For The Birds...

"Do you like my feathers flat or..."

"do they look better spiked?"
~Cardinal

"I have a large repertoire of music, but I just don't feel
like singing right now."
~Mockingbird

"Put that camera down and get me a seed cake."
~Red-bellied Woodpecker

"Make sure you get my best side in the picture."
~Eastern bluebird

"I caught him!"

It looks like the bluebird caught an insect just about the time
I accidentally caught him in flight.  He was sitting on the
pole and I was trying for a shot when he suddenly took off.

There are many beautiful bird photos around blogdom lately.
I hope you enjoyed seeing a few of the many birds that I
have in my backyard.

Enjoy the rest of the week and don't forget to take time to
smell the roses or watch a bird or two!

xo Cheryl

  4. Your pictures are amazing. Do you keep your camera on a tripod at all times or are you as steady as a rock? I like spikey best.

    2. Thanks, Vee. I don't use a tripod. I do have one which I should dust off and use! I'm definitely not steady, I just take lots of photos and hope one turns out fairly well.

  7. Sometimes accidental things are the best! Including your bluebird in flight. LOVING this one, it is my favorite of all the pictures. A huge flash of blue, and he is away. Your pictures are all excellent though. I wonder about the cardinal's head tuft. Do you think it is like cats ears, flattens it when scared or mad?

  10. Beautiful photos, Cheryl1 My favorite is that bluebird in flight. We have our kingbirds back again this year; they nest in the rafters of the front porch. They've already successfully raised four babies, and mama is on the nest again for her second brood. Happy bird-watching! They're all such lovely critters.

  19. Amazing photos, Cheryl!

My granddaughter has been afraid of flies lately and I told her that they are food for the birds and need to buzz around to that reason. I'll have to show her the last photo of the bluebird with the fly in his mouth!

  20. Cheryl, these are spectacular shots of these beautiful backyard birds! We have just tons of them feeding...when they can get through the squirrels! I love the captions you have added. Wouldn't you just love to know what they are saying? They may be saying exactly what you did!

  25. So nice to see these wonderful bird shots, especially the cardinal which is the VA state bird and one that I photographed many times when we were living there. My other favorite photo subject was the bluejay.
