Food, Fun and Furbabies...

I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day.  I sure did and I even got a Tour of Italy.  Well, that's what it was called on the menu!

My sweet daughter took me to the Olive Garden for dinner.  BG, who isn't all that fond of OG elected to stay at home and babysit the kittens...more on that in a minute.  We really love their salad and bread sticks and the whole meal was delicious.  Thank you, Kim!

My daughter also got me a beautiful card and red rose.  It was a fun day and the weather cooperated until we were back in the car and ready to head for home.  The rain began and just poured.

I received 2 cards in the mail from my son.  The funny one said "If I had an extra $1000, you'd get more from me than just a Mother's Day card."  On the inside it said "You'd get a postcard from Hawaii."  lol!  He added at the bottom that he just couldn't resist buying that one.  He actually is in Hawaii this week for work, flying there a couple of days ahead of time to do a little sightseeing.  I'm trying hard not to be jealous.

The kittens I mentioned are the two little rug rats on the right.  lol!  I don't know whether to laugh or cry.  It's really sad because their mother abandoned them on our property and it was beginning to storm, they were soaking wet and starving, so we did what anyone who loves furbabies would do.  Brought them inside.  They are only around 2 weeks old or so.  We've looked for their mama but haven't found her.  I hope something didn't happen to her.  Anyway, to make a long story short, we I have gotten a new job.  One that I really didn't need, but the little ones didn't ask to be abandoned either and they deserve a chance at life.  So, I will be doing everything I can to give them that chance.  I did call the humane society in the Big Town, but as I'm not in that county I was put on a waiting list for a foster family to become available.  They told me they are bottle feeding over 70 kittens now, so I don't expect an opening anytime soon.

I hope you, too, are enjoying this beautiful (and busy) month of May.  BG and I are headed today to the Big Town where he has his routine checkup with his heart doctor.  Our daughter will watch the furbabies and work on a grant for her center until we return.  I am behind on visiting, but I'll be by to catch up as soon as I can!

Happy Tuesday to you!
xo Cheryl

  1. Those little kitties sure look sweet. I am glad you and your daughter had a wonderful time at Olive Garden on Mother's Day. We were going there too but there was a two hour wait so we did something else. Your son's card sounded perfect. I wish your husband well at the doctor's. Take care.

  3. Aww- bless you Cheryl for taking this on. I know it's not easy as I've been there years ago. I do hope they thrive under your care. We ended up keeping one of the three little waifs and she lived to be 19 years old. That was our Cali. Glad you had a nice Mother's Day. Keep us posted. Hugs, Deb

  6. Sounds like a wonderful Mother's Day! Good luck with the kittens. I have never done that except for a friend for just a couple of days and it was just one. I think we are finished with kittens here; all spayed at last check.

  10. Looks like you had a wonderful Mother's day!
Any day when we don't have to cook, or wash the dishes after dinner, is a "mother's day" ***smile**.

Sweet kittens. Glad you are able to help them.
Best of luck to your hubby, on his check up.

  11. Trusting for great news from the heart dr. I like your sons choice of cards.!! Cute... Especially since he is in Hawaii. Ooo... I love Olive Garden but like your BG, my Sam does not care for it. Girl, if I lived closer, we would hit OG as often as we could. Hope your day is a great one!

  12. Oh, Cheryl, you are just the best fur-baby-mommy ever!! God bless you for caring for these little creatures!

We are in the same boat...Ron is not really a fan of Olive Garden, but the girls and I love it. (Makes me think we should take advantage of their lunch special soon...) I am sure that you enjoyed an evening out with your girl. Your son's card is too funny! :)

  15. Hi Cheryl~

Yum, I love Olive Garden, your tour of Italy, looks delish! And, I loved seeing your picture, you are so beautiful!

The Mother's Day card was funny - especially since he is in Hawaii! My son always buys me the funny cards too - my girls are a little more mushy... :0)

How could a person not take in little abandoned kittens. I have fed and taken care of so many little ones, that I can't even count. These two are precious, and will make great pets for someone, someday. You and your family are wonderful to take care of them and love them.

Hope everything goes wonderful at Hubby's
    Dr. appointment!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  17. I love the OG and my husband isn't a big fan either. I love your Rose and Son's can be so cute. I marvel at what they come up with on cards or even face book posts. Kind of scary sometimes, I think.
The Kittens are so cute. I think it it's sad that they were abandoned. I don't know why people do that if that is what happened. When they are running around it makes it harder to give them away.
Hope the Dr. Appoint goes good. I need to sit down and actually schedule a few Doctor appointments for us. I keep putting it off. Blessings and hugs!

  18. Awww, you are wonderful to take care of these babies! SO tiny! We love olive Garden! It is good there is not one close, or we would be broke and I would weigh a thousand pounds. I especially love their salad, breadsticks, and soup bar! But I have had the tour Of Italy, delicious! Let us know how his checkup went!
