I was so happy to see my candy stripe zinnias blooming this year.
They were planted from seeds I'd saved from last year's crop.
This one is one of my favorites.
How was your weekend? We worked outside Saturday in some
flower beds and trimmed back a few lilac bushes and removed
stuff that was past it's prime in the garden. I watered all
the flowers thoroughly including the perennials and our few fruit
trees. As soon as I finished it clouded up and rained a
little. We didn't get much, less than a half inch. We need more.
I'm going underground this week. Ha! Actually, I'm going to
dive into something I've put off far too long. The unfinished
part of the basement is where we store things and I need to go
through boxes and totes and get rid of stuff no longer needed.
All this means I may be away from blog land for a few days.
Depends on how much time I devote to this project.
If you don't see me for a week, send help. Okay? And wish
me luck. I tend to want to keep everything.
Happy Monday to you!
xo Cheryl
Cheryl, I admire your courage....sorting, and getting rid of things. I surely need to do that myself. I sit here thinking of the totes on shelves in the basement, that I have not gone thru since moving here..YIKES. I love that beautiful zinnia. The zinnia can come on the most wonderful colors. Yours are very pretty. Blessings and much luck on the job. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteAt least you won't need sunscreen. I need to do that in my large shed. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteI love that candy stripped zinnia. Wow.
You will refreshed and accomplished when the week is over . . .
ReplyDeleteIf you don't look at each piece and start remembering back . . .
Wondering . . . do I keep, toss, recycle . . . OR . . .
I like the pretty Zinnia . . .
Oh dear my motto is don't go into the basement:):) but I have been doing the same thing. Don't get lost and hope you find treasure. Hug B
ReplyDeletelove the peppermint flower and i do hope your basement has AC in it... I know it has to be done, but OH WOW what a job.. good luck and see you when you come out from under ground
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Cheryl! We are going to have a stretch of cooler weather but we have had no rain. We need it. Things are dry on The Tiny Ten. Beautiful week for some day trips but we have someone coming to clean and paint CH's workshop's roof.. ugh. Your lovely candy stripe zinnia brightens my mood.. :) CH and I both had some kind of stomach thing over the weekend and just feeling better today! I did the basement clean out a couple of years ago and guess what?.. it has stayed cleaned up! Don't stay away too long, ok.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! I tend to want. to keep everything, too, and have done a fair job of it thus far. I did get loads of clothing laundered again and, hopefully, this time, they'll be off to the SA. All the best with your sorting and blessing. That zinnia is a corker!
ReplyDeleteOh I hear ya, have to learn to toss more often. Love the candy striped Zinnia, I planted seeds but nadda, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteZinnias, my new favorite flowers. I have some beautiful red one that aren't very tall, I need to figure out how to get and save those seeds. Any tips? Can I save the dead heads I've been cutting off?
ReplyDeleteYour are gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful striped zinnias! I hope you have a very productive week...I need one of those too :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful zinnia!
ReplyDeleteIt's getting that time of year, for cleaning out the store rooms, and readying for winter.
Good luck with your store room.

That is one of the most gorgeous zinnia I have ever seen. Just beautiful. My husband teases me that some day I'm going to have a landslide in my craft room and may never be heard from again. LOL So, be careful in the basement!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Good Luck with your HUGE project... Take a break on occasion and visit us. I have a pretty Lily blog post today!!!
ReplyDeleteWe need rain also--and will be watering again this week. We were supposed to get rain and storms yesterday --but got nothing other than thunder and lightning....
Love love love that multi-colored Zinnia... My Mom used to grow Zinnias but I never have. Yours reminds me of our multi-colored Rose, Peppermint Splash.
Hugs,
Betsy
Good luck dear friend on the sorting and tossing thing. I need to do that one too. I am trying to go through my whole home one room at a time and get rid of some stuff.
ReplyDeleteI loved the picture of the multi-colored Zinnia; just beautiful. I will look forward to you coming back quickly.
Blessings for you!
I love doing work like that! Have fun sorting and tossing!
ReplyDeleteThe zinnia is gorgeous! Take breaks to put your feet up!
ReplyDeleteGood luck. When/if you get done let me know some helpful tips so I can get my stuff sorted out. :)
ReplyDeleteCheryl....this flower is so unusual and so very pretty!! Glad you shared it with us.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have planned for yourself, a week of pure fun!!
Hi Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love Zinnias, and yours are just so gorgeous! I also need to get outside and get some pruning done. My poor lilacs are so overgrown, and need a haircut so badly! So sorry that you are so dry - I think that is the norm right now in most of the country . . . scary!
Cleaning out is actually one of the things I love to do! I've never been a keeper, so going through things and throwing out is my cup of tea! I wish I were there to help you and cheer you on! YOU CAN DO IT! BOOM RAH RAH!
Hugs,
Barb
Ha! There's my zinnia fix!! Oh, girl. I know all about going down under! Press on til you get to the other side! We'll send the Calvary if we don't hear from you soon. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI know once I get started in boxes, it's hard to get out because you want to get as much done as possible. Good luck with yours, and the flower is gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your zinnias! I love their name as I was a Red Cross Candy Stripper years ago when I was 14 years old. I volunteered at the Brooklyn VA. Hospital.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with de-cluttering. I had to do quite a bit of that before we moved from our house of 36 years. You can imagine what we had saved away in nooks and cranny's. Believe me you won't miss hardly any of it. If in doubt take a photos as a remembrance.
I absolutely adore zinnia's! I didn't know that there was a candy stripe variety! Perfect!
ReplyDeletebeautiful flowers cheryl and good luck, i really need to do the same too!
ReplyDeleteLovely bloom. Good luck in the basement. Remember to resurface occasionally.
