The Color Of Spring

~water pencil in Photoscape~

The flowering redbuds and lilacs will soon
be just a memory until next year.
It's hard to say goodbye to such beauty and they
have been exceptionally beautiful this spring.

We are fortunate to have several lilacs and redbuds
in our yard.  Some of our redbuds were planted
by Mother Nature.  The redbud growing in the row of lilacs is
a volunteer as is the larger redbud in the background
in the photo above.

We dug most of our redbuds down by the creek when
they were very small.  The lilacs were planted from
shoots we dug from around the base of the main
plant.  One of our lilacs was given to us by a friend and
a couple of them were brought here years ago
from our former home.

I adore the pastel colors of spring such as the pinks, lavenders,
yellows and greens.  It's hard to choose a favorite spring color.
I love them all.  Do you have a favorite?

Until next time...
xoxo  Cheryl

  4. i have always wondered why they are called "redbuds" ... they aren't red? makes me think every time. i love the artistics license you took on the 1st shot ... neat-o!! (my art teacher use to say that to me all the time as a kid or student, brings me back) i love spring for the same reason ... the blooms, the trees, i wish they would last a bit longer but ... i love the forsythia, it really looks like it is a bright sun or on fire. byiee!! 11. Have I already complained to you that we can't grow red bud here? I love that shrub and saw it for the first time on our first trip to Gettysburg. It is stunning - and a zone or two higher than ours in NW Wisconsin.

  13. The colors of Spring have been splendid this year....I love to drive down into the fields where my husband grows thousands of red-buds. The field is like a plush field of pink/lavender. God paints the most beautiful canvas and we are Blessed to walk in the middle of it....

  19. So pretty at your place! It won't be easy saying goodbye for another year, maybe sooner if spring shows up on time in 2015.

I like the pinks in spring, too. Of course, the forsythias add a wallop of cheer once they bloom. I imagine that they are spent in your corner.

Love the treatment on that first photo!

  21. Spring showers us with its abundance of color, then we have to settle for the milder versions of summer.
Very clever adaptation with that first photo. Suitable for framing.

  27. I love the pictures of the Lilac bushes. You have such love scenery to look at each day. My husband took pictures of our Lilac Bush today. We have been talking about putting more in our yard. They bring back some tender memories of being with my grandmother in her yard. She had a few Lilac bushes and I just love the smell and they are so beautiful.
    Blessings and hugs!
