Catching Up

It's been a while since my last post and although I strive to be upbeat, I also believe in keeping it real.  So I'll begin with saying the past few weeks haven't exactly been my finest, healthwise.  I've struggled with vertigo, a bad cough which is still lingering and various other ailments.

I even had to go to the Emergency Room this past Saturday night.  You know how it is, something always seems to happen over the weekend or at night when there aren't any doctors available.

I think I'm on the upswing now even though some things still need to improve.  At least there were a few good days here and there the past few weeks and we took advantage of them and went to Branson.

Silver Dollar City at Branson is a must-see for me during the Christmas season which begins the first weekend in November.  They had added 1.5 million lights to the already 4 million this year and it was just fabulous.  I love Christmas lights and I was like a kid again gazing in awe at everything.

There were several archways covered in lights like the photo above.

As I wasn't feeling the best, I didn't try to walk down the hills toward the back of the park as in years past, but I think I saw most of the new lights as they seemed to be mainly in the mid-park section.   Do you see the suspended tree in the photo above?

I can't begin to describe the beauty of SDC decked out for Christmas and if you ever go, be sure to stay after dark as it is indeed a sight to behold!

Our condo already had a tree up and decorated.  The weather was nice during the time we were there and just chilly enough at night to have a fire going in the fireplace.

One morning the fog was still hanging over the lake and it made a pretty sight.  I love fog if I don't have to drive in it!

Here's a photo taken from inside of the fog on the lake.  I think this was the morning we were leaving to go back home.  You can see by the shadows on the deck that the sun was breaking through the fog.

I love Branson but it's always good to get home and back with our sweet fur-kids.  Stormy missed us and she has been keeping close to me when she knows I don't feel good.

My Christmas trees are still in the boxes just waiting to be opened and put together and decorated and I'm behind on shopping too.  It will get done even if a bit late this year.  Our daughter wants to have Christmas dinner at her house this year.  We'll have our gift exchange on Christmas eve here.

Hopefully I'll get back to visiting and posting more regular soon.  I do hope all of you are staying well and having fun getting ready for the holidays.

Happy Tuesday to you!
xo Cheryl

  3. Glad that things are on the upswing. Glad also that, somehow in the midst of the troubles, you folks made a break for Branson. That beautiful spot feeds your spirits. Yay for plans coming together. My tree still sits here with only lights on it. Perhaps that is all that can happen this year...my energy has been pretty low by day’s end. At least, this is my last day of cleaning at the ranch and only a little bit of it left.

Merry on, pace yourself, spend contented time with that feline friend who sits with you when you’re not feeling so great. Saying a prayer for better days just ahead. Sending love...

So glad you got to enjoy SDC. I know it makes your season.

  5. I am so sorry you have been sick, and also still have that awful vertigo! Have you tried Dramamine? I'm sure you've tried everything. Hopefully, it will all be gone by Christmas. How wonderful to spend it at your daughter's place! Christmas shopping must be hard for you this year! Maybe gift cards? Branson is Gorgeous, your pictures turned out wonderful!!! I think the tunnel and the hanging tree are my favorites...well, they are ALL my favorites.

  7. So sorry you have been sick, Cheryl, thoughts and prayers for continued healing. i haven't been blogging to much lately either , just busy with farm business, our ewes are beginning to lamb, and getting the decorations completed.I tell myself every day, I am going to post something, but by evening I am so exalted I don't,.
Your photos are so pretty, I too love Christmas lighting, Branson is still on my bucket list, seeing your room looks so inviting. I bet the getaway was just what the doctor ordered for you!

I think it is so nice your daughter wants to host Christmas Day dinner. We will be going to my Moms for Christmas eve, and I will make dinner here on Christmas Day, for now looks like a slim crowd at our home, just hubby and me.
    But that could change.~wink~
    Have a blessed day.
    Hugs from me to you.

  10. Hi Cheryl~

I'm so sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well...I hope that changes really soon...You will be in my prayers, sweet friend.

I loved your photos of, Branson, so gorgeous!! That blue tunnel is amazing, that would have given me vertigo! I love lights as well, they bring back good memories of being a kid and going out on Christmas Eve to look at the lights. I used to do that with my kids too. We would go get a milkshake and drive around looking at all the lights in the city, it was so fun.

Isn't it funny how cats especially, know when you don't feel good? My big old dog always knows too, and will sit on my feet, or just lay by me wherever I happen to be, it's very comforting.

My tree is still waiting to be put up as well. I will try to get it up tomorrow, along with the other few things I put out. But, really, when I was growing up we never put up the tree until a week or so before Christmas, things happen so early these days, don't they?!

Get well quickly, but take it easy too, it's no fun to be sick on Christmas day.

    Gentle Hugs and Love,
    Barb

P.S. Good to see you back!

  11. Oh my dear friend, I am so sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. Praying that you will be feeling much better soon. Vertigo is the worst and can cause other struggles for sure.
Your trip to Branson looked fun. I can't imagine seeing so many lights. Temple Square here in Salt Lake has lots of lights too but I don't think that many. The photos are beautiful and the hanging tree must have been a sight to see.
I loved the fog photo. I too love fog but not to drive in it.
It is interesting how animals sinse when things aren't quite right. Your Stormy is such.a beauty.
Hope you can get deocrating and shopping soon. Your plans soound fun.
Seinding happy thoughts your way and hugs too!

  13. Hi, So glad you got to Branson for a few days. I'm sure that was a 'cure-all' for all of your problems. Beautiful pictures from Branson. One of these days we will get there...

After George's daughter's husband's recent death, she is spending Christmas with us... I think we are taking her to Gatlinburg. I think she'll enjoy that --even through her grief.

Get yourself WELL.... It's no fun to be sick at Christmas.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  15. So sorry you've felt so bad and had to visit the hospital. Stormy sure is precious; cats have a way of comforting us when we need it. Your condo sure is pretty and the views are wonderful. Please take care and feel better soon. Decorating/putting up trees is hard work. Don't over-do.

  16. I'm sorry you have been having health problems. With the usual colds and flu going around, its hard when you have something chronic to deal with on top of it. I sometimes wonder if I just got more exercise--well, I know that would help me 75%, not wonder! I need to drop weight for my back to get better. Feel well soon, I'm sending love and prayers.

You really have me wanting to visit Branson. We have talked about it. Your photos are beautiful! Glad you had a break.

I didn't know your kitty was named Stormy. The dog we had when I was a child was Stormy. He was a collie, very sweet and lovable.

Take care, my friend. Take your time shopping, it all gets done somehow!

  17. Sorry I am just now commenting...I read this days ago but we have had a busy weekend...we had an early Christmas with the TN kids this weekend and things are finally settled down here. I'm glad to hear you are better. Your trip to Branson sounded like so much fun and those lights are absolutely AMAZING...and I thought Gatlinburg was something! We want to get there one day. Are you ready for Christmas? After this weekend, I must admit I am looking forward to enjoying the days leading up to our actual laid back Christmas Day! Have a great week!

  18. Branson was on my list for Christmas this year, but unfortunately my pocketbook did not agree with my plans. Thanks so much for letting us tag along and see the prettty lights. Where do you all stay? I think I asked you this before, but I have slept since then and forgotten. Sorry about your health issues- I hope you feel better soon!
