Stormy and Sissy are sharing a favorite spot where they love to look outside. Never mind that they could see the outside better if they went downstairs and looked out the large window there. They like to be on the same floor as the rest of the family. I wondered what they were looking at so intently.
There are any number of things to see in the back yard and the Back 6. You might see a squirrel, or rabbit, occasionally deer and more.
More often than not, they are caught up in bird watching. Just like their Mom, who loves to bird watch, too.
I went to another window to see what had caught their attention. The maple tree outside the window was full of Starlings. They have about polished off all the bird seed I have out including the suet. Well, except for the Finch seed that they can't get to. Pesky birds. They can devour a suet cake in one day. How do you keep them away? If any of my bird loving friends out there know a way, please share.
Have a wonderful day.
Until next time...
Let the cats out -- that will keep them away. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, sweet kitty`s, always enjoy looking outside........I have trouble with the Sparrows eating everything, oh well, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteDo your kitties ever "chortle" at the birds? I'm not sure what that sound is called, but it's as if they're' chattering at the birds. My mom used to say they were "charming" them... It's a cute sound. Sundae was just doing it a few minutes ago at a bird outside HER window.
ReplyDeleteMakes for a fun Sunday afternoon. This is cute....and I bet those birds might have been taunting these precious babies...just a tad.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a great week.
i thought they were enjoying a spot of sun, now i see they were focused on this adorable fluffy bird
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew. But, no help here. LOVE the two of them sitting side by side enjoying the views out the window!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteHa, Minnie enjoys the same cat TV. I like the Starlings in that stage of plumage but am glad I got my soffit holes plugged up. They are messy nest builders.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest the same thing as Nancy Claeys....let the cats out....they are sure to fly away once they see them. The doves love to sit in our oak trees, but once I let my dogs out, they high tail it outta here!
ReplyDeleteLove the kitties, peeking out between the lace curtains. Purrrrfect photo op!
ReplyDeletecheryl, you have a gorgeous back yard, that would be my spot if i lived there.
ReplyDeletethose starlings are pigs, but when the sun catches them just right, they are beaytiful!!
Stormy and Sissy! So cute together.. :) I am going to whisper this and then knock on wood. We don't have any starlings this year. Yet. So I am no help. Hopefully they will move on. Cheryl your pond looks like it has recovered. I want more rain!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute...my mom's cats used to chatter at the birds...their teeth sort of clacked away or something...funny. I have no tips for you...hope that you find some answers before you're eaten out of house and home.
ReplyDeletewe don't get many starlings here. i see them in town, but here in the country, they seem to stay clear. we get plenty of red-winged blackbirds, though, and the grackles come thru too.
ReplyDeletei like your clothes lines!
My Simon does the same thing; loves to sit and look outside. I have always thought he was dreaming about all the adventures he could have outside but we do have lots of birds outside so I am sure he is thinking about them as well......Fun imaging what's going on in their minds, Uh?
ReplyDeleteHi There, We are back from a week in beautiful Arkansas. Hope you had a great week.
ReplyDeleteYour kitties are so cute... They were really enjoying watching something outside... Amazing how animals are just as sociable as we are. They want to be where the humans are!!!!
Luckily, we don't have starlings here. Hope we never have any.
Hugs,
Betsy
Starlings can be so pesky! Love the pic with your kitties looking out the window!
ReplyDeleteHouse kitties probably wouldn't know what to do with a bird or mouse if they caught one, but their instincts are telling them different.
ReplyDeleteSeveral times a day I go out onto the deck and yell "Starlings!" just to see them go flying out of the henyards like crazy! I have to replenish feed at least once, because of them.
ReplyDeleteLetting the cats out wouldn't be too nice. :) I'm not sure about your problem. I just let all animals eat in our yard except for the hawks!
ReplyDeleteYour kitties look so sweet peeking out the window together. Our pets always want to be close to us as well. :)
S ans S look so sweet sitting side by side as they stare out the window at those dang Starlings.
ReplyDeleteI have the same trouble with Grackles. There's just no stopping them or the pushy Doves from devouring everything in sight.
Keep warm and be happy ~:)
Sweet kitties! I know they are pesky, but that is a really nice shot ;) Lovely photos.. all of them. And it is raining over here in Monroe County right now.. and hard! :) -Tammy
ReplyDeleteAwe, look at the kitties. We used to have trouble with cowbirds back in Illinois. I would yell out the windows and doors at them, I even would go out and chase them away...I'm sure I amused the neighbors if they were watching me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful back 6! Those kitties are so darling! Bird watching is such a kitty thing to do!
ReplyDeleteVery fun pictures! Our dog loves to look out the window. We have geese and ducks that are mostly across the street from our house; but once in a while they come over here. I often wonder what he is thinking.
ReplyDeleteThose kitties of yours are adorable.
Regretfully I am allergic to cats. Many years ago we had a catery; it was so fun.
Blessings and hugs to you and those cats. Regretfully I am allergic to cats. Many years ago we had a catery; it was so fun.
Starlings are awful mean for sure. As a child I had to be inoculated because of some disease the ones near us were carrying. So I'm leary of them to this day.
ReplyDeleteThat's cute that they're looking out of the window together.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the birds, but good luck. :)
Oh, oh, oh!!! It's a baby starling, all puffed up from the cold!! How delightful!!! Yes, a flock can swoop in here and eat everything up!
ReplyDeleteGive those kitties a rub right down to their tails for me!
ReplyDeleteAwe those cats are soooooooooo sweet.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the cats and they do look like interested in something.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photos
