It's Friday!

These boots are made for walking.....

While we were waiting for our table at the Longhorn,
I amused myself by taking photos of the decor
by the entrance to
the restaurant.

Chaps, anyone?  I love
the western theme.

More than that, I love
the food there.

We had a gift certificate
from our son that he gave
us at Christmas.
He knows what we like,
thanks Brett!

The strawberry lemonade is
very good.  I've never tried
making it, have you?

Speaking of strawberries...
my chocolate-covered
strawberries are almost
gone from the batch made
for ♡ day.
I may have to make a few
more.  Aren't strawberries good for you?

I chose a delicious
ribeye steak with
mashed potatoes and
salad for my meal.  BG
got the same thing except he ordered french fries.
He loves his french fries!

Now I need to plan our meals for the weekend.

Our son is coming home for a visit and our daughter will be here to visit, too.
So I'm heading to the grocery store soon.  I did some house cleaning yesterday and still need to
finish dusting and a do a bit of laundry.

I haven't yet decided on what to fix for our meals this weekend.
I need some new ideas for it seems like I fix the same things
all the time.  What sounds good to you?

Happy Friday to you!
xo Cheryl

  1. Cheryl, You need to pop over to Estelle's Blog....she has a recipe for Chicken Lombardy...it looks so tasty. I am sure it's good, cause Betsy is always cooking up things her family loves. The Blog is named after her grandmother, Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. I want those boots with the blue on them!! They would even look good with a FORMAL, ha ha. Your steak looks awesome! I love fries, but would have to choose your mashed potatoes, they look awesome. Now I am hungry. How about making chicken and waffles, it is a southern classic.

  5. Ooh that steak made me hungry. I don't get to eat them often these days on count of my heart so when I do, I sin all the way with fries. In for a penny, in for a pound I say.

  7. Longhorn in Orlando was one of our favorite restaurants, but here it's lacking a lot and we haven't been back.
I say anything on the grill is yummy and fun. maybe some grilled fish and shrimp or grilled chicken and shrimp with veggies. :) have fun!!

  8. You sound awfully happy. Longhorn or the kid's visit? ;-D We go to one here in Michigan and I love it. Yet we have one in the suburbs near our city home and it is always crowded and I really dislike a floor or carpet with food on it. I guess they might be shorthanded but it's a turn off. Great steaks though and I'd order the mashed potatoes too, as I'm too lazy to make them much at home! lol!

    Happy weekend, my friend!

  9. Ribeye is my FAVORITE meal of all! Ha! Love that decor, too. When the kids are all coming, I love to put a brisket in the smoker and a bag of pinto beans in the crockpot. Whip up some coleslaw right before dinner time. They all love it and it gives me ease and time to visit! Have a wonderful weekend with family, Cheryl! blessing ~ tanna

  13. I love Longhorn too and your meal sounded so delicious. Maybe, I will talk my hubby into going there soon. I love chocolate covered strawberries too and we had some for Valentines Day.
Have a super neat time with our children when they come for a visit. They probably enjoy the food you fix; perhaps it's comfort food for them. Blessings and hugs!

  14. Hi Cheryl~

Well, we love western here in Idaho! I love the cowboy boots and chaps - reminds me of my closet! Nothing beats a rib eye steak and mashed potatoes, what a nice son! I've never made strawberry lemonade, but I love to drink it. That might just make it on my, want to make, list. I love chocolate covered strawberries, and yes they are good for you!

I hope you had a fun visit with your son, of course I'm late with my comment... :0) I always go with burgers when my kids are around, they love them and so do I!

    Have a wonderful week!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  15. Roger loves his French fries, too. My daughters make this chicken that is delicious and easy to make. They get this packet of basil/tomato seasoning...I think from Grill mates. But we all love it. I know this is late...but keep it in mind for next time. I have never made it but I for sure want to...we both love it.

  16. I love soups of all kinds, but Ron is definitely a meat and potatoes man. We compromise. It is certainly easy to get into a rut with cooking, isn't it? Chocolate-covered strawberries sounds like a great way to break out of a rut!! :)

  17. As usual, when I pull up your blog and it's been a while since I visited, I scroll down as the other posts always take my eye. The words LONG HORN did it this time. A couple of weeks ago, hubby and I ate there for the first time in forever. We had a gift card so we went after church that week. I got the Parmesan Encrusted Chicken with the Maple glazed Spaghetti Squash and Jim got a steak. It was the best food we had eaten in a long time! If you haven't tried what I had, you really need to try it! Have I told you this story before? It seems like I told someone or maybe I just mentioned it in my Hodgepodge the other week. Anyway, we won't wait so long to go back...not even sure why we hadn't gone there...I mean it has been at least 15 years or more! WHAT????
