
    Blessings!

  28. Of course all those kitties are completely innocent of everything! LOL
