My thoughts are going in so many different directions that I think posting a Random 5 today will be a piece of cake. Be sure to stop in at Nancy's A Rural Journal to see more randomness.
1. Speaking of a piece of cake, I would actually rather eat pie. I love pumpkin pie, but the only time I usually make one is at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Will you be baking a pie for Thanksgiving? What is your favorite? We are kind of partial to pecan pie at my house.
2. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Seriously. Even Callie covered her eyes when I told her she had some new step-brothers or sisters. Yes, the neighborhood cat has once again brought us 5 new kittens. They are several weeks old and feral, so it will take be fun in this colder weather to try to get them tamed so they can be caught and we can find homes for them. They sure are cute, but no, I'm NOT going to keep any of them. I hope they survive living in our very cold garden shed. The baby-making mama is going to have to go in for a bit of surgery soon even though we hate to have to pay for it.
3. I need to get the rest of my feeders up for the birds. It's getting colder now. I have the block of seed that the woodpeckers like so well, it's just a matter of finding the feeder to put it in. I love my feathered friends and hope to see lots of them at the feeders this season.
4. I'll be seeing these pretty lights next week. Can you guess where it is? Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while now will know we're heading back to Branson for Thanksgiving. We've been going there for several years now. This photo was taken at Silver Dollar City, a theme park in Branson that is so beautifully decorated during the Christmas festival with over 5 million lights. It is an awesome sight and if you love Christmas as much as I do, you will be sure to love this place!
5. I need a new pair of shoes and I hate to go shopping for clothes or shoes. Maybe I'm not your typical female, but I don't really enjoy shopping unless it is to browse in flea markets or antique shops. With my bad ankle, I usually opt for comfortable shoes that will give a little lift to my heel, I can't wear a heel that's very high as my ankle doesn't bend much. Do you have a favorite brand of shoe for comfort? I'm not thinking about the Nike or Sketchers type.
Now, as Porky Pig would say....."That's all folks"! Have a Happy Friday and weekend.
Until next time...
i remember your Branson Christmas pictures now that you mention them. have fun and hope you find just the right shoe. i wear sandals year round here, and buy them at Walmart or Kmart..have not had a pair of shoes on since Sept 06 when i retired. barefoot mama and slip ons for public places. oH MY on the new kittens, Callie looks so adorable.. i like pie better than cake, love all pie except apple, which is my hubbies favorite. i love lemon meringue and pecan best of all.. but love any fruit pies, cherry at the top of that list
ReplyDeleteyup, i recognized the scene from branson right away. :) and i prefer any type of berry pie to creme or pumpkin or pecan or apple. :)
ReplyDeleteWe must be the only two women on the face of the earth who hate shoe shopping! I love pretty shoes, but just too much hassle trying a zillion pairs on, it works up quite a sweat. Plus I have lymphodema now and my feet swell out over my shoes. The only shoes I can wear are Crocs. It is a real bummer at weddings and funerals! How will you catch the mama cat? Your header is beautiful, and I hope you have an awesome trip!!! AND bring back lots of pictures!
ReplyDeleteBranson sounds wonderful. I love Christmas and all the special light displays.Have great time.
ReplyDeleteHi There, You were 'featured' on my blog today!!! Check it out!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you have more cats… Think you're going to have to rename your home "Cheryl's Kitty Zoo"… ha ha
I know you will love Branson…
I hate shopping also--and only shop when I absolutely have to…
Happy Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Betsy
The photo of the lights at Branson is fantastic. I'd love to see that. I like wearing low healed or low wedge shoes that are comfortable and well made. We have Naturalizer here which carries nice comfy shoes. Clarks and Reicker are also good brands. I don't always enjoy clothing shopping either but if I happen to see something I like on the spur of the moment I'll buy it. I don't like spending hours in stores looking and trying on things. It's overwhelming to me. I hope you find some comfy shoes.
ReplyDeletecan you shop online for shoes? i know i can't because shoes are weird. they never fit properly. so i have to always try them on. ( :
ReplyDeletegorgeous lights... i know you will have fun. will you take pics?
Not again! Oh dear...that Mama Cat has you figured.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have no suggestions for shoes...I am looking for some myself. If you find some, let us know.
Branson is going to be sooooo much fun!
I love the picture of the woodpecker. I haven't seen a single woodpecker this Fall/winter. I wonder where they are!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, oh dear, just what the world needs, more kittens, hope you find good homes for them and they stay warm.....love the woodpecker, mine have been at the suet daily.....hope you find some shoes, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to Branson again. You'll have such fun! I don't know about shoes...I wear the same ones all the time. TEVA sandals, Asics tennis shoes and black Nike (that I consider dressy! hahaha) Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteDoes your area have low cost a spay neuter clinic? Even my tiny town has one. Check with the Humane Society.
ReplyDeleteCan't help you with comfy shoes. I have to wear Reebok shoes since I have bad feet and need orthodics.
Wish I could see those pretty lights this year...I love Branson.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble finding shoes that are comfortable, and when I do, I tend to hang on to them for eons. I have a black pair of Clarks that are my go-to shoes for the winter.
LOVING those Branson lights.
ReplyDeleteI recognized Branson right away! STILL on my bucket list... all because of you.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you have more kittens! Oh, my! That little momma is productive.
