2. The maple tree in the back yard is the last tree on our property to change color and lose it's leaves. The tree in front is the exact same kind of tree, but it's leaves are gone. I note that bit of strangeness every year while we are raking leaves. Our roof isn't slanted, that was the angle of my camera as I shot out the window of the car. :)
3. I bought paint for our downstairs yesterday. If only I could have also purchased some energy for painting. I can recall saying that I was getting too old for these DIY projects, but BG says I didn't really mean it. Oh, yeah?
4. I have just gotten Ree Drummond's newest cookbook and have really been enjoying the pages filled with beautiful photos and yummy recipes. I doubt there is anyone who hasn't heard of Ree by now, but in case you haven't, she has a very successful blog called The Pioneer Woman and her own cooking show on the Food Network.
5. The beautiful colors are gone now, but I have to share something I read recently that I liked.
"Fall colors are funny. They're so bright
and intense and beautiful. It's like nature is
trying to fill you up with color, to saturate
you so you can stockpile it before winter
turns everything muted and dreary."
~Siobhan Vivian

Until next time...
i like that quote. wish we could store up the colors (and the energy for things like painting as we get older!) :)
ReplyDeleteLove the color of the trees. I think about painting as well but where oh where is the energy I do not know. I have not gotten her latest cookbook and am so glad that you are enjoying. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletegorgeous trees and if you find a place to buy any kind of energy at all, please let me know
ReplyDeleteThat's it exactly, because winter is so dreary and gray! I need a bit of energy too- I guess we can't get that at WW. (But I am sure they would offer it for sale if they could.)
ReplyDeleteI very much enjoyed your randomness. Wish that I could also buy some energy. I did buy some Slow FE and am hoping that it'll give me some oomph. What beautiful color you enjoyed and I think Siobhan has it just right. We need to fill up our senses with color before all the white, gray or brown.
ReplyDeletethat quote is so true! doesn't it seem like fall came and went so quickly?! have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteOur winters down here in South Texas are like anyone else's Autumn in the North. And west. LOL
ReplyDeleteYep, we too need a new christmas tree...the 'needles' were falling off the old one last year...I didn't even pack it away. I'm looking for a new one. I'm thinking the prelighted ones...we'll see. I'm sure they're more costly. Go figure.
Fall comes and GOES too soon. I love Fall and wish we could keep it longer.
ReplyDeleteMost of our leaves are gone… There are a few trees holding onto their 'dead' leaves --and we are anxious for all of them to come down!!! We've been working in the yard all week --and trying to get this job FINISHED!!!!! Huge Job for us.
I will leave my Fall decorations up through Thanksgiving -and then decorate for Christmas after that…
Wish we could buy some energy!!!!! ha
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
Cheryl, I liked the quote and sure hope all the pretty color I have seen this fall will last me thru winter. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteThe trees are beautiful and I love the quote. I have quite a few fall photos I haven't shared. I think I will do that in the dead of winter to brighten things up.
ReplyDeleteI the Fall trees in your header. Great quote and random 5:)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that quote AND your random thoughts! I am hanging on to Fall just bit longer here- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love Ree and her blog. It's fun to catch her on TV, too. I think I'll put her cookbook in my wish list! Love your beautiful Fall photo and quote. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteRee's new holiday cookbook is something special. ENJOY! LOVE the quote.
ReplyDeletewhat will be your 1st recipe to try out of the NEW COOKBOOK? i am super excited to hear. i love her cooking. read her blog often. ( :
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos ...especially the fall trees. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. e have had autumn longer than usual this year so will have even more memories.
ReplyDeleteWhen these kitties were young, I bought a whole bunch of un-breakable ornaments. They still climbed the tree.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, Bubbie would probably still think about it.
I love your last shot and that last quote is how I feel about it. Just never thought of putting it down in words.
I'm decking the halls for Christmas today Cheryl, as fall is over here for this year. (Even though it's really here until Dec. 21!) The quote at the end is very true and we have a longer dull period than down there for sure, although today it felt like spring. I have heard of The Pioneer Woman but haven't seen her blog much. Perhaps I should look her up. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou have shared some of the best fall images I have seen this year!!
ReplyDeleteI only like "small" DIY projects and I don't like to paint!!
Have a great weekend!!
The last time CH and I painted a room together we almost killed each other! The only thing I am painting anymore is my toes! Cheryl it really WAS that beautiful in MissouREE this Fall.. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteGood luck with a tree and the new cat. I am surprised you were able to decorate with the other three. Cats and a tree hasn't worked for me at all. I have to enjoy other peoples decorations.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice thought that nature is filling us up with color to last for a long winter.
That last photo is just gorgeous. We still have a fair amount of color here, but I will miss it when it's gone. The quote is great and a good way to look at the fall colors.
ReplyDeleteI wish you good luck in summoning up the energy for your paint job.
Great quote...soaking up those colors!
ReplyDeleteYour comment about purchasing energy hits close to home. Wouldn't that be wonderful?! :)
Great post...thanks for sharing all those beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gert
Great post and lovely photos. The fall colors are gorgeous. And I love the quote! I enjoy watching Ree Drummond's cooking show. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI always think of the trees as dressing up for one last party before the winter nakedness comes. And, man, what a beautiful party dress!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the DIY projects. LOL! blessings ~ tanna
I'm definitely missing the colors. Time for cooking comfort food. I would love to do the painting myself but do not have the energy and I have 9 ft ceilings. Not gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteMy Daughter is the same way you are... she is ready to decorate for Christmas. I told her it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. She said she loves decorating for the Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteGreat quote!
ReplyDeleteI want to hold on to Autumn a little longer ... Winter depresses me .... oh well.
I can't think about decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving!
I love Ree...and I love the colors you have shared with us.....:)
ReplyDeleteI agree, we are stockpiling that color to get us through the nearly colorless winter. I keep saying we need a new tree, too. But so far, nothing has happened. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish fall would last longer! I do love the colorful trees and cooler temps and the beautiful autumn sunlight. I did my Christmas shopping online this weekend--thank you Amazon.com--but I don't decorate fir Christmas till after Thanksgiving. I'm not sure how I will keep my crawling grandaughter out of all the decorations!
ReplyDeleteI loved the fall pictures... And your sweet cats from the previous post! I adore kitties! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI saw that beautiful moon this morning when I woke up.
ReplyDeleteI do impulse post, and usually don't have them pre-planned. Some giveaways are an exception if the sponsor wants them up on a particular day.
The storms were awful. Many, many people in our town our w/o electric and they said it may be days until it's back up.
Lovely pictures and the fall colors are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the quote; I think fall may be stockpiled so we can deal with the Winter. However, winter does have it's own beauty.
