While driving down a street the other day, something white and fluffy caught my eye. I wasn't going very fast, so I quickly pulled over and grabbed my camera. At first I thought I must be seeing things!
No, I wasn't seeing things! It was a white tailed squirrel that I saw. Now these may be a common sighting in your area, but we haven't talked to anyone that's seen such a squirrel around here.
I wonder if he is more rare than the all white squirrel that I've heard about?
Well, there you have it...my unusual sighting. I wanted to wait until today to share my photos with you so I could join Eileen's Saturday's Critters.
*My son has a birthday this weekend! Happy Birthday, Brett!
Happy Saturday to you!
xo Cheryl
wow! he's awesome! you're right - he's probably rarer than the white ones!
ReplyDeleteoh wow, did not know they existed. i did see a white one on someones blog but the whole squirrel was white. i am wondering is this one put a little L'Oreal Platinum rinse on? LOL love it... woudl like to see one. i have never seen red, black either, ours are small and gray
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing sighting! I have never even heard of such a critter...but he is a handsome fellow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your son! :)
I've never heard of them. You got some really great pictures. Thank you for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!!! This is shocking and mysterious! I have never seen or herd of such a thing! I wonder if it is some kind of birth defect, or maybe partly albino? Whatever caused it, it is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen or heard of one. I did see a skunk in our yard that had an unusual tail and my husband said it may have been a pet.....but when it got into the area with the neighbors goats, they were backing up...so I am thinking it was all smelly. :):) That was so lucky you had your camera. You will be looking for him again. Blessings for a fun filled Saturday. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice treat to get to see this adorable little squirrel. He is cute!
ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday to your son.
Have a beautiful weekend. Blessings, Catherine
Good morning Cheryl, I enjoyed seeing your critter. I haven't seen anything like it in our area. I have several squirrels that live in my pin oak trees. Happy birthday to your son. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and that the weatherman is wrong. Take care Hugs and Prayers from Your NW Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a a find. Never certainly seen one like that. Great shots. have a wonderful weekend AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRETT.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful. I have never seen on in our area. We have brown squirrels with black tails and black squirrels with brown tails but not white tails.
ReplyDeleteI've seen black and grey squirrels with brown tails, but not one with a white tail!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie. Here in Brevard, NC there's quite a number of white squirrels (not albinos but cross-breeds), but I've never seen a gray squirrel with a white tail. Cool discovery.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a shocker and what great pictures you got of him. What a handsome fellow and I am sure only his hairdresser knows for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt might make him more visible to predators but I bet the ladies love it. That was worth the wait.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON.
P.S. I love the way you managed to get the picture of only the tail in the first shot!
ReplyDeleteWhite-tailed squirrel? THIS is what we've been waiting for all week? Okay, must admit that he is pretty special. Nope, have never seen one before.
ReplyDeleteHow cool, to see this squirrel with the white tail.. He is a cutie! Great shots. Thanks for linking up and sharing your post! Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat observation, partly albinos are very rare in the wild.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I've never even seen a photo of one like that before.
ReplyDeleteOh cool! Never seen one! He's a beauty! You got excellent shots.

ReplyDeleteCheryl, your pictures of the squirrel are great! Such a cute little creature! I have never seen a squirrel with just a white tail, but I have seen a white squirrel in a little town west of Plattsburg,Mo. Marrionville is famous for their white squirrels although I've yet to spot one there. Twyla
