This and That

It's time for Operation Spring Spruce Up around here.  I am on a mission and have been looking at curtains, pillows and a few new houseplants to freshen things up a bit.  I have ordered some new drapes from Country Curtains, but I haven't decided on pillows just yet.  A wall gallery is still in the making.

Did you watch the Academy Awards last night?  I watched most of it.  The only movie I was familiar with was American Sniper.  BG and I went to see it when it first came out in the theaters.  We both thought it was a good movie and Bradley Cooper did an excellent job in the lead role.  I was disappointed, but not really surprised, that it didn't win more awards.

By the way, Betty White is a lucky old broad...lol!  Did you see her big lip lock with Bradley Cooper?  I think this was on the SNL anniversary show.  He is so handsome and if I were younger and single...just sayin'.  No, BG doesn't read my blog!

We were blown away by Lady Gaga singing a medley of songs from the Sound of Music.  Who knew?  I certainly didn't know she could sing like that!  This was the biggest surprise of the show.  If you didn't get to see her performance, click here and enjoy.

The kitties...with the exception of Lazy Bones aka Stormy...are playing hockey in the kitchen with some pony tail holders as I write this.  They like to steal them from my daughter's dresser and bring them to the kitchen where they can bat them around.  Then they will shove them under the refrigerator.  I know this after finding about 20 of them when we moved the refrigerator to clean behind it.  I have read on Susan Branch's blog that her cats love to play with them, too.  Do your pets have a favorite hiding place for their toys?

I hope those of you in the ice and heavy snow areas are staying safe and warm.   Take heart...this month will soon be over and spring is coming!

Happy Tuesday to you!
xo Cheryl

  2. Bradley Cooper is indeed easy on the eyes. Betty seemed to enjoy the moment thoroughly. I have heard Lady Gaga sing with Tony Bennett so I knew she could sing, But her performance of The Sound Of Music was exceptional, for sure. My kitties hide things in their food dish or under the sofa. But they are all about having fun too. Stay warm.

  3. Oh, I'm with you on Bradley Cooper. And, I thought American Sniper was so well done. No surprise here that it didn't win more at the Oscars.

I love all those bright springy pillows! I'm ready! blessings ~ tanna

  4. Your first picture with the colorful pillows sure captured my attention this morning! I am craving color (especially GREEN) and I am thinking ahead to spring too. The restful simplicity of winter-gray-and-white has its place, but I think that I am getting to the end of that place. :)

Our silly cat doesn't hide her toys. Her favorite "toy" is a plastic grocery bag. If she spies an empty bag before it is corralled, she can have quite a fight with it! Or gift wrap. Oh dear...we sometimes have to lock her out of a serious gift wrapping session.

  5. love that "kitty stretch' and will try to add that to my exercise regime.. LOL if i were choosing from those pillows i would go for the one with the red sunflower. i love that one.. i don't watch the awards because i have not been to a movie in 15 years.. don't know any of the movies or the stars. i do know Betty white though and saw the kiss on the news. i looked at all the dresses on a web site..

  9. I know that Fioré is missing her toys when she starts staring under a piece of furniture. At least, I hope that's what it means!

Lady Gaga did a masterful job of singing those classics. I only wish that she had not covered her beautiful self with all that ink. Did not watch the show, but had to check out the video yesterday after hearing bits on other shows. Yup. Who knew?! I am not a fan of her usual repertoire.

As for Betty White...there is something mildly disturbing about what you describe. LOL!

Have fun with your spring spruce-ups. =D

  10. I am still in clean up mode, who knows when spruce up will happen! When we had cats they loved boxes, bags and rolled up balls of aluminum foil...such entertainment! If you gave those things to a dog he would still be looking at you...but a cat well they are so different:)

  11. Let me at those pillows, they are all beautiful and it would be hard to choose! We did not watch the Oscars because we did not see any of the movies. This means we are officially OLD! I did want to see Gaga though and I will return this evening with a cup of tea to watch your link!! Such beautiful white fur! Our cats bat bottle caps and such under the T.V.

  12. Lady Gaga totally and pleasantly surprised me. Who knew she was more than a meat dress? Too bad there were few surprises this year. All the award shows leading up to the big one, take all the guessing out of who will win.
Under the couch is where cat toys go.

  13. oh, did you buy any pillows? i love those colors. so cheerful. i was totally loving the Betty White & Bradley Cooper lip lock moment. i wonder if Betty has had any love in her life in a long long time. lucky her. i miss all those shows because i am always watching Downton Abbey. i wish they didn't put them on all at the same time. it stinks. i have to always play catch up another day. oh well ... i guess you can not be every where. have a great week. stay warm. 14. Nifty little "this 'n that"! The pillows are so springy,so pretty. No, I didn't watch the Oscars. I'm a Downton Abbey fan but don't watch much tv in general. But I saw the Lady Gaga video on You Tube and was moved to tears when Julie Andrews appeared. A wonderful moment. Classy all the way.

  17. I missed seeing Lady Gaga, but I have seen a lot about how well she did. I need to catch up and watch this portion. Hey....a kitty has to do what a kitty has to do and in your case, it's play with pony tail bands. cute cute..
    Stay warm.....lots of snow everywhere.

  18. The comments about your kitties gives me fodder for a blog post! Now if I can only keep it in mind!

  19. We didn't watch the Academy Awards... Hollywood people (for the most part) just drive me crazy... We want to see American Sniper --and hope we can soon... I am not surprised that it didn't win.. A conservative film cannot win in a liberal group... Oh Well.. Too bad that politics rule so many things...

I've heard that Lady Gaga really did well... Amazing ---since I never liked her... Wish I could have heard her since I love that music.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  20. Oh yeah... My Abby loves the plastic hair scrunchies. The little thief will steal them whenever she can and do the same thing until they end up under the stove along with various mice and other toys.

  21. We didn't watch the Oscars last week, but I did watch the show's opening and the Sound of Music tribute by Lady Gaga. I agree that her performance was amazing, but then so is the standards CD she and Tony Bennett released last year. Cats can be amused with the simplest things, aluminum foil balls worked for me.
