California Dreaming...

I'm not going to California any time soon.  Just trying to think of songs that make me think sunshine!  But wait...doesn't that song go something like "all the leaves are brown and the skies are gray"?  Okay, scratch that.  Let's see...oh, I know just the perfect song!  John Denver sang this song and it went something like this "sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy".  There, that is better.  I've always loved that song.

No, I haven't completely lost it sitting here in the middle of a Missouri snow storm.  I'm just trying to amuse myself and lift my spirits with some happy, warmer weather tunes.  I'm really just trying to blot out the images of bitter cold, blowing snow everywhere.  Travel will be hazardous and I get worried about my loved ones who have to travel a good distance to their jobs.

our weather map the last hour

We've been looking at all the cancellations on TV and the internet and it looks like most all of the schools in our area will be closed tomorrow.   I went to Columbia today and stopped in at the resale shop to browse a bit and picked up a couple of books and a few magazines that I hadn't seen.  Then bought groceries to last for several days.  I had just gotten home when it started to snow.  I timed that outing perfectly!

The snow is supposed to end around mid-day tomorrow and we could end up with 7-9 inches, they say.  I'll be out shoveling a little path to throw some cracked corn on for the birds and checking the bird feeders.  And saying prayers that everyone will get to their destinations safely.  I hope you are staying warm and cozy wherever you are!

Until next time...

  4. Oh geez...and I thought we had it bad...We have had a lot of fog, drizzle and somewhat cool weather. I was complaining about needing to see a little sunshine, but I suppose we don't have it bad after all....
Stay Warm and enjoy the snow....
    Blessings for a Wonderful Day!

  5. Cheryl, CH measured a little over 4 inches here, but it looks like more than that to me. "Sunshine on my shoulders", I'd like some of that and I love that song too. Anything that John Denver sings. Stay warm, stay safe, stay in!

  6. They have closed schools in my little community today. We have so many country roads for the school buses to try and get down. We are stayin "IN", being lazy, drinking hot chocolate and enjoying the day.

  7. Oh Cheryl, You are having a pretty big snow (in comparison to OUR snows)... They say we could get up to about 3 inches tonight --but they keep changing the forecast. Don't think they know. I hope we don't since our poor school kids here have already missed between 10-12 days of school. Don't know how they will make up all up.

Glad you got groceries and some good reading material... I will keep all of your loved ones in my thoughts and prayers.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  8. Hello all...just want to update on the snowfall. We stuck a yardstick in the snow and it measured 7 inches or so. It looks like more in some places. The news in nearby Columbia say they had 9 inches. The good news is that it has stopped and the sun even shone briefly, but the bad news is that more is coming in a day or two!

  9. We definitely got the 9 inches. Hopefully all is well in your little piece of Missouri.

  10. We are in for a dusting to just a couple of inches, so for me, it's hi ho, hi ho, and off to work I go. Tomorrow, that is. Sounds like a good time for you to pull a blanket over your lap and read a good book, though!

  11. Hi Cheryl!

I'm so sorry you are having so much stormy weather! Let's see . . . sunshine songs . . . "You are my Sunshine", "Here Comes the Sun", "Seasons in the Sun", "Sunny", "We'll Sing in the Sunshine", "You are the Sunshine of my Life"! I'm trying to cheer you up!

Please be safe and stay warm! Spring is just around the corner . . . :0) Take vitamin D3!

    Warm Sunny Hugs,

  14. Yes, we've been watching the forecast for weather out your way. For us, this has been an unusual winter. Freezing cold temps with lots of snow...then mild, melting temps above average. Tonight I am glad there is no snow because our son does the snow removal for the church parking lot and I have to drive 20 miles to get there in the morning. Love, and have a great Sunday.
