Barn Charm

This photo was taken on our way to Branson the first weekend of May in which we saw our first snow in May...ever!   I thought the barn looked fairly new, but the cupola certainly doesn't!

I almost sat out this week's Barn Charm.  The news coming from Oklahoma just breaks my heart.  So much devastation.

We had storms here in my area that produced a lot of rain and a little bit of hail.  We were under a tornado watch for quite a while and under a severe thunderstorm warning for about a half hour.  It rained so hard that the yard in back looked like a lake at one point.  My newly planted garden looks sad.  The end where I planted my flower seed had what looked like a river flowing over it, so I imagine all the seed has been washed away.  But, I won't complain, it could have been so much worse.  I hope you are all okay, too.

To see many other barns, go to Barn Charm

Until next time...

  1. Yes, I am watching the devastation on T.V.now and then seeing this pretty barn. Wonder if their cupola had to be replaced and they got this old one? It is in the best condition for a barn...

  7. Oklahoma was the first thing I thought of when I got up this morning. My heart goes out to all of the families. So sad.

Pretty barn for a sad barn charm day. I'm glad all is ok in your neck of the woods. Some nasty storms rolled through last night.

  8. Mother Nature has been so unkind recently, so many severe storms!! It's so very difficult to watch the news!!

I hope you gardens recover, all that work you put in to them already, it would be such a shame to loose all your plants!

Great barn, perhaps new siding on an old barn!!

  13. Love the barn. We have been glued to the news because our daughter and her family are in Tulsa and her husband has family near Oklahoma City. My heart goes out to these people.
    Love,

  14. We are under a severe storm warning right now... Yipes! Prayers for all in that storm's path --and for those who lost so much in Oklahoma.

Great barn. Maybe they saved the cupola from an old barn... Love it.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  19. I'm glad that the storms have gone and hope that they don't return. Such a weird and volatile spring. I like that the old was cobbled onto the new...looks great.

  20. Pretty red barn Cheryl!
We had a big Oak in the backyard go down around 7pm with some big old straight line winds Monday night. Missed the house by 50ft. CH is going to try to get it cleaned up today. Not even worth a mention considering the suffering and devastation in Oklahoma City. Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Moore, Oklahoma.

  21. That is one cool looking barn. You're right, it looks newer, but could have simply been resided. It seems an older shape to me. On the other hand, someone may have just re-purposed an old cupola (which is cool). Neat shot.

My barn(s) for this week can be seen here....

I just noticed your cat pictures on the side bar and for the first time noticed that one of them is named Peanut. We had a Peanut (everyone always asked me 'why Peanut'? lol). He was mostly white and tiger striped. We lost him a couple of years ago at age 15. Miss him a lot.

As for the tornadoes, I could not live in a place where they are a constant. Hearty people who can. We have the occasional funnel cloud, and the even more occasional tornado, but both are a fairly rare thing in Oregon (although becoming less so).

Glad that your area is okay.

  22. Can you believe snow in May?! =0

These storms have gotten worse in intensity & destruction... If God isn't trying to tell us something, then I don't know what else it could be.
