Random 5 Friday

1.  The birds have been keeping us busy filling the feeders lately.  It's been so cold and they are very hungry.  It's not been very good weather for picture taking from my kitchen window.  The birds and I are both hoping for some sunshine and better weather soon.

2.   My burning question for the day.  Why can't the media be as relentless in their questioning and probing for answers for both political parties?  That's all I'll say about that.

3.  Our outside foundation work being done will be finished today.  I can't tell you how happy our kitties will be to have the noisy backhoe and bobcat gone.  Stormy has been the biggest wuss of all and hides all day.  Callie is the only one who isn't afraid of anything.  I think she would face down a grizzly bear.

4.  I can't believe how fast time is going.  Christmas has been over now for a little more than 2 weeks.  I still have a few things to put away.  The house looks so boring after all the lights and things are packed away.

5.  We're supposed to have temperatures in the 40's today and maybe 50's by Sunday.  Strange after the bone chilling weather we've been having, but I'll take it.  Surely the sun will shine, it seems like a long time since we've seen it.

I need to hurry this post up.  They are going to be unhooking my phone line any minute to finish up in front where they are working so that means no internet and it may be awhile before I can visit my blog friends.  Have a great weekend!

Linking up with A Rural Journal for Random 5 Friday.

Until next time...

  1. Hi There, You know my answer to your Number Two: Double Standard in this country for sure--when it comes to our media... Taint fair!!!

It's warming up here also --and finally, all of the ice and snow is gone. That was one humdinger of a storm!!

Glad your foundation work will be completed soon.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  2. you are working on a time line aren't you? wow, that is wild. hope it will be finished very soon.

i was promising myself not to decorate for Valentine's Day until the 14th of January. that is soon enough. i get what you mean but i enjoy the no mess. it seems so much bigger. i always joke it is wild to see the Christmas tree (which i have one that is thin & tall.) but it feels like when it is gone i have ten times the room. but not really??! 5. You did manage to take a good shot. The color of the bird is beautiful and it came out nice against the gray of the weather.

  7. you are probably off the air by now... that is truly a beautiful red bird, so brilliant and fat and fluffy from the cold...

  8. Such a beauty you captured there! We are warming up, too, but it will be foggy and raining. Great.

What great joy in the camp to have a quiet day at home!

  9. I can relate to how happy you will be to get the work outside completed. We had to live through two septic fields being redone and it was a pain.
Funny, but we are having 40 degrees here today and we were suppose to be having snow; which we need.
I just finished taking down our decorations and it does make things seem a little bear. I always miss the holidays and especially the music.
Hope you have an awesome weekend too.
    Blessings to you!

  10. We are having the warm weather, too. Warm compared to Monday and Tuesday, especially.

    Your cardinal photo is beautiful!

I am with you on the media thing...not that the current one isn't bad if it is true...but hey, what about the 4 dead Americans in Benghazi? Their families are still waiting on answers. Not to mention the IRS thing, and You can keep your health care, period!

I best not even start on that one...

  11. Oh- I hear you about the one sided political thing and that is all I am going to say about that, too.

I am glad they are almost finished the work there, too. I hope that you don't lose internet for long! xo Diana

  13. What a beautiful shot! I'm not a fan of the "after Christmas take down". Lights do look pretty in the snowy days of winter. OK, enough with the snowy days of winter...and we are just getting started! YIKES! Have a great weekend! Aloha

  21. Hip hip hoo ray on them finishing up the foundation work! Saturday and Sunday are going to be tropical... :) We have a cardinal with no tail that has been flying against our dining room window since last Spring. His girlie just sits and watches him. He is about to drive me insane!

  24. I hope they finished quickly..the constant noise would be so annoying, but I know the finished product will be so worth it. Have a wonderful weekend..I'm hoping for warmer temps and no dreary rain.

  25. I love your pretty Cardinal. The birds do appreciate the seed we give them in the winter. I have a problem with all the politicians. It is nice that they are calling for temps in the 50's, YAHOO! Have a happy weekend!

  27. Cheryl, I am with you on your random #2. The news media is so biased. I watch FOX a lot and that puts things more on an even keel.

  28. It's warming up here too. I love the frosty picture in the last post and will be looking forward to hearing about the new kitty.

  30. Very warm here today... I think it got into the high 40s. I hear it is going to get cold again next week. I am so ready for winter to be over.

  31. Hi Cheryl!

I love Cardinals, I so wish we had them in my neck of the woods!

Glad to hear that your foundation work is almost done! Your little cats will be most delighted!

I finally put the rest of my Christmas stuff away today - I'm always late! It does feel strange though, I love the lights...

I think we are having a January thaw as well, but it won't last long - and we so desperately need the moisture, no matter what form it comes in!

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  32. I know for one thing, I'm very happy to have the clouds break and the dreary dark days in the past now. The sun is warm and we're back to the normal range again.

Love the photo of the cardinal!!!