I detest shopping, too. I'll wish you speedy success in finding a good pair of shoes... cute but still comfortable (I'll stay in my Crocs and Uggs. ;) )
If I don't get back before... Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and takes lots of pictures!! blessings ~ tanna
You know, I'm not fond of clothes/shoe shopping either ... now take me to a craft store/thrift store/flea market and I'm in there for hours! :-D
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome weekend!

ReplyDeleteHave fun in Branson. I think you got it right-doing that. I have only ever been through Branson but not stayed there.

Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteI like your pictures. The pumpkins and gourds are so vibrant.
I am fan of baked cheesecake. Pie or cake is good too.
I hope you have a wonderful trip to Branson. Our neighbors went last week.
Don't feel bad about the shopping thing. I am NOT a fan either.
Visiting from Rural 5 Friday!
I too would rather eat pie and I LOVE pumpkin. I used to only bake it at Thanksgiving time but now I do make an occasional one during the year. Pecan pie will be on the menu this year as well. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving in Branson, sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteYum, I love Pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving! Wonderful shot of your woodpecker! And your Christmas light shot is gorgeous. I have never been to Branson, maybe someday. Have a great weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteooohhhh branson, i can't wait!!
ReplyDeletemy favorite pie is chocolate pecan pie. i get it a cracker barrel, fresh baked each day for $ 8.50 for a larg pie. warmed, it's gooey and delicious.
i HATE to shop!! i do 90% of my shopping on line. books, stationary, stamps....all the contents for my gift baskets for the moms.
and all my clothing i buy on line at northstyle.com!!
have an awesome weekend!!
My sis-in-law had two pies baked for Thanksgiving by the Pie Lady~pumpkin and pecan. My favorite pie is cherry.. :) I am glad you are heading to Branson, I know you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving! My favorite shoes for comfort are Keens, Timberland and Ariat. Callie is so sweet.. :)
ReplyDeletePie? Apple with caramel and walnuts!!
ReplyDeleteYour little Callie is such a beauty and it is good of you to take care of the baby making mom.
Funny how she always brings her kittens to you. Odd kind of trust.
Cheryl, Love your photos. I understand about the shoes...I end up wearing sneakers most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI wish you so much luck finding some comfortable..cute shoes. Can those two things be combined? Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Hi Cheryl, so glad to meet you! I have visited your blog several times and enjoy it very much. I am somewhat new to blogging and am learning something new every time I do a little bit. I will be back often! Enjoy Branson, it is one of our favorite places!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, animals know where to go to get love and attention especially in times of need, ~big smile~ You have such a tender heart! Enjoy your trip to Branson, As I have mentioned before, visiting Branson is on my bucket list! I don't like to shop for clothes but anything for my home I could do every day!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed your Notecards so beautiful! thanks for sharing.
Blessings, Sue
Cheryl
ReplyDeleteBranson is such a fun place to be during the holiday season!
Have a great time.
And yes, you will need comfortable shoes on your feet!
Dropping by from betsy's.
ReplyDeleteI won't be baking a pie for Thanksgiving. Am a klutz in tge kitchen . Lol
I love cats :)
I don't like shopping too unless it's for books.
I've heard so much about how beautiful Branson is this time of the year, Cheryl. -I hope I can visit in the future, in the meantime I'll look forward to your photos.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can find a vet that will do a low cost fix for that Momma cat. You have a kind heart help those poor kittens.
I hate buying shoes as it isn't an easy process --I have big and wide feet. When I find sneakers the most comfortable --love my New Balance.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
My dear Cheryl..
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, how I loved this post.
It doesn't seem so random to me.
Maybe that's because, I too am always thinking of a thousand different things, at the same time :)
Love pumpkin pie, but our favorite would have to be Hershey bar pie... so delish.
I too HATE shopping for myself... so I do a lot of ordering on the internet **grin**.
I just bought a wonderfully comfortable pair of shoes from Amazon. They are Sketchers GO Walk 2 shoes. They are super light weight, and are cut straight and low, by the ankle. I broke my ankle last year, in a 4-wheeler accident, and cannot stand to wear running shoes to long, as they are too closely cut to my bad ankle. Maybe these shoes would work for you??
Have a safe and fun trip to Branson.
Happy Thanksgiving, my friend.
K.
yeah, those branson lights are beautiful!
ReplyDeletei love baking, especially i love pumpkin pie all-year round!
callie is such a beauty.
totally enjoyed seeing your photos. truly excellent!
have a safe travel to branson:)
have a very happy thanksgiving!!
xoxo
I absolutely detest shopping for the most part, unless it is flea market, antique place or a quilt shop. Every now and then I will enjoy shopping at Walmart...but just grew to hate it when I worked and still had to stop by the store at the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteI don't like shopping for clothes or shoes...I have a weird thing with one of my feet and very hard to find a shoe...about the only thing I can wear and do good in is something like Nike's or along that line. But I do have a pair of hush puppies that I wear that are okay...not as good as my Nikes but me foot don't hurt in them either.
Sweet potato pie for me. Oh no, mixed feelings about the next litter.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a while since I was at Silver Dollar City....I love Branson. Nice photos!
