In The Dark

We were in the middle of a big thunderstorm last night and I had one eye on the weather radar screen while reading blogs.  I was just about to hit the publish button on a comment I had written to a blogger whose name I won't mention, but it starts with the letter Vee, when all of a sudden the electricity went out.

The electric was out for several hours and we sat by candlelight until we decided the raging storm had quieted down enough and we could sleep.  BG was called to work around 3:30 am, so he didn't get much sleep.

I will be busy the rest of the week and have decided this might be a good time for a blog break since I'm already behind on reading and commenting.

Hope you have a wonderful week and I'll see you Monday if not before!

Edited to add:  I've been having a problem with some of my comments not showing up lately.  Anyone else having that problem or is it just me?

Happy Tuesday (even though it's almost Wednesday now) to you!
xo Cheryl

  6. Oh so that's where you were! =D Your poor hubby being called in the night like that...ugh. Does one ever get used to it? Don't answer that! You're on a break. Oh the problem you mention? Yup. Something going on and I have read numerous bloggers wondering about it, including Deanna at Creekside Cottage just this morning.

  8. Yes, bless him! I can't tell you how many times I have had to call Ozark Electric so they could send their men out to our area.

We finally got much needed rain, but no storms like some did.

  9. Bless your hearts. Power outages aren't easy. We had one this past winter during an ice storm. We have a lovely soapstone stove, though, and it kept us toasty; we even have heat vents between the family room ceiling and master bedroom floor, so that kept part of the upstairs warm-ish. I'm especially proud of the cooking I did on that stove. My cast iron cookware was much appreciated! It was an adventure of sorts. I just don't want to have to do it again...

  10. It's not fun when the lights go out as we've experienced this past weekend Cheryl. Your hubby is one of the many great people that help out during these weather events. Thank You. Even though I'm in Canada, we appreciate them so much especially after Tropical Storm Arthur visited. Enjoy your break. Pam

  11. Must be hard on a member of the line crew to face his wife while sitting in the dark.
    "Do something honey."
I always kind of enjoy the first hour or so in the dark, then I am glad when it comes back on. I've said it before, those guys are my heroes.
Have a good break. I've noticed little blog traffic lately--- think a lot of people are "breaking".

  14. Good Morning Cheryl, I wondered about you when the storm went through here with the way it looked on radar. I was lucky no wind damage and didn't lose my lights. It moved fast and furious. I set my alarm on my cell just incase the lights went out because I had to have my grandson to the college for his drivers training course. Your hubby is one of those special people that I really appreciate. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

  19. I've been having trouble for weeks now- it keeps telling me conflicting something or other..making me think my comment doesn't go through. I have learned to leave and come back to a site and sure enough my comment is there. I think blogger is having too many hiccups lately. Enjoy your break!!

  20. Even though you may not be reading comments for awhile, Cheryl, hope you enjoy the time away. I too have been blogging less often and finding it so hard to find the time to read all the blogs of others especially when many of them are posting daily. We also had thunderstorms overnight but thankfully did not lose power.

  23. I have had a few moments like that when the weather has caused the lights out for an extended period of time. We once had a ice storm hit and didn't have electricity for a number of days. I was grateful for a fireplace to at least keep us warm.
I struggle lately a lot with just getting a blog off and then I get behind reading and commenting. I must say yours is one of my favorites. Blessings and hugs!
