An update

Hello friends, I apologize for my long absence.   After a long, lingering illness my father-in-law lost his battle to live.  He had a long and good life, and we are comforted to know that he is in a much better place now where there will be no more suffering or pain.

The family has been going practically non-stop for the past month with work, travel and staying at the hospital by his side.  We are all exhausted, to tell the truth.  But work has already started to get the house and farm ready to sell soon.   The children decided that since none of them want the farm and there are interested buyers already, to just go ahead and get it done.  So, we will be working all this weekend and the next and however many weekends it takes.  There is much to be sorted through and cleaned up.  Our own projects will have to be put off until after all this is done, but it can't be helped.

I have missed having the time to visit everyone and I want to thank each of you for your thoughts and prayers.  I hope to get back to at least reading and commenting soon, if my computer doesn't play out.

My ancient computer has been driving me crazy the few times I've been trying to surf around...it is so very slow and just crashes now and then.  I need to get a new one as soon as I have a bit of time to do a little research and shopping.  Any recommendations?  Laptop or desktop?

Have a wonderful weekend, dear friends, and enjoy the fall season.  We are having beautiful weather here, lately.   I just love autumn!

Until next time...

You have such a lot to do in the coming weeks,I know what it entails,we had to do the same when my father passed away 2yrs ago.
Take all the time you need,we will be happy to see you back in blog world when you are ready and able.

On the computer question,I have had two lap tops but I much prefer the desktop,it is more powerful and the screen is much bigger.I treated myself to a Mac,very reliable and I love it.
    Take care of yourself.Carolyn.

  3. Cheryl I am so happy to see you post. You have been missed! I am so sorry about your father-in-law. But as you say he is at peace and there is always some comfort when the person we love has passed on after living the good life they choose. You have lots to do, I will be thinking about you.

We have two Acer laptops. We love them. No problems with them and I love being able to sit outside or lay on the couch, like now and be able to read blogs! We have a desktop, it is hidden under a mountain of dust :)

Take care Cheryl! It is a beautiful Autumn and I think it is going to get better! Good to "see" you!!

  4. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know it is never easy, even when you know it is time. My prayers for all of you as you walk through these difficult times is that you will know and experience God's peace that passeth understanding.

  5. I am sorry for your family's loss, but I know that it is good to be on the "other side" on a number of levels. The exhaustion I can so well understand and I do hope that the chores that need to be done will be accomplished with a lot of fun and fellowship with siblings, etc. All the best with that and with the sale of the farm. God bless you all...

  6. I'm sorry to hear that you FIL passed away. It must be some comfort to know that he is with God and no longer in pain.

You have some very long, trying, days ahead of you. We went through the same thing a little over a year ago. We had two households to sort through (my parents' when the passed away within 9 months of each other, and hubby's parents' when his mom went into assisted living.) Sometimes I feel like we are still recovering from the work and many changes over the past year.

Hang in there and please take time for yourself.

As for the computer, I've become a laptop type person. I love the flexibility of being able to get online no matter where I am.

  7. I send you prayers and sympathy--
Though there's little that we can say or do, may the unspoken words of caring and the silent prayers that come from within our hearts give you strength and peace.

  8. I am so sorry about your losing your Father in law. I have been through this and I know how hard it is. As your family prepares for selling the farm; I am sure you are going to have some very sweet moments as you go through items that will have meaning to you. Blessing and hugs to you! LeAnn

As far as a computer goes. I love my laptop and I can hook it up to a larger screen anytime I want to just work in my office space.
    Just a thought!
