It's Tuesday...back to work

It's back to work today.  It will be hard for many to return to work after a 3 day weekend and especially with this weekend signaling the end of summer.  We took a little drive down to the Lake of the Ozarks one afternoon.  Played a round of miniature golf, ate an early dinner, admired the beautiful blue water, and then returned home.  It was a nice drive but a very windy one.  You probably noticed the choppy looking water, but that didn't stop the boaters, tho.  They were out in full force enjoying this last weekend of summer!

 Another area of the lake.

We've been visiting my father-in-law as often as we can.  He has been very sick lately.  He's been moved to a different floor at the hospital in Columbia where they can more closely monitor his kidneys and respiratory problems.  He has double pneumonia and MRSA on top of all his other health issues such as congestive heart failure.   It's been touch and go before, but he has always pulled through thus far and hope he surprises everyone again.  Even at the age of 86, he is a tough cookie.  My hubby's brother and sister have been visiting their dad as often as they can, too.

We didn't get to any of the chores on my very long list of things to do.   Life has a way of rearranging our plans, doesn't it?  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Until next time...

  1. What lovely pictures and that water is indeed blue, blue.

So sorry to read that your father-in-law is so ill. Even though our loved ones get to be old, we don't want them to be sick far preferring that they walk in health until the very end. I'm praying for him right now.

  2. Hi Cheryl!

Thanks for the beautiful, uplifting comment you made on my blog! What wonderful advise - I'm going to take it! I will be looking for anything virtuous, lovely, and praiseworthy. The scriptures do have all the answers, I just need to search them...;0)

The lake is just beautiful, and the water is truly so blue! I haven't played miniature golf for years, it sounds fun! I love day trips! Can you believe summer is almost over? It seems like it just got started.

It got down to 28 degrees last night, so I know that my garden is coming to an end. I covered the tomatoes and squash, everything else is harvested. A friend brought me a big bucket of apples yesterday, so I think I will make a batch of applesauce and maybe a few quarts of apple pie filling to stick in the freezer.

Good luck to your father-in-law. It's so hard to watch parents get older, but especially hard when they are sick. My mom is 83, but in good health, thank goodness.

    Have a great Tuesday!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  4. That looks a very large lake, I love open stretches of water, you seem to be surrounded by very beautiful countryside as well.Do you live in a rural location or are you in a town.?
We are very rural,up a mountain that is beautiful, but totally different to your landscape.
I am sorry your father-in-law is unwell,I hope he recovers soon.

  5. So sorry, Cheryl, your FIL is not doing well. Tough times, when your parents get older and in ill health.

I've been to Lake of the Ozarks; just beautiful. Sounds like a good way to spend the last weekend of the summer!

  6. Praying and wishing for your dear father in law to get better so you can have more choice moments with him. I know what it is like to care for aging parents. Blessings to you for that!
The pictures were awesome and brought me a moment of peace. I love lakes, streams and etc. but don't often get to see them.
    Thanks for sharing! LeAnn

  7. Cheryl sorry about your Dad-in-law. Good that he is a tough cookie :) My thoughts are with you.

The Lake is beautiful. We sold our home there in '05 and moved here to the country. Couldn't take the craziness there anymore. Now it is a great place to visit now that I don't have to live there.

Aren't ya loving our weather? Rain is coming though I hear but we will take it! Maybe it will help to make the leaves put on a pretty show.

I'm sorry to hear about your FIL. All you can do is spend as much time with him and share prayers.
