One little chore I've been putting off was crossed off my to-do list recently. Several of my house plants needed repotting.
The birds nest fern is a little hard for me to keep alive as it needs more humidity than it gets in my house. This is my third try at raising one so we'll see what happens.
I love green plants and think they add so much to a home, but the furbabies also love them, too. So, it's a bit of a challenge to keep them alive and well. (The plants, not the kitties...Ha!) What is your favorite plant?
Do you ever wonder what the real picture looks like when you've seen a photo that was likely "staged"? Well, here ya go...this is the reality of my little photo shoot! Callie does her best to help me with all my projects.
See the wall behind the staging operation on the kitchen table? That is another project on my to-do list that I hope to cross off soon. I've had that stuff on the wall about 3 years and it's time for a change. I thinking about some sort of wall gallery of stuff that I've accumulated. We'll see what happens.
We did a lot of winterizing outside over the weekend and got a few more of the to-dos crossed off the list. I somehow managed to hurt my knee, thankfully after most of the work was done, and hobbled around all of yesterday. It's a cold day so I'm going to rest my knee and snuggle up under a quilt with a cup of tea and a good book! Have a nice Tuesday!
Until next time...
If your knees bothering you the best thing to do is to get off of it.
ReplyDeleteSo get that blanket, a hot cup of tea and cozy in!
I'd love to do a gallery wall too.
I'm looking forward to seeing yours when it's done.
rest that knee.. please.. and looks like someone is contemplating the new fern... MOL
ReplyDeleteooh, hope the knee mends quickly. my favorite plant...one that stays alive. :)
ReplyDeleteactually i have a corn plant and some sort of palm that we've had for about 28 yrs. brought home as discards from the office building where we worked. can't kill the suckers. just hack them back, water about once a month and off they go...
Hi Cheryl, You are trying what I can't achieve no matter how hard I try. I didn't inherit my mother's green thumb. Her Christmas cactus bloomed all year round. Thank you for sharing your trip to Branson and all of the fall color. It made me think I was traveling right along with you. It is the time of the year we would usually go, but that won't be happening. It is cold in our area, but I have been running some errands. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your NW Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteI like any plant I can't kill.
ReplyDeleteI have a philodendron with an arrow shaped leaf that i started in in the 70's. still going strong.
Your Callie is growing up to be a really beautiful cat!
Take care of that knee, Cheryl. Sometimes REST is what you need when it comes to a bum-knee….
ReplyDeleteIt's a cold day here too--and supposed to go down in the low 20's tonight… George brought in the Iris and Rose blooms in our yard… We knew they wouldn't live after tonight's weather…
Love the Bird's Nest fern.. I've never had much luck with ANY ferns…
Hugs,
Betsy
Sorry about your knee- try to stay off it- that's the best treatment I know of.
ReplyDeleteOh how I would love to cuddle up with a good book and just relax for a moment I am going to schedule this one.
ReplyDeleteI love indoor plants but I do not have a green thumb at all. We have a clay dirt here that makes it more difficult to get the right mixture for the outdoor flowers. In door I just have to feed and water them but it doesn't happen until I see them drooping. Not good; I must repent.
Loved your quote yesterday.
Blessings!
Hi Sorry to hear about your knee and I like others suggest REST!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Cheryl, so sorry to hear about the knee, I also have bad knees.........love the plant, looks so healthy, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteYou've accomplished a LOT!!! Repotting isn't a difficult thing to do, but it time consuming, and gets messy.
ReplyDeleteYep, our cats LOVE greenery too. And you asked what my favorite indoor plant is?----------Boston Fern.
what a great plant. i love it!! super different & cool. need to see if i can find one myself. ( :
ReplyDeletekeep us posted on that leg/knee. feel better.
Oh no, sorry about the knee, I hope you were able to rest it. I worked out in my gardens the other day, just in time for the snow that came. I love the color of your kitty hiding behind the plant ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is a fun looking plant Cheryl. I have 3 plants. A Hoya in the dining/living room that's really really old but hasn't bloomed for a few years, a jade plant and a Christmas cactus. I also brought in 2 geraniums for the winter. Hopefully they'll survive. Take care of your knee. Blessings, Pamela
ReplyDeleteI love my wrap around porch but it lets no light in so I don't have any indoor plants. I miss them
ReplyDeleteWe are looking at a hard freeze also. Stay warm.
I need to go outside right now and bring in a few plants that are in pots...It's suppose to be near freezing here tonight. I sure hope that you will rest your knee. Ice and rest works best. Keep warm!!

We too will be working outdoors in the yard this weekend, Cheryl. I do not have much luck with house plants which is why we only have one...a pine nut tree that is in a pot in our downstairs bathroom. It seems to favor the window light. Hope your knee feels better after taking it easy for awhile.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the kitty with the plant. Hope your knee heals quickly.
ReplyDeletesorry about your knee! I love crossing items off my to do list. :)
ReplyDeletepretty plant & pot, adorable kitty!
I used to have many house plants in my Brooklyn home, as I had a large bay window to place them on that faced south. The windows in my Colorado home have no windowsills--they are flush with the wall, so I am limited too just a few plants. One is a Christmas cactus and the other an orchid. I hope they both bloom this year!
ReplyDeleteI hope your knees will feel better after some rest!
oh, hope the knee mends quickly.
ReplyDeletei love that plant!looks so mighty.
take care
xo
I no longer try to have house plants. For some reason I do not have luck in this house. Plus, the kitties would not leave them alone.
ReplyDeleteSorry you hurt your knee...hope it heals quickly. What are you reading?
Sorry you hurt your knee.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon.
Callie has grown up! I cracked my knee on the coffee table trying to get to my phone yesterday. It is not a happy knee this morning. I hope your knee is feeling better! Not one plant inside my house. I am not a good plant taker carer of.. :)How about some gallery wraps of your beautiful flowers on that white wall. That would be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis definitely is snuggling weather and that snuggling is better with a good book (if you don't have a honey to snuggle with). I just finished reading 1929 by M.L. Gardner, now I have to find a new one to read. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteGood for you getting the repotting done, I keep putting it off myself.
ReplyDeleteTake care of that knee , relax a bit.
Hope your feeling like new soon :)
I wonder if there is some way you could put a big glass cover over it to keep it humid. I know with the heat on, everything dries out in our house.
ReplyDeleteThe plant is really pretty now though.
Hope that knee gets to feeling better quickly! Cheryl, I love those bird nest ferns but have the worst luck trying to keep them alive! LOL! they are just so beautiful... and I love the Maiden's Hair ferns too... same deal. sigh.
ReplyDeleteGet better! ;) blessings and hugs ~ tanna
She makes a great model that Callie. The photo looks beautifully staged to me! (Glad that I read that your knee is better first. )
