1. First thing I do is pick up the clutter. I have magazines all over the place and I really haven't read many of them yet. I laughed to myself when I picked up House Beautiful...that is so not my house right now! lol! This Old House is more like it and is one of my favorite magazines. Ignore the chocolate bars covering the mailing label. I just grabbed what was handy!
2. I did venture out in the cold yesterday in search of the proper rod I need for new curtains. Unfortunately, the drapes arrived and they not what I had hoped for. They looked yellow, not natural! So they will be returned.
3. I stopped into Pier One to look around and I always end up in front of the dish display. I wanted to say "I'll take that one and that one and....." I love pretty dishes and the sunflowers really caught my eye. This whole display was a feast for the winter weary eyes!
4. While I was at Bed, Bath and Beyond looking at curtain rods, I found this little item that my son introduced me to when we visited him recently. He had one on his fireplace mantle and at first I thought it looked a bit strange until he told me what it was. Maybe you've seen them but if not, it is a reed diffuser and it has a wonderful fragrance! His was vanilla scented, but I decided to try Oceano.

shame the curtains didn't work. :)
ReplyDeleteI really liked the sunflower display. We had sunshine today, but I couldn't feel any warmth from it. I wouldn't dare have a reed diffuser, my cats would either knock it over or drink it.
ReplyDeleteI really miss not being close to a Pier 1... so much neat stuff!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect shopping day full of eye candy...Sorry your curtains didn't work.......I like diffusers but you really have to watch the selection of scent...Some are very strong...
ReplyDeleteI really miss not being close to a Pier 1... so much neat stuff!
ReplyDeleteThose Sunflower dishes are great! We don't "do" any fragrance here, mu husband would be in the hospital for sure. I have lots of magazines to read through too, they seem to have stacked up lately:)
ReplyDeleteI think these random posts are so much fun. I have had a couple of those diffusers for a while. I just love them...they exude a nice scent without being overpowering. My favorite one has a Home Sweet Home scent- it smells like something baking.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good night- xo Diana
Sorry to hear your much anticipated curtains were the wrong color. That had to be a big disappointment. Hopefully the new ones will be perfect. I love PIER 1 too. The dishes are all very festive it's true. I'm glad they chased away the winter blues. Dinner sounds good. I'll be right over.
ReplyDeletePizza sounds pretty good to me too!
ReplyDeletePizza was on the menu for me tonight. Wish I lived closer to Pier One and Bed Bath and Beyond.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a reed diffuser. Might have to try one.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I haven't tried a reed diffuser. Might have to!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, Cheryl.... Your Mexican dinner sounds good. We had left-over Spaghetti and Meatballs. Think the Mexican would have been better.
ReplyDeleteThat reed diffuser is neat... Never heard of such a thing...
I would love the sunflower china also... PRETTY. This spring I am going to buy a new dining room tablecloth and new placemats... Maybe I can find some sunflowers...
Hugs,
Betsy
I LOVE Pier 1. And I could buy all their dishes, mugs, and chairs! In fact, I DID buy one of their chairs. I have been looking for more sunflower things to go with some I have, now i know where to go! I will get there this weekend and buy some!
ReplyDeletePier 1 is always a feast for my eyes too.
ReplyDeleteAfter work, I did not have the energy to go out for dinner so we had Fish Fillets from the freezers with carrots slightly boiled and Heinz Beans.
The closest Pier 1 is in KC and I don't know if they are still open. I had BLT for my supper after I came home from the nursing home. It just sounded good The sunflower dishes sound pretty. The 59 degrees felt so good this afternoon. It is suppose to be better tomorrow. Hugs and Prayers from Your NW Missouri friend Shirley
ReplyDeleteI too, made a trip to Pier 1 this week and it made me feel Like Spring really was coming. Such lovely dishes and settings! Sorry the curtains didn't work. That's so disappointing when that happens.
ReplyDeleteJudy
#1 I like "This Old House" and love Hersey Bars.
ReplyDelete#2 That's the problem with buying online.
#3 Pier One is neat.
#4 News to me.
#5 Meat loaf.

