Monday Musings

Did you have a nice weekend?  It was a busy one here, especially for BG.  He worked on the wiring at The Project (our rental house) and ran into more problems.

I've tried so hard to get him to hire the work done, but he is one stubborn man and refuses to pay for work that he can do himself.  Never mind it might take him a dozen years long time, he is bound and determined to do it All.By.Himself.  If you detect a bit of frustration from my end here, you might be right.  :)  I do appreciate his dedication and hard work even if it doesn't always sound like I do!

Well, the good news, or bad depending on how you look at it, is that he is having to take out part of the walls and our carpenter/friend said take out all you need to because he could repair them and BG agreed to that!

The wiring as I've said before is a big mess.  It would take too many paragraphs for me to explain so just take my word for it!

Meanwhile, I just wanna say wake me up when it's all done!  Much like the election.  Can't wait until it is over.  I can't watch TV because the media drives me nuts with their blatant bias and lies that are told.  When presented with the truth, they won't report that, of course.  Okay, enough with the whiny stuff.

It is a beautiful fall day and I'm leaving in a few minutes to get some groceries and just enjoy a drive down a few country roads.  I love to be out and about in autumn soaking up the warmth of the season and seeing the changes in the fall foliage.  Soon enough the leaves will be gone, but shhhh...we won't talk about that yet!

I made some chili over the weekend and it was so good.  I found 2 cans of chili beans, 1 can of tomatoes and 1 can of tomato sauce and I had some hamburger in the freezer.  Just enough for one pot, but I'm going to stock up as we love chili when it turns a bit cooler.  We have had some warm days, but the nights are much cooler now.  Do you make chili often in the fall and winter?  With beans or without?  What is your favorite soup?

Halloween is a week away.  I have another "spooky" happening to share.  Maybe.  We're still puzzled about this one, so I'm trying to figure out how to write it up and then I'll see if I want to post it by Halloween.  Ha!  Don't you just hate when people do that?  Leave you hanging, I mean.

Hope you are having a wonderful day!

xo Cheryl

  1. Renovations can be a nightmare... that's for sure!
Seems that it's two steps forwards and three steps back.
    Hang in there.

  2. I love to leave people hanging but don't love to be left hanging... those punkins are so pretty.. and yes, Chili is what I had in crock pot all day yesterday. Friday evening the weather person said it will be 58 on Sunday and 66 on Monday and when I went to shop on Saturday I bought the stuff, much like what you used. we will eat on it all week... I love that cause all I have to do is heat it up. the first thing we eat when the weather cools down is chili or veggie/beef soup. I have a man JUST LIKE YOURS..oh yes. I do understand...

  3. Now I cannot wait for your spooky story!!! I love all these colorful plastic pumpkins! But I think my favorite is your gorgeous first picture. Plus the beautiful swan. Electricity is one thing Phil does not like messing with. It may be due to the fact that he once got scissors too near to an outlet and it popped and smoked.

  6. Yes! I hate it when I am left hanging like that! lol I am so sick of all this election crap, too. I am going to vote tomorrow if I can and not have to stand in line while people try to sway your vote at the last minute. So many lies in the media and I am just sick of it all.

I am glad to see a post from you. I have the opposite here- a man that is NOT handy--can't do anything...lol Well, he's a good talker-which I guess makes him a good preacher---when he had a church that was good-now he just preaches at me. HA. Anyway-he and my oldest son are hopelessly helpless when it comes to fixing anything. The youngest son can do anything....and I have learned to do a lot on my own out of necessity.

Hang in there- this too (the wiring) shall pass. xo Diana

  7. I am going to look forward to your post of spooky happenings. I do hope our sweet hubby can figure out the electrical repairs and do them quicker. I can just imagine how frustrating this must me. I remember when we gutted our home in Spokane and it was a forever project. We did hav to hire out for a lot of the work. Of course, I don't think my husband is quite that good at handyman things.
The fall is such a lovely time of year and I wish we could take more drives up in the canyons. It's been stormy here recently but the temperatures haven't dropped yet.
I'm like you I am so sick of politics. I think that our country is in big trouble. If we don't turn back to God; I think we are going to suffer some consequences. It's all so sad. I love this great country of ours.
Well dear friend, keep on posting! Im so glad your back and I loved all the photos today. I found the different colored pumpkins quite interesting.
    Blessings and hugs~

  8. Ok, you have me hooked. Can't wait to hear all about spooky.
At least your guy knows how to do the work--rather than my ex who only thought he knew how. Someday it will all be finished.

  11. Your photos are just wonderful! So much beauty around you to give you a welcome respite from the busy-ness! I agree wholeheartedly about the election. Time to get it over with. I don't watch much tv, and media bias in so many areas is only one reason. It's crazy out there on the air waves! Give me a PBS Masterpiece Theater and a re-run or two of "The Andy Griffith Show," and I am a happy woman!

  12. We are about to embark to a pretty big project at our house too...new wood floors! This 30 year will soon be OUTA HERE! I am enjoying the fall but wish the weather would stay cool...it will be in the 60's one day and back up in the 80's the next...crazy! I so agree with you about the TV these days...I agree with Mary Ann (above). It can't be over soon enough!

  14. Catching up.... Caught up on 3 blogs of yours this morning.... I love seeing your Branson pictures --and know how much you love it there. It does look a lot like the Gatlinburg area.

I agree about the election... Too many lies/ too much horrible media reporting/ too much dishonesty, etc. etc. etc. If HC wins, I'll probably NEVER EVER watch any news EVER again.... Cannot stand to listen to her and her lying... AND--I just hate hearing her voice and laugh....

We love Chili... WITH beans is my favorite --but I'll eat most any kind of chili. The last batch we made had Kielbasa in it as well as hamburger... YUM.

Love your Fall colors --but I SO agree about all of the heat (we are still quite warm here for the end of October) ruining the Fall Colors around here. We did find some beautiful color in the Smokies (where they are up higher and not as hot).... We also are still EXTREMELY dry (hasn't rained much at all since JUNE) here ---so that is very disheartening to George and me. NOT a fun Fall here in TN.

Have a great day --and week ahead... Can't believe it's almost NOVEMBER.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  15. I am so fed up with the election....so sick of them all. So afraid of what will happen in the election, too.

I don't know what my favorite soup is...probably my hamburger/vegetable soup, but I love potato soup, and I love chili (but chili doesn't always like me), and then I have a broccoli soup that I LOVE....it is different to any other I have ever tasted except at the hospital Roger was at in Indianapolis..

I like chili with beans...that is what makes it good. My question is, do you put any pasta in yours? I didn't used to like it in it and Roger grew up with that...now I like it and he don't so much, plus doesn't need it because he is diabetic. So I don't put any at all in, and even when I used to add spaghetti or elbow macaroni, I did not add much.
