Today...

Today is the day we vote for a new president of the United States of America.  I will be going to the polls with my hubby when he gets out off work in a couple of hours.  I hope that everyone will exercise their right to go vote today and may the best man for the job win!  :)

Our son was home for the weekend.  He helped his dad who is spending all his spare time working on the other house aka The Project.  They did take a little time off late one afternoon to walk around the Back 6 and take a drive to the lake.  The above photos were taken on those jaunts by Brett on his iPhone.

We are making progress at the other house.  Only a little more to go on one bedroom, a wee bit of wiring to do in the kitchen, and wire the spare room which may be the most difficult (I hope it goes smoother than BG thinks it will) and then all the wiring for the upstairs will be done.

Then our carpenter will come in and repair all the walls that BG had to put holes into in order to get the wiring where he wanted it to go.  He also will put down some trim boards, fix a closet door which doesn't open good, and a few other jobs such putting back together the closet in the bathroom, hanging doors, etc.  Then we will finish up the painting, get carpet down in the spare room, and clean the hardwood floors that have already been refinished in the rest of the rooms.

Our daughter fixed chicken fajitas and queso dip one night for supper.  Yum, good!  We were hungry after a day's work and didn't take time to bother with place mats or putting everything in a bowl.  ha!  I did grab some napkins after I snapped a photo.

So, that's my weekend wrap-up.  Today really seems like Monday to me as our daughter and BG both took a vacation day yesterday to work on the house.  BG was also home Friday, he's taking long weekends to get this job finally done.  Well, at least enough done that someone can move in!  The basement still needs to be wired, but that won't take nearly as long as the upstairs because the drywall was all taken out.  I may be repeating myself here, but there may be new readers.  I have a couple of new followers signed on.  Please let me know where you are so I can follow back!

Happy Tuesday!
xo Cheryl

  2. Nice to have a man who knows how to fix things, I bet. I never had that in three husbands! Could barely screw in a light bulb. My air conditioning is on and I'm sitting here in shorts while my paint dries. What on earth has happened to our weather???

  4. I know you will be so glad to have the house finished and be able to rent it out. That has been a long project for you--but I know you are doing it as you can/when you can, too.

Food looks good- I haven't cooked much lately with John's situation being what it is. I do have some meatballs and pasta cooking for tonight for myself. xo Diana

    1. If BG wasn't working, the house would have been done a long time ago. And the weather has been a factor too. He has so much to do in the attic and it's too hot in the summer, too cold in winter.

  5. Well--I don't know about you, but I will be SO glad when this election is over. This has been a rough one for all Americans... So much anger/hatred/bitterness/lying/dishonesty, etc. etc. etc. No matter who wins, our country is in a huge MESS... Not sure we will ever recover...

Your fajitas look GREAT.... We always get Fajitas for Two when we go to a Mexican Restaurant... YUM...

Glad you are making progress on the 'project'....

    Hugs,
    Betsy.

    1. I agree the country is indeed a mess and I don't know if we'll recover any time soon. So much corruption in high places, it's sad.

  8. Sounds like great progress is being made. Do you have an ETA? This is for your daughter, right? She is going to habe a quality home to enjoy that's for sure.

In agreement with you, Cheryl. Hope that voting went well. Forgot to mention that my ballot was a color in the circle type as if doing a standardized test. They offered both pens and pencils, except that I couldn't find a pen that worked. No way was I going to fill out a ballot with a pencil! That's nuts!

    1. We're hoping to get her moved in before Christmas, Vee. We thought that a year ago, but ran into too many wiring problems. Pencils? No way!

  9. Cheryl, Bless your hearts...working on the other house. It will be so nice and pretty. Hey, sometimes my daughter cooks lunch when we are coming over and we scoop out of things from the stove. It's less fuss for a busy girl. Wishing all of you well. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  10. First of all I love your photos on this one. The first two are so lovely and the third one it looks yummy. I love that you are getting your project done. Do post some photos of all the hard work when you are finished.
I personally will be happy when the election is over; but I don't think it will end all of the media hype.
Have a sweet week dear friend; hugs~

  11. Your son's pictures are beautiful!! Crazy weather but it has it's moments! I'm glad to hear progress on the house...I know how all of that goes.

Your fiesta looks amazing! Family time is so precious. I'm looking forward to the holidays in spite of the stress. Would't it be great to eliminate that word from our thinking?!!

    Have a great week.