I am making a quick chicken chilli stir fry with a very large salad tonight. I had a lovely Pizza the other night. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought a decorating/gardening magazine in years, but as I commented on another friend's post today, I love sitting by the window with a cup of tea and a pretty magazine to lose myself in all the storybook houses surrounded by English cottage gardens. Pizza is perfect after a long day of tiring chores.
ReplyDeleteHad a peek at a previous post and noticed that you have a birthday this month. Mine is on the 19th; made it just in time to be a proud Pisces! When is yours?
Happy weekend, Cheryl!
Poppy
You and I have something in common. I absolutely LOVE dishes! Unfortunately in this small apartment I can't have very many. But.... I once did.
ReplyDeletePier I is so good for winter weary eyes!!
ReplyDeletewhat a disappointment about the curtains...love the colorful dish display...when i was in high school, i was going to decorate my whole house when i moved out in pier 1 stuff, all that wicker furniture that was so popular back in the 80's ha! your dinner looks super good, i love those meal deals...funny you should ask about my menu because i am actually writing a weeks worth up right now, in between blogging :) tonight though is steak! have a great weekend and thanks for linking!!
ReplyDeleteCheryl I loved the diffusers until I found that they oozed dampness on CH's old desk. Ruined the finish... maybe just watch them, not to ruin your fun. I have a hard time getting out of Pier 1 without plates and all sorts of "stuff"! Too bad about your curtains. We had pizza last night and talked about Mexican.. Ha! I think Mexican sounds great for tonight!!! Love how the closest thing to cover up the label was CHOCOLATE! Enjoy the sun today Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteto bad the curtains are the wrong color.. it is so hard to tell colors on line.. so now you have rods and no curtains. beautiful sunflower dishes... i am allergic to almost all scents. i have not seen these diffuses because about 10 years ago the allergy came to perfumes and i can't wander in stores that sell them. when i worked, Pier 1 was accross the street and i spent my lunch hour just enjoying browsing the things i could not afford but wanted. we are doing Wendy's burger and frosty today
ReplyDeleteBummer that the curtaiins weren't what you wanted. Hope you find just the right shade.
ReplyDeleteSo do you light the diffusers or do they just soak up the scent and permeate the air.
We don't have a Pier 1 nearby which is probably a good thing as I'd be spending way to much time browsing.
Rats! I hate having to return things, especially ones you've been waiting for through the mail. I shopped a bit yesterday and saw some similar things...it was interesting to see new things. Mostly, it made me wish I had more $ in my purse. Since I do not, I will stay out of there.
ReplyDeleteWe had pizza last night. Tonight we will have a traditional Saturday night supper...beans and biscuits and cole slaw. Exciting! =D
I miss Pier 1. It was almost impossible to leave that store empty handed.
ReplyDeleteMy big meal is at noon and was pulled pork and kale chips. My evening meal is usually on the order of cereal and a banana or a smoothie. Major boring.
Sorry about the curtains. What a let down.

ReplyDeleteYes that lovely bright display is a sight for sore eyes. I love the reed thingy's they never overwhelm with scent.
ReplyDeleteI am so in need of curtains in my dining room. I really must get out to shop for them.
I haven't been to Pier One in years. Maybe it's time to make a visit!
ReplyDeleteHoping that your next curtain venture is a successful one. We haven't had curtains in over 30 years; before we bought this farm, our house was in the middle of a heavily wooded lot. Privacy plus. Now here on the farm we're a ways from any neighbors; even the house is a full 1/3 mile from the main road down a curved drive. Privacy plus plus plus!
I love looking at decorating magazines, so I know about piles of magazines. Pier One is always a site for winter weary eyes with their eye popping colors. Happy week and hope it's warming up!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I know what you mean about the magazine pile-ups. As if I keep hoping the "beautiful" will jump from the pages of the piles to my house! LOL! Pier One ALWAYS delights my color cravings. ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeletewe had grilled chicken and shrimp and it was delicious! :) I've seen those diffusers for a long time now and have had a few, perfect for guest baths. :) I'll be starting my spring cleaning soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your birthday wishes.
ReplyDeleteI love Pier One and the sunflower dishes.. I have the lavender scented diffusers and go back for the refills..Pizza is a favorite of mine and the Mexican sounds great too. Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI still love magazines...even with Pinterest... **smile**.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a Pier 1 in ages... by the looks of your picture, I need to make a trip. Love the dishes!!
Hope you have a happy day...
