Of Flowers...

It isn't spring without the sweet scent of lilacs wafting through the house.  I think the scent may be my favorite of all the flowers.  Honeysuckle is another one I love.  Which flower has your favorite scent?

I have been on the road quite a bit this past week to go traipsing through greenhouses looking for flowers to fill my pots.  Oh, the scents, the colors...I just wanted to buy several of everything I saw!

This photo is from my last (I hope) shopping trip for flowers.  It takes quite a few to fill all the pots on the front porch and back patio.  As long as I can still get them planted and watered, we will have flowers!

I didn't mean to be away so long from blogland.  But I love to get out and about and just enjoy the beauty of spring and the weather has been absolutely gorgeous.  It has been warm enough to open windows. Until now.  It has rained...which we really needed...and turned cooler again.  The weekend sounds like it will be very nice.

Happy Friday to you!

  5. We have no lilacs in this part of North Carolina. My sister-in-law brought a bush back from a trip to Michigan some years ago, and it did well. Love the flower photos. I finished my planting the other day, mostly marigolds and herbs.

  7. Oh, lilacs are my favourite. We once lived where there was a whole long hedge of them.
I'm so jealous that you can put your flowers out already and it is hard to just pick a few! You have a beautiful array of colour there, Cheryl.

  10. Cheryl, So glad you are enjoying your lovely spring. You will be busy planting flowers. They will be wonderful too. I have lilacs on the bush that I got the starts for , from my mom's lilacs when she was with us. I think she is smiling looking at them. The people that bought her old house tore all those beautiful lilacs out. Sad. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  11. Bet your yard and home are going to look gorgeous with all of the beautiful flowers you have purchased to plant. Except for Pansies, we plant perennials --hoping they will come back year after year.

I love lilacs (love the aroma also) --but that is one plant we do not have here. NO MORE ROOM for more things in our yard... ha ha

    Happy Gardening.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  14. Going to buy and then plant flowers in pots brings back memories of the years I did that in VA. It was fun and the resulting blooms were well worth the reauired effort. Now, we don't have to be concerned with outdoor gardening, although when we return to the VA house in June, I will do some gardening cleanup.

  15. I love the scent of Lilacs which remind me of my growing up years. We had long rows of Lilacs around the yard. I am waiting for the right time to get flowers as well, but it may have to wait a few weeks yet.
