We got another 12 inches of the white stuff!
This snow was very wet and heavy and caused much havoc with trees and power lines. We were without electricity in our home for over 7 hours yesterday. My hubby, who is a rural elec. lineman, was called to work around 6 am yesterday and didn't get home until the wee hours this morning. He didn't get to sleep long and it was time to go back to work. They have many broken poles to replace and quite a few folks are still without power.
Another shot out my kitchen window overlooking the back acres.
The bird feeders weren't as busy today as they were in the last snow.
I had to have something to do instead of fretting over the lack of electricity, so I got out my purchases I made the other day at the craft store and got to work. The scissors, glue and magazines were already here. I bought the sketch books and decorative papers. When you start a project, do you ever get sidetracked? So do I. Which means that I didn't get as far along yesterday on this particular project as I would have liked. Hopefully soon, I'll be able to show you what I'm working on. What fun projects have you been working on this winter?
Until next time...
*Hate* these heavy snows, which take down power lines. -sighhhhhh-
ReplyDeleteAnd this project is???? I'm not crafty so I don't pick up easily, on the parts of a project.
i am sitting here trying to think of anything i could without power, reading and housework is the only thing i have that doesn't require electric and/or internet... so what did you make? do we get to see it? i maybe by some crayons and color book for just in case....
ReplyDeleteYou all have really been hit hard with the snow. Hope you were able to keep warm during the power outage.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
I am really sorry to hear about your power outages and your husband's lack of sleep! We ended up with 3" where we live. I crocheted all day yesterday. A lovely way to pass the day inside (of course, I could have cleaned, but I hated to waste a snow day:). I love the picture of your craft supplies. I love doing things like that too! I can't wait to see what you're working on! I get sidetracked too, and usually have several projects going at a time. Have a nice day! Twyla
ReplyDeleteHaving worked for the power co. in Florida, I totally appreciate what miseries the linemen have to go through so our light switches work. Hats off to your hubby.
ReplyDeleteYou have really had some beautiful snows.
Oh your poor hubby and all those who work for the PC. No fun to be out in the cold and weather doing those big tasks. It is pretty. How'd you stay warm yesterday?
ReplyDeleteWe had heard all the way up here that the snow was supposed to hit hard in Missouri, I see that it did. I'm curious to see what you are working on.
ReplyDeleteAck, I hope you don't lose your power again! The storms you guys have had are amazing! I'm always distracted by something else when I'm trying to work on something. I'm terrible that way!
ReplyDeleteMore snow last night, but only flurries.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm curious about what you're doing. :)
I'm thankful for the job the linemen do. How difficult it must be, but so necessary.
bless your husband for the work that he does and the incredible effort he and those he works with make to keep the rest of us comfortable and safe.
ReplyDeleteYou got hit a lot harder than we did. We got about 7 inches. Wet and heavy.
ReplyDeleteFortunately I did not lose power.
I'm very curious about your project.
Thought about your Hubby yesterday. We were without electricity too but not long. Flickered off and on all day and then finally just went. No intersweb either. CH has dug out of the garage three times cause huge hunks of snow keep falling off the roof and blocking the doors. Our trees and bushes took a beating. CH said we got about 7 inches on top of the 6 we had before which was mainly ice. Hope your hubby gets to rest soon. Our electricity went off about a half hour ago and just came back on. No projects for me, I just wish I would get up the motivation to get a blog post up.. :)
ReplyDeleteBack again...
ReplyDeleteSo you (also) are getting those "Error" messages, when trying to leave Comments. -sigh- It must still be a problem. -pout-
Guys like your husband are awesome for the work they do. We did have 4500 customers out, but are down to 1100 now. We've got other coops helping us.
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
THANK YOU for visiting "Beauty That Moves" blog. And for saying that "Auntie" sent you. Hugs......
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it, but I get sidetracked many times. I'm still not settled completely in my new home. Now it is time to look towards gardening.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views outside of your window.. I'd be sitting there staring outside all day long. GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteBUT--I do worry about people like your sweet husband at times like this... So sorry about the power outages.
Have fun with your craft project.
Hugs,
Betsy
Can't wait to see what you are crafting. I am searching for something different that I want to craft.... Just haven't found it yet.
ReplyDeleteSo far, all that snow has missed us... hoping your electric comes on soon
Oh my gosh, you are buried! Does your husband have special outerwear so that he doesn't freeze doing his job? I love Southern Living!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow. Glad your electricity is back on.
ReplyDeleteI always appreciate the workers who restore electric power. It's a hard job, and underappreciated by many.
Son lives close to prairie home and they are still without power. We were out 7 hours. And another round coming Tuesday? Wow.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your project. I'd never get sidetracked! Yea right. Will be posting about remodeled scrap booking nook soon!
My projects are like yours, even after many winters. I tell myself if I was ever snowed in I'd finally do them but...
ReplyDeleteWOW!! That's some snow. Hope your husband is through the worst of his work with it.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your project, Cheryl! blessings ~ tanna
I grow weary.. (sigh...). Wonder if we'll ever be without snow coming down? haha? :) We need 50 degrees (at least), which is the norm for this time of year and sunshine to melt this stuff down! Unfortunately, looks like we will get neither of those for a few days. Thank God for people like your hubs who keep us all with power. We had lots of flickers yesterday.. and that was about it.. so far.I cannot wait to see what your project is! Stay safe and warm! -Tammy
ReplyDeletePoor hubby!!! Poor people without power!!! Poor you ALL with all that snow!!! Good for you that you have something to keep you busy! I love doing crafty things...used to do them all the time before I went back to work. I never have time now...not with blogging too. Can't wait to see what you are going to do!
ReplyDeletewow, that is a wild storm. feel for you all. stay safe & warm. ( :
ReplyDeletePlease say thank you to your husband, from all of us who have been without power at one time or another. We appreciate the long hours he works to help us.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what your project is.
what beautiful photos...i know people appreciate the work your hubby and his comrades do...we were without power for almost a week during the summer storm and i knew they were all working so hard to get it restored...hope he is able to catch up on some rest this weekend....can't wait to see what you are working on!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing that cold desolate snow scene my thoughts on wanting to paint in the snow almost settled it. However, after seeing the barn below oh yes, one day I'll get a chance. No snow down here in Houston, not even a drizzle lol. Nice shot of the barn Cheryl love the color coming through in the shade!!

Love your winter photos. We don't ever get winter like this where I live. Today was around 76 degrees!
ReplyDeleteHmmm....I wonder what you are making...I did finish another quilt while I was not blogging...you can see it at my Pics & Pieces blog.
