He's Back and A New Idea

Look who is back at my house!  Little Sox came back home yesterday because it was discovered that a member of his new family was violently allergic to cats!  I felt really sorry for their young son who had already fallen in love with Sox and cried when he had to give him up, but we assured him that Sox would have a good home again.  Small comfort that, I know.  I have to confess to having teared up a bit myself when we told him goodbye.  As hard as goodbyes are, we're hoping to find another forever home for him because we already have enough kitties.

~We've had a few sunny days here and there!~

I can't tell you how many projects are started but not finished in and outside my house.  But, I just happened upon another sort of project that I want to tackle and it will be a bit easier than the others that are on the waiting list.  And this is one I want to start on right now!

We have a flat screen tv downstairs in the family room, actually it is really the man-cave, and in the living room we have an oldie but goodie tv in an oak entertainment center.  I don't watch tv much, but when my son comes home to visit, the men gather around the tv in the living room instead of downstairs if there is a ballgame on or to watch a movie.  Reason?  It is closer to the cook, of course!  My son, who has a huge flat screen tv, hates our little oldie but goodie and loves to remind us that we need a bigger tv upstairs.  I never really thought much about it until I saw a photo of a wall arrangement at bj's and asked myself why didn't I ever think of this?  Sometimes, the simplest solutions seem to escape me.

In the photo I saw, there is a nice flat screen tv with a table under it and flanked by a bookcase on each side!  Bingo!  I have always wanted and needed more bookcases!  I'd have room for books, photos, and maybe baskets for storage for the DVDs.  To be honest, I'm more excited about the idea of getting bookcases than I am about a new tv!   I might have to move a couple pieces of furniture downstairs, but I could make it work.  Now here comes the hardest part...to sell this plan to BG, who is probably just a wee bit tired of hearing about my ideas.  What do you think?  Should I make cookies first before asking??

Until next time...

  1. Make cookies AND take him to lunch! Sounds like a perfect solution to the TV situation and YOU get book cases! Are you as cold as we are in your bit of MissouREE. I might and I said MIGHT be getting a teeny bit sick of our MissouREE winter. I think we will head to Florida-dee.. :) Too bad about Sox and his little boy. I know you will find him a good home! Brrrrr Cheryl!

  2. cookies...reminding them that the sports games would be a lot better viewing, etc. etc. etc. The wiles of us women, y'know, will do the trick every time!!!

Sorry to hear of the boy's allergies...tell them that if they want a cat that the breed, Siamese, are usually good cats 'cause they have no dander and don't shed either. At least that is what I was told. Never had any problems with our son who also was supposedly allergic to cat dander.

  12. Yes, and his favorite meal and anything else you feel like tossing in there. Hope that it can be accomplished. It sounds like a plan!

Oh what a sad story about the little guy who fell in love with the kitten who made him ill. Blessed you! Hope that you can find a home for him before he gets any cuter. Does your vet allow you to put up a little poster?

  13. Homemade cookies have never hurt a cause, have they? And in my experience, it's usually pretty easy to convince a man that he needs a new TV. Now the bookshelves? Hmmmm...go ahead and bake those cookies!

  17. We do watch alot of TV --at nights mostly. Love all of the dramas!!!! Anyhow--we have a bigscreen TV --and the larger size made SO much difference. That new set-up with bookcases sounds great. I say--go for it!!!!

I'll bet you keep Sox... What's one more kitty in your home anyhow??? Right!!!! He's such a cutie. BUT--if you don't, I'm sure you'll find him a good home.. Too bad that the others didn't work out.

Cold here this morning. Was MINUS 2 about 6 a.m. Yipes!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  19. Hum, maybe you and Sox were meant to be. Don't fight fate.
I'd definitely go with cookies and a favorite meal also. Just be sure to do it before Super Bowl and maybe use that event to entice.
